It seems like an easy mistake to make when you're tired. Hopefully your video will serve as a warning to others and save some other soul from all that hassle. Thumbs up!
I love the pieces of history in your vids, such an impact this exchange has of 2 places on the opposite side of the world. Enjoy your cruising on this beautiful piece of the earth!
Very interesting about the islands. One good thing about major «eff-ups» is that you surely will be more aware in the future. Good call to build all the access hatches, James. Thank you.
Hi James, happy new year the two of you! Many of the names still in use in New York / Manhattan are derived from the original Dutch names. Harlem comes from Haarlem, a Dutch city. Broadway was Brede weg, Brooklyn was Breukelen, Wallstreet was Walstraat... and there are many more examples!
Hi James, I really look forward to your videos, I get to see and learn about places I will never see or experience. It's great also that you and Wanda are getting along so well, it's lonely sailing on your own. Say hi to Wanda and stay safe James.
Real current life experiences (both fun and not so fun) with interesting and entertaining glimpses at historical events - must be an episode of Sailing Triteia!! Thanks for sharing - you're the best, I love learning from your channel!
Thanks James, I always learn something from your experiences through your videos. Hopefully, I’ll be able to apply those lessons myself in a few years as well. Thanks again, Mark
Happy New Year! Enjoy your long trip across Indonesia! I lived for three years in the last Island before reaching Singapore on the island of Tanjungpinang, I loved it people are so nice. If you make it to Thailand let me know I live there for the last 20 years . Fair winds !
Good episode James and Ronda. Fuel in the water.. it happens sometimes. But as they say: everything bad is good for something.. Good experience for next time. Fingers crossed for sailing in Indonesia!
Yep most people would lie and blame a problem on the boat. I own an alberg 30 boat and James has taught me lessons just by him being honest in his videos. One was him almost drowning with his ex wife trying to get to shore. I forget all the details but he told the truth and it shows how fast little choices can unravel into something awful.
I have an alberg 30 mine is a 1976. I have been repairing it for a few years and make trips for a few days on it now then work on it some more. I have had tons of people tell me to get a water maker but they don’t seem to realize they are like 5 grand and idk the situation in your boat but space is an issue on mine when I look at it with the intentions of crossing oceans. I chose to buy a wind vane instead of water maker because it is just myself and I can carry quite a lot of water. And I feel like I get more out of spending the money in a wind vane. There is one bit of advice you gave in one of your videos that pops in my head a lot. Don’t put off cruising for years and years and then to never because your waiting to be able to afford things you can sail without. That is so true man and I was doing that. I had a perfect picture in my head and didn’t want to do anything until then but I realized that if I keep doing that I’m never going to go anywhere and I’m not rich so I need to make priorities and start enjoying the boat
100% 100% 100% - no one “needs” a water maker, most people are just too lazy to deal with getting water. And just like you said $5000 and I have zero space to install it as well.
@ I agree. If I wasn’t solo and had a family or kids onboard full time I would probably invest in a water maker but it is just me in the long passages and I don’t feel like I need it. I am sure getting water can be a pain at times but it really is the only option at this time for me. If I wait for the money for a water maker it would take a year or more and as you said I don’t have a proper place to install it. From looking at your videos your interior is very very similar to mine the biggest difference is my boat has a wheel steering. I would have rather had a tiller but the bit was in the right place at the right price and was pretty much exactly what I wanted

Yikes! What a hassle and so easy to do. Our boats water and diesel are on opposite sides and I still caught myself almost mixing up. It’s always so distracting when you’re getting ready to leave and a million little things going through your head. Sorry for the hassle it caused! SV Dulcinea Fair winds and CLEAN water!
Yeah diesel and water, is not a great combination, James. (Stating the obvious. ) 💩 happens eh.?? Thanks for sharing guys. One of the better sailing channels around. All the very best from down under in Nz.
Wow, that is interesting about the nutmeg in the war and Manhattan, the most valuable real estate property on the face of the Earth, after listening to Michael Saylor, thanks for the history very interesting. You should do that more often give us background and history of the different places you travel to, thanks
Wow..never knew that about Manhattan-super cool to learn that. I thought it was a band LOL. Oddly enough.when I search the web-it only talks about the singing group and never mentions the actual REAL history. Im sure it's in google-land somewhere. Anyways. bummer on the water/diesel. Thank god you weren't sailing in the middle of nowhere when it was discovered. Glad mistake was made where you could correct and refill. Hope you have a great 2025. Cheers to you both!

Hi James and Rhonda have you got activated carbon or charcoal drinking water filter, and charcoal powder in your first aid kit, if you get food poisoning or dysentery from contaminated food or water, mix maybe 1 teaspoon of charcoal powder in water or juice, drink the charcoal will absorb the poison, also good for skin infections, coconut shell is the best, you should be able to find some in Indo. Indo has the best coffee. I have following you on and off from Hawaii. Enjoy Indo they are friendly people

Great episode , glad you got that water situation sorted without too much pain
