Hi Bryan great videos. I wanted to see the part where you re-installed the carburetors. I had an 84 i got in the early 90s that had a blown engine. Found an engine at a salvage yard and got it running when i was in high school. The whole bike was a disaster but i remember those carbs being a nightmare to install.
@@bryansprojects3570I use a ratchet strap around the frame to pull them down, be careful not to put pressure in the wrong place though. Additionally, oil on the boots helps them slide in.
Hi Bryan- Another interesting video. Since i'm an old conservative I was wondering if you used micro wire on that idle jet to open the orifice if you think that would have worked? Thanks for taking your time in making these nice videos for us. Have a beautiful day!! Illinois
I normally clean jets with strands of copper wire, and I have done it to these multiple times. Since I had new ones I decided to replace them. Thanks for being a loyal subscriber!
Hey man! I have the 1986 version, I'm working on it at my school's auto shop. Do you have any ideas of how to take the generator off??? I've been stuck for weeks on that, Thanks!!1
I looked in the manual I have and it says you need a puller. The Honda part number is 07733-3000000 or equivalent. There is probably a generic one available that would work. I would not try to force it any other way.
I have not done a compression test. I have owned this bike since 1986 when it had around 2700 miles. I assume the compression to be fine. It runs great when fuel is not pouring out of it.

I will probably include that in the next video since it is quite a pain and, spoiler alert, they have to come off again. Thanks for watching!

Good video. Thanks Do you know off hand what the difference is between this motor and the 84 honda shadow 500 is?
I believe the Shadow 500 is a v-twin and this is a v-four. The Honda Magna 500 would be more similar to this engine.

I have no idea. sorry.
What are your compression test readings?

Does fuel pour out of the carbs? Can you tell where from?
