It's garbage... if you've never owned this type of combo or are ignorant and think you know how to do laundry you will break it... Also the "smart dispenser" has a service bulletin out to pull the drawer out at least 2" to prevent detergent seeping into the spin basket
I have had this for almost two months and its been life changing. My husband was a chronic leave wet clothes in the washer person. This has saved us space in what was an odd laundry set up in our home. It does take some getting used to as far as the humid clothes but I cant imagine having two separate units anymore.
I have only had mine for a month, and so far I love it! Just hope it holds up! Oh and people save a ton of money on detergent and softener, use instead about 2 table spoons of baking soda for detergent, and fill softener dispenser with distilled vinegar for a great clean and soft load!
I've had mine about 3 weeks absolutely love it. It actually works as advertised. I know it's new tech but combo units have been around for years and so have heat pump dryers. Since reliability is unknown I bought an extended warranty thru ge for 279 bucks which gives 6 years full coverage parts and labor which I thought was a pretty good deal.
@1996killerman i live in a small town and purchased it from the local hardware store that sells appliances. That way i could have it delivered and installed. They weigh about 300 pounds not the easiest to move by yourself.
Just a couple tips with this unit, the lint trap. DO NOT FORGET TO CLEAN IT. This is crucial for the drying cycles. If that trap is not cleaned you will start having issues with wet clothes and drying times will be increased. Follow the maintenance instructions in the manual. Very important.
You are absolutely correct! Users should not fail to perform maintenance on any machine, but for this machine you especially need to stay on top of the lint trap.
I have 1 since it released since i wanted to save space. I absolutely love it. Had no issue with drying and yes best feature is not forgetting to shift clothing to dryer.
My thought.... when stains are really bad, the dryer sets the stains. I always check my wash load before drying. Sometimes a second wash fixes the problem as long as the clothes are left wet
That's definitely something good to keep in mind! Luckily with this unit you can actually choose to have it stop after just a wash cycle, so you would be able to check the stain before moving on to drying it!
There has been a few times in the past where a couple of food oil stains got by me and got dried...but the spots were so small the shirts got wore anyway...and the next few washes the oil stain completely disappeared...even after being dried.
Set machine to normal wash push the dry button on the control panel and all it will do is wash check cloths rehash Asneded if you just have to dry reverse the qstprocess for the dry option not rocket science and also pretreatment the dang stain
Clean the lint filter after every load. Clean the pump filter (Front bottom panel) every 5-10 loads. You will be surprised how much crap ends up down there esp if you have pets or kids that leave things in the laundry that shouldn't be. Turn washer off and hold the ">||" button for 10 seconds and you can check your fault codes...note, some of these may not be yours, may have been prior to delivery, I had 3 on mine but I didn't check them before using the units, suggest you check these before you run any loads or run any cycles.
I have had mine for 2 weeks and on day 5 the trouble began. The heat pump got so hot, you couldn’t place your hand on the top of the dryer. It didn’t dry the clothes. They were STEAMING and wet! Had a repair guy come out and he ran a “diagnostics” on it and said nothing was wrong with the machine. I asked him to stay for a complete cycle so I could show him, but he said he couldn’t. I did another load after he left to see if there would be a problem…that load was fine. The next load, same thing as before… clothes wet and steaming! I run mine at about 75% full… basic clothes. It is now day 14 and for the last two days, I have had to wring out my clothes to hang dry… even after it sends me the notification the cycle is complete! I called for another repair and at first they said they couldn’t send anyone because I just had a repair call and nothing was wrong. Hung up and called again with someone new and they agreed to send someone. I tried a lighter load today and the machine turned off during wash cycle and my clothes are sitting in a puddle of water and won’t start, drain or stay on! The store said I had a 30 day warranty with them but since day 5, when this all began, they have done NOTHING but send me to GE for repairs! I wish I could post videos and pictures here… because the store won’t help and the they’re running out my warranty with giving me the run around! Buyers remorse BIG TIME! I don’t want my money back, I want an exchange and they WONT exchange it without condemning it and they wont condemn it unless I have had 5 DIFFERENT issues! I understand things go wrong sometimes… BUT MAKE IT RIGHT… and they won’t! I have lost ALL confidence in the machine and the folks that claim to back it!

The wife now could never have another type of unit . She is so in love with her one and done they swapping laundry will never be a thing hunt for her again !
The question on my mind: what happens with the dryer portion of the washer is operated below 60°F? I see manual page 22 has a lower environmental limit at 60°F.
Lots more electronics and a heat pump/dehumidifier to go bad. Interested long term reliability data for this and similar units. However a good option where there is no dryer vent or you have limited space. These types of units are more common in Euro countries.
I got my All In One machine the second week it came out. Here's my initial thoughts. 1) GE says it can do a wash and dry cycle load in about two hours. That hasn't been the case with me. I'm a single person who does rather smaller than average sized loads. My loads typically take about 2.5 hours from start to finish. I have never seen a load that took just two hours in my machine. 2) The lint filter does a good job at catching lint. But here's the problem I'm seeing. GE says to clean the filter every four to five loads. That's a very bad idea that's going to cause excess lint build up in the condenser's fins sooner than later. I get quite a bit of lint in my filter after just one load. And because of that. I clean my filter after each load. Allowing four or five loads before filter cleaning is going to cause the filter to get clogged up much much quicker which will take the machine longer to dry. And like I said before, its going to allow lint to getting to the condenser fins which won't be a good thing. Overall it's a nice machine to have. But this machine won't be good for people who are lazy and don't like to have to do a little filter cleaning after each load. So if you're lazy, I say save the $2600 and buy a regular washer and dryer set instead.

It is super annoying to have to wipe down the blue seal after each load. I'm still getting used to this being a washer and dryer all in the same drum! What has your experience been like?

You will just scrape off what's been collected in it like a normal dryer, but there is also a second foam filter that will occasionally need to be washed with water along with the standard filter piece. So it really isn't much different than your traditional dryer!
We didn't try that specifically in our test, but I don't see why it would be any different than doing so with a normal washer and dryer. Thanks for the question!
2 valuable tips: don't fill more than 75% of the drum (some models have a label indicating this level), even to only wash. More than that will not keep enough space to have the clothes properly rolling and this will affect washing and even more drying. Second tip: wash/dry the same kind of clothes. By example: wash/dry light clothes, underwear + t-shirts + socks, then in another round only the towels. Because the drying is made using a moisture sensor, which will measure the average moisture. If you mix, you'll have your underwear dried, but wet towels.
That could be, or we think it could also be that it sensed the size of the load and adjusted accordingly. There's still much to learn about this machine. Thanks for watching!

This would be beneficial for full timers. I even wonder with the less power needed of one could drive down the road with a load going.
Unless you're tight on space, I just don't understand why you would want this. You can't wash a load while drying another load. If one element breaks, then you might be out of a washer AND a dryer. I doubt it will sell well in the future if you ever try to get rid of it. And if the app breaks, will you be able to do laundry at all?
Nice all-in-one washer/dryer unit. GE needs to fix the update notice to the machine, which will stop your wash if it is in service to do their update. Do like the cell phone carriers do (they notify you to update now or schedule at a time). The normal wash/dry times are too long for me. Until then, I'll keep my 30-year-old Maytag washer and dryer, which I never had a problem with.
Hey, you ever read the T&Cs attached to an appliance control app ? You are basically giving all the personal information on your phone to the company that makes the product, your contact details, your location, your address book, etc , etc,

On both Android or iOS you have the option to grant explicit permission if you're that paranoid that someone from GE will show up at your house to do laundry while you sleep. Location, contacts, and address book access aren't even an options in this app. It only requests messaging access so it can... you know.. send you push messages when it's done *AND* it's optional. So spooky.
From what we understand, it shouldn't indicate anything wrong with the unit. It's just something to keep in mind as to not burn yourself or damage something! We imagine that it gets hot because of the heat-pump technology they have sitting towards the top of the unit.
There isn't any heat barrier of some sort inside the top cover. No one else has ever mentioned that the unit got this warm/hot. The duct work for the heat pump is plastic, I guess it's okay
It literally came out at $3200, it was on sale for a bit for $2900, then $2600, then went on special for Memorial day for $2200 then pre-Black Friday for $2000 through the end of that weekend.
No heating element therefore no cold fill only some stain will never come.off. Put the heating element in it and have a stain option. Combo have been out since the 70 this is nothing nee

I'm sorry but this ge 2 in 1 has rendered all other laundry appliances obsolete....will never buy traditional again. All u need on the showroom floor is this u it and any future copy cats as ge are the first ones to get it right
As a washing machine repairman, I can see no positive reason that anyone should purchase this machine. Firstly the cost, far cheaper to purchase a separate washing machine and separate dryer. Secondly, far more convenient to be able to wash and dry simultaneously with separate machines Thirdly, it’s so big and ridiculously heavy it’ll be very difficult to get anyone to willingly deliver and install it Fourthly, when it needs repair (as it certainly will as combined units clog up with lint and require regular strip down and pressure cleaning to prevent stains on your washing) this will be a very expensive project as it’ll take a 2 man team to remove it for the work shop repair as it’s too large to be done in your house. A financial and practical disaster any way you look at it Just don’t buy it Please
It's funny my husband wanted this because it would be easy for him to repair. The heat pump is easily accessed and removed from the top of the unit for replacement if (when) it goes out.

Clearly you are not a machine repairman or at least a very good one. Yes, this machine is a bit more expensive because it's new to the market but it's not much more than a quality washer/dryer pair. You might want to check out the video where the designer of this machine answered questions. It won't clog up as easily as other heat pump units can. But usually the issue is because people don't clean the lint filter after each load. And delivery and installation is easy, far easier than delivering a refrigerator. Not sure how you got it would be difficult. Just more proof you are not a repairman. But nice try. lol
@@Resist4 oh dear, do you always believe advertising ? Ok, firstly my credentials, 39 years in the industry of repairing washing machines and Whitegoods. So as for the poor wash results a few years down the road, that’s just what you end up with in combination washer-dryers. Here’s why, the washing and drying process use a common space, so between the wash drum and the outer bowl is a small space all the way around, here is where soap deposits build up during the washing cycle, and when in the drying cycle this area is where the drying air flows complete with lint deposits, the lint attaches to the sticky soap, builds up, goes mouldy, eventually falls off during a future washing cycle and sticks-stains your clothes, not to mention smells terrible. Now, I get a large part of my weekly workload from dismantling combined washer-dryers and cleaning out the rotting buildup of soap and lint. This has nothing to do with cleaning a lint filter because the hot air and lint is surrounding the wash drum during the cycle before the filter is engaged Now this issue is no where near as prevalent in separate washing machines and dryers. As for serviceability, this product weighs around 300 pounds, there’s no way tat can be safely handled, moved around your house etc by 1 person, where as an average size refrigerator for example weighs around half that much. So it’s a bit rich of you with all your experience with this matter to judge what I experience daily. I offered my original post as a balanced informed opinion to counter the BS advertising

Get a dryer cent cleaner and hit those blue coils inside the vent housing build up of escaped l ent will shorten life span of the machine...

The filter does not work adequately enough to protect the evaporator so in time you will have to have that cleaned major repair work 8:53

It did. The only cycle that it didn't do it on was the quick wash for some reason. We still don't entirely know why!

In our test the normal cycle did go through a cooldown mode! We aren't positive that it will always do this, though.

From what we understand, it shouldn't indicate anything wrong with the unit. It's just something to keep in mind as to not burn yourself or damage something! We imagine that it gets hot because of the heat-pump technology they have sitting towards the top of the unit.
There isn't any heat barrier of some sort inside the top cover. No one else has ever mentioned that the unit got this warm/hot. The duct work for the heat pump is plastic, I guess it's okay

It literally came out at $3200, it was on sale for a bit for $2900, then $2600, then went on special for Memorial day for $2200 then pre-Black Friday for $2000 through the end of that weekend.
This brand reminds me of LG or Samsung in design

I'm sorry but this ge 2 in 1 has rendered all other laundry appliances obsolete....will never buy traditional again. All u need on the showroom floor is this u it and any future copy cats as ge are the first ones to get it right
As a washing machine repairman, I can see no positive reason that anyone should purchase this machine.
Firstly the cost, far cheaper to purchase a separate washing machine and separate dryer.
Secondly, far more convenient to be able to wash and dry simultaneously with separate machines
Thirdly, it’s so big and ridiculously heavy it’ll be very difficult to get anyone to willingly deliver and install it
Fourthly, when it needs repair (as it certainly will as combined units clog up with lint and require regular strip down and pressure cleaning to prevent stains on your washing) this will be a very expensive project as it’ll take a 2 man team to remove it for the work shop repair as it’s too large to be done in your house.
A financial and practical disaster any way you look at it

It's funny my husband wanted this because it would be easy for him to repair. The heat pump is easily accessed and removed from the top of the unit for replacement if (when) it goes out.

Clearly you are not a machine repairman or at least a very good one. Yes, this machine is a bit more expensive because it's new to the market but it's not much more than a quality washer/dryer pair. You might want to check out the video where the designer of this machine answered questions. It won't clog up as easily as other heat pump units can. But usually the issue is because people don't clean the lint filter after each load. And delivery and installation is easy, far easier than delivering a refrigerator. Not sure how you got it would be difficult. Just more proof you are not a repairman. But nice try. lol

Ok, firstly my credentials, 39 years in the industry of repairing washing machines and Whitegoods. So as for the poor wash results a few years down the road, that’s just what you end up with in combination washer-dryers. Here’s why, the washing and drying process use a common space, so between the wash drum and the outer bowl is a small space all the way around, here is where soap deposits build up during the washing cycle, and when in the drying cycle this area is where the drying air flows complete with lint deposits, the lint attaches to the sticky soap, builds up, goes mouldy, eventually falls off during a future washing cycle and sticks-stains your clothes, not to mention smells terrible. Now, I get a large part of my weekly workload from dismantling combined washer-dryers and cleaning out the rotting buildup of soap and lint. This has nothing to do with cleaning a lint filter because the hot air and lint is surrounding the wash drum during the cycle before the filter is engaged
Now this issue is no where near as prevalent in separate washing machines and dryers.
As for serviceability, this product weighs around 300 pounds, there’s no way tat can be safely handled, moved around your house etc by 1 person, where as an average size refrigerator for example weighs around half that much.
So it’s a bit rich of you with all your experience with this matter to judge what I experience daily.
