Great review. Yes a nice tablet. I had been looking for more reviews on the HP Zbook x2 to see if they had updated that. I would have preferred an update to that line more for graphics and also including the USB and SD card. However this is interesting but still having to using dongles. Hopefully they will do an update to the Zbook x2. This form factor is great because how you can separate from the keyboard and get better graphics. Thanks again.
I have a gaming desktop so I had a hard time deciding on getting a Elitebook / Probook with Ryzen or a cheap but older 8th gen intel. I decided on getting a X2 G4 for the extreme portability but enough performance to run basic programs. I am now also looking to pick up a HP FireFly for a bit more power then I can dedicate the X2 for pure on the go uses!
Ah no I haven't personally used a surface for writing with the pen sadly. I've heard the HP pen is not as nice as the apple pencil but apart from that I'm pretty impressed with it!
@@MrDucatiV4 Ah I see what you mean! I'll try to get time to do that! So far I actually regret the purchase only based on the battery life! The tablet is so so good in every regard except the battery life is god awful. It only lasts about 2 hours on wifi at an acceptable brightness which is just useless to me unfortunately. Big shame because overall I really like the tablet
I had the G2 version that recent went Tango-Uniform. So I ordered a used G4 via FleaBay (no keyboard, pen, charger or operating system). I am hoping that I can used the pieces parts from the G2 and install Linux Mint for the OS. Thank Thee for the review 🙂
i want to buy, the seller said that there is battery 9 cell, 12 cell and ultra battery> can i know your opinion , what do you think about ultra battery, it can work for 5 hours?
Hey mate! Not too much bleeding but definitely some clouding around the top and bottom during a dark scene unfortunately. Although it's not as good as my OLED TV so it's hard to compare between the two haha. This is the i7-8565U
Good review! I don't understand why the battery life is so short? Where is the power going? The battery is supposedly 47Wh, so you are using around 16W every hour. Did you try to track down if you have some runway process? Something trying to download something? Maybe windows update or the search feature indexing your files, or some such? I know, my comment comes a bit late....
Ah that's a great idea! I'll take a look but I don't think so. I did a complete format and reinstall of windows and the battery life was still shithouse haha. But I'll definitely check it out! Yes 47Wh is pretty solid battery which is why I bought it in the first place. Would be very keen to see where it's going.
The heat management is... Interesting to say the least haha The fan seems to always be on when it's charging (which I guess generates a bit of heat) and it's also on sometimes when it's sleeping which is odd! Overall it has vents only on the top of the device and when using it, sometimes the fans are on and sometimes they aren't. I haven't really noticed them and they're pretty quiet
Thank you for your amazing work Thim! When people notice little sounds and bothers them, they have TOC. No worries about that, perfect containt and I didn’t notice until before I read comments. I wanted to buy a elite x2 G2 but I hear elite was descontinued right?
Thanks so much for saying so! This really made my day! I'm not sure but it seems to be difficult to find these days! I saw they made an Elite x2 G8 but then it suddenly was removed from the HP site
Hey mate, the pen sometimes comes in the box - it depends which pack you get. Here in Australia, it came with the pen. It's the HP Rechargeable Active Pen G3
TY for putting this video out there. I own the Elite x2 G2 but now that I have cracked the screen (no warranty or protection plan purchased), Im looking for a new 2 in 1 laptop with a newer core processor that will last me next 5 years because I heard laptops get outdated after the year period in terms of performance. How does this 2in 1 compare to Lenovo Flex 5 (core i3, 8GB)? Im planning to use for school that has an updated processor, and I really like the detachable monitor function.
Hey Mohamed, the battery life isn't the best on wifi unfortunately. It only lasts about 3 hours with office use. With wifi off watching a video though it lasts for about 8 hours. Interesting!
Timothy, thanks for a good review. Most informative and interesting. I do find (as someone for whom English is not the main-nor only-language), that the 'verbal' delivery could be significantly improved. Far too many ums and ers, breaks in between words and sentences unfinished ... Hope you do not mind my comments as the content was rather good but the lack of fluid delivery somewhat spoils it a bit. 😉
@@RajeshKumarbme Tough call! I'd be interested to hear what you went for here. Sorry I did not respond earlier! 1080p wouldn't be enough for me as I'm a stickler for a 'retina' display! But on a small screen of 13" it should be enough for most people
@@RajeshKumarbme Ah fair enough! I'm actually looking for one of those myself now. Windows is great for a mouse and keyboard, but the windows tablet/touch interface leaves a lot to be desired for me!
With the battery life, thing is, when you have a ton of things open - I see there's loads of app icons down at the bottom - it prevents the CPU and drive from entering the lowest power-saving states. I suspect that's what was happening there.
Hey Elemkay, those are only shortcuts down the bottom on the Taskbar. Not all are running. I've tried the tablet with only a single thing running like a Web browser with one or two tabs or Netflix and sadly it still only lasts about an hour and a half to two hours maximum
Not sure Adrian, I've never owned an iPad Pro - only used them in the stores. What I would say is that I much prefer the iPad interface, it's a much easier to use tablet. But Windows can do so much more than iPad OS so it's a difficult decision
Just a tip when reviewing tech is not to drag on about the physical features of the tech peice but actually just focus on how it works and the quality of sound and graphics maybe, because it CAN bore people if you drag on about the physical features
Good review. I like the hardware here. Linux seems to install without issue. (Small note, you keep sucking your teeth during the review. A bit distracting that.)
OMG 3 hours ... quite dissapointing ... however if you want to limit power go to the source .... just reduce the power option to 70% it will indeed restrict the CPU ... my take
Not much reviews on youtube for this, thumbs up for the effort 👍🏻

It is not 16:10 aspect ratio but as the resolution indicate it's 3:2 aspect ratio
