So good to see you in Port Douglas .Such great memories of that place. I met my beloved at the pub Sunday season. We sailed out next day to low isles to clean the bottom , VERY big fish came to check me out . In 2001 I watched a crocodile swim right past the Yacht Club at dawn. Enough about that!!!. In Bundaberg Port Marina living the life with the girl I met at the pub, we live full time on a small 31 ft boat , Thanks for the awesome memories, love your channel.
Hi Windhippy, I hate bug bites. Prevention is favourite but if you get bites, use a small device called Beurer BR60 or a Biteaway. It has batteries which heat a small ceramic pad and when applied to the bite, destroys the enzymes that cause the itching. It burns for a few seconds without damaging your skin and the bite will not bother you further. For me it's a game changer for mosquito or flea bites. I have no commercial connection to either produce and the batteries last for an age. Love your channel.
G'day Crew, Anothet cool vid , hope you enjoyed the time spent in Austrslia , Of course Holly , we'd welcome a brave and beautiful sailor like you back anytime . Stay safe. Respect...!
Sorry about your fingers, but it was SO worth it for the drone view! That's my old neighborhood! You didn't mention the crocs though - are they still there? I've got stories.... Hope you skipped Cooktown and stopped a lot on your way to "The Tip" Thanks for another really fun video memory prod.
Hey hey Holly (WH)... happy to see you and your crew member Dan... Your solo days notwithstanding...! Excellent blend of sailing/cruising and local cultural entertaining fun stuff... Captivating as I'm accustomed to seeing in your vids... Fair Winds...
Hey Holly n Dan! Mike from Minnesota here. Been subscribed to you forever! Hehehe. Great episode. Sorry u got nipped by the drone.. ouch! See u in 2 weeks!
The most insane place I have been for sand flies would be The Great Sandy Straights, south of Hervey Bay. It's mental, I was camping on an island for three days in summer. Never again. 😀
As a fly fishing guide here in Montana for many years, we used a product called "StingEze" for our clients. Just dab a little on after a mosquito bite and the sting goes away, no redness or swelling at all. In a minute or two you'll never know you were bitten. Amazon has it or most fly-fishing shops here in Montana -- if you feel like sailing up the Mississippi River then the Missouri River sometime. About $8 US a tube.
A drone induced blood bath - heck. Might I suggest a pair of sturdy leather drone retrieval gloves like gardening gloves that is stored as part of your drone kit? Also big congratulations on reaching 100k+ subs. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well deserved!
Nice bug screens. Nothing like having custom sewn stuff for your boat. Looks beautiful there. Makes me want to reconsider making the big jump from the americas to the south pacific
Had same finger cut with secateurs . Plenty of bandages. Had to use masseur twice in port Douglas with snorkelling. Nice to see the sail go up with a running comments. First mate seems to help with everything But sailing is demanding & many factors to be aware of . Calamine lotion takes itch out but cuts & sea water don't mix. Very accomplished captain always covers time with needs of boat & crew .
Wow such an awesome channel! I recon you should sail all the way around to Broome. With your little boat you might be able to get up some of the rivers on the Kimberly coast. Though I've heard stories of people sailing up into these huge sheers red-cliff majestic rock waterfall canyon pools and then water level inexplicably drops ... for 6 months. Got a bunch of relatives up around the Cooktown area but decided not to say anything ... never get off the boat sort of thing ... be kind to that man Dan 🌏
We just finished our sand fly nets, we used fishing sinkers and hot glue Velcro looks better, Just bought a 12v bug repellent thing which takes small discs seems to help + vicks vapour rub seems too take away stings, please everyone be crocodile aware in far north Queensland.
Not sure if you have a few feet of hose you can use as chafe protection on your snubber but might be worthwhile. I have a similar setup but my snubbed doesn't get chewed up as much
Holly this would have been a another great video, if I had been able to understand you. I am not sure of the problem, but if you are using a bluetooth mic it wasn't working that well. When you were in the cabin facing the camera the sounds was good, but the rest of the time it was garbled and somewhat muted😕
A DJI avata or neo FPV drone would be safer especially on a rubber zodiac where the props have guards plus very durable. I have crashed my Neo many times and no problems. The Neo is $199.00 with many built in features
The sand gnats are a thing for me. I would rather be stung by a bee. I swell up bad from a single bite. And I live in Florida where the sand gnat could possibly be named as the state bird. But believe it or not Isoporic Alcohol takes away the sting the swelling and actually cools the skin. Bonus the gnats don't like the Alcohol either. Only problem is that the Alcohol evaporates quickly and then the gnats are back. Just a tip from a native Floridian.
Happy 2025 guys! Hols - question - when you pulled into Port Douglas, did they know who you are? When you pull into marinas in general, do people know who you are? (I would be surprised if they don't, as in the sailing world your name is part of the alphabet!) Can't wait to see you and your escapades when we catch up in Indonesia XO
Hey Holly! Just ordered shirts! Thanks for all the great content! What wind and do you use and what’s your opinion on it and what would you change? Make? Etc? Thanks again. The pick up line short video had me rolling!!!
Hi Holly just a quick question about insurance on your boat . Here in Australia as I understand it if your boat is 25 years or older it is extremely hard to get insurance cover .do you have the same problem and if so how do you get around it . Cheers bevan
I’m leaving in 4 months solo sail coastal and gain skills to think about a passage. USA politics as the world circumstances related to it is terrible. Time to leave
Hey girl happy new years. I hope all is well with ya. Question what anchor u using? Buying a new to me sailboat end of the month. It’s a 30 foot 10,000 lbs displacement. I want to not drag on this sailboat
I have my wife talked into selling our home, paying off all our debt and buying a 4 cabin catamaran for us and our three girls to sail to Brisbane and start sailing the world but they ain't having it. They haven't seen a tropical island yet that might change their mind 😂 Happy New Year!!
The safe way of landing a drone in bad conditions is to fly it into a large fishing landing net. That's how they retrieve their drones in force tens on The Thunder child offshore powerboats out as far as Rockwall 🇬🇧🧙🏼♂️
Your videos are great, I’ve been watching you for ever but as someone else has said the sound on this one was so variable, only about 50% was intelligible. Sorry to be picky.

I love your videos. I’ve been watching for several years. The sound on this one leaves to be desired.

Ouch! Revenge of The Drone! You both took it so well ❤
Be VERY crocodile aware up there. A yachtie is missing, probably because of one in Cooktown. A small dinghy is not much protection.
Watching you two chugging up the river reminds me of the sounds and sight of the engine on the Afrian Queen chugging up the rivers of Africa
What you're doing is amazing! Be safe out there...
I see the baby gecko at the bbq, such cool little dudes
Your videos are consistently so helpful. Thanks for your hard work!
Begone bot

Thanks Holly! ¡Le deseamos un año nuevo productivo y próspero!
Beautiful sails, and what a dinghy! Your #Highfield tender is awesome!
You are two clever problem solvers …steady as she goes 🙋♂️🙋♀️💖🍻
I enjoyed watching this video! Your hard work really pays off.
Another bot...
Happy New Year Captain and Dan!
Sometimes your videos over-explode my brain

Port Douglas was so neat when I was there - got to dive the GBR and visit some fam that lives in the area
Great video! You two are great!

Hows that engine behaving now .i hope you have given it a good talking to ..
Fair winds in2025. I can relate to your drone experience - blood everywhere ! lol
Lemons work really well for bites. Just customer Lemon slices and. Then just squeeze the Lemon juice on the bite.
Thank you both. It’s always a pleasure.
Hey capt Holly & Dan may you have a wonderful 2025, fair winds❤
Beautiful anchorages! 😍🙌💖...
Had same finger cut with secateurs . Plenty of bandages. Had to use masseur twice in port Douglas with snorkelling.

It was personal with that Drone
So picturesque at Douglass
I wouldn't swim at Low Isle, ive seen all the crocs in the Daintree River!, Thats also where Steve Irvine met his demise.
Flat & level...
Love you Holly... i know You know.
103k 😮 congratulations

Awesome spot but yeah bugs suck.. I found lavender oil really good !

You are an inspiration
Sand flies will ruin a camping/ boating trip. Have you tried a Thermacell. That would keep them out of the interior of the boat.
Love watching your videos tks
*Good* job with your video.
I like it!

Nice vid as always! what is the shot with the puffer vest and woolly hat? Norwegian flag in bg???!!!
Greetings from the other side of the pond. Biskee that is!
Thanks for another great video. I am sure you are aware that when you turn your cam away to show us something it is really difficult to hear you 😢
Good video.
Thanx for this lovely video. That port looks to be a great place, but it is too far away for me.
A DJI avata or neo FPV drone would be safer especially on a rubber zodiac where the props have guards plus very durable. I have crashed my Neo many times and no problems. The Neo is $199.00 with many built in features
The last time I saw you, you were rowing your dinghy. I have some catching up to do.

Nice to see the Norwegian flag in the background in that lovely cabin.
Have you got Big Water Lizzids in the Creek?
Wind hippie - blow on!
you could use strip magnets instead of snaps
Girl gets cuter with every video, it's amazing!

Vietnam? Did I miss an episode? 😎
Good job. I enjoyed. Are you using a different camera?
Thank you
I’m leaving in 4 months solo sail coastal and gain skills to think about a passage. USA politics as the world circumstances related to it is terrible. Time to leave
which coast are you on?
My thoughts exactly!
Is your boat not small enough to skull ore into slips?
At 27.38, there is a massive fin behind Holly ?? What could it be?
That Island offshore, I stopped there and fed those fish. Pulled in at night and nearly hit one of those pontoons
Try cutter it’s pretty good
Hey girl happy new years. I hope all is well with ya.
