  • A quick followup to my last video. I've replaced the arduino completely with a motor controller that has a built in PID controller to turn the head to a given point.
I was able to use software in windows to tune the PID loop and tell the MC I was using a potentiometer. With those settings flashed to the MC I can use an Arduino to control it with commands like "go to this position with this acceleration and deceleration" over packet serial.
Advantages over the Arduino/Drok setup in my previous video:
    • Much higher PWM frequency means no high pitched whine from the motor
    • Offloads processing from the Arduino and can read the pot values much quicker
    • Can deal with loads upto 30A
    Disadvantages:
    • Uses more space
    • About 10x the cost

Hey I want to use the roboclaws for Rc mode. Could you show me how you wired it up to run in RC mode with Potentiometers

Can you add acceleration values to the roboclaw in RC mode too? Or only in serial mode?
