  • COVERING A SCAR WITH MAKEUP
    AKA COVERING FACIAL SCARS
This video, Covering a Scar with Makeup, was shot a while back - maybe 6-8 weeks after my Mohs surgery. I am now about 3 1/2 months post surgery and the incision now looks much better. Although I had not really wanted to show anyone the incision until it totally healed, some of my viewers are wrestling with cover a scar with makeup and so I decided they needed me to "bare all" to show just how I cover my incision. If you are wrestling with covering a facial scar, bless you. I know it is not easy. One positive, though, is that over a year or so, facial scars and incisions usually heal beautifully, and become almost invisible.

You are a third of the way through a year of healing, and recovery, Beth, and your incision looks fabulous! You don't have any redness, or puckering along your incision line, and it is already starting to settle, and flatten! Your current concerns about your incision site will be temporary for you, Beth, and remember that it represents a very successful treatment for skin cancer! You've figured out how to cover your incision until it is completely healed, and you have helped others who are also struggling with their various facial deformities by sharing your story. Well done, missie! Dermablend Professional has a number of very useful foundations, and concealers that were designed to provide full coverage for acne, age spots, blemishes, hyperpigmentation, birthmarks, redness, bruising, dark circles, rosacea, and scars. I used one
many years ago to cover my subtotal thyroidectomy incision after it became quite inflamed, and reddened post op; it actually took several years for it to flatten, and for the redness to dissipate. Hope you are having a lovely Saturday, Beth! Love, and hugs, Sherrey💘

I am 5 days post Mohs surgery and reconstruction, left with a 4" long raised scar down side of nose and across cheek. Swelling and pain is subsiding. But oh, how awful my nose looks! Very misshapen, crooked, one nostril much larger than the other, and hiked up on one side. I used to have a lovely nose! I realized on day 2 that if I prayed prayers of thanksgiving for all the blessings in my life it made it easier to look in the mirror. 28 stitches come out in 2 days. I plan to talk to doc about my misshapen nose--he simply must fix it! Thank you for saying mohs scars take 10 to 12 months to flatten out. I was being told vague things like "oh, 3 or 4 months, maybe more." Also, thank you for all the advice about covering scar with makeup. My husband suggested I ask doc for makeup advice (for future) but I trust your advice more. Thank you!

My mother just had major surgery to have a melanoma removed from her face. She's very down about how she's going to look. I looked for videos of women who use special makeup for facial scars and found you and am sharing your video with her. It's the best one I saw in so many ways because of how you approach it.
You're an inspiration - beautiful inside and out! Thanks so much for bravely sharing both your outer and inner process. Beauty indeed comes from what we feel inside. You're absolutely radiant and very much appreciated!

Hi John. God bless your mother and having had that sort of surgery on her face. I know from personal experience how difficult that can be, but it is possible to get through it and get to the other side and look really good. I pray she will have God‘s healing hands around her, and that her face would look just as good as new in a short period of time. Pardon my emphasis on God here I am actually talking to you in the middle of my morning devotions, and I feel strongly that God will protect her. God bless you both. She’s lucky to have you.

Hi I stumbled across your video when searching for a way to hide a scar above my lip from having a basal cell carcinoma removed yesterday...I have six stitches...I’ve had this growth for at least 5 years and was totally not prepared to hear it was cancer as my mum just died four months ago from pancreatic cancer...so you can imagine the horror when I was told the news...I’m still in shock and disbelief that I had this and am now left with a scar...but I’ve accepted it and will not let it rule my life..thank you for your wonderful positive attitude and the wonderful tutorial...God Bless you xo

God bless you too Gail and I'm sorry to hear about your scar but VERY glad they discovered the problem. You are right, it is not easy have a facial scar, but I also needed to have the lesion removed. I actually stumbled across a pic of my face from several years ago and I have to admit that the lesion I had didn't look very good either. Scars on the face can take up to a year to heal so please have patience. I am so sorry to hear about your mom. My sister in law is suffering just mow from some sort of problem with her pancreas and although it's not cancer she is seriously ill. That is a tough issues to deal with. Blessings to you. Beth

AnneP "sent me over" from her channel. She "busted" you on your age, but, I suspect you've "busted" yourself in past videos. I can't say "I hope I look as good as you when I'm your age", because I'm 3 years your junior, and you look way, way better than I could ever imagine looking!!! Temporary facial flaw or none!! Which, by-the-way, is totally invisible with your makeup on camera!! Thank you so much for loving yourself enough and being brave enough to expose your temporary flaw to show us how you make it fade away!

Susie, Bless you. I can't imagine the unbelievable loss you must feel in losing your beloved son. My words are totally inadequate to express the unimaginable. My heart truly goes to you. I will add you to my prayers. I was in a verbally abusive first marriage long ago and it took me years to heal from that. You are one of God's most special children. Please try to imagine the love He feels for you and give that gift of love to yourself. He wants you to have the joy of loving yourself. I am also working on this "project" and we probably never get it right but it's worth pursuing. There is a book called Mirror Work by Louise Hay. It's on Amazon and it helped me a lot with self love. Maybe it would help you too. Blessings to you. I wish you great happiness and love. Beth

Hi Beth, As soon as I see your videos, I click them. Wow, I know you have mentioned that you have an incision. You do a great job covering it up. Dermablend is a fantastic product. "Makeup is magical". I completely agree.Lately, I have been trying to find a brow tutorial. I don't know what it is, I can never get them to be OK without taking along time. Yours are perfect! "I am willing to love myself". It took me along time to love myself but slowly it has come.

I'm 38, I don't wear makeup a whole lot, but I do wear it none the less. I have a large scratch scar from my cat above my right eye, that actually goes from the inner corner to the outer corner almost,it could have been worse I'm sure, if I didn't wear glasses. (She smelled another cat on me and went postal, and my eye was the worst scratch of them all, she got my hands, the back of my shoulder and the back and top of my head and neck). I'm glad I came across this video, 'cause I'll be wanting to hide it until Halloween, then I'm gonna make it look like stitches or something, lol.

Hi jessica. I am so sorry that you had to run in with that cat! I grew up with cats and I can’t imagine a cat doing that! Again I can’t imagine going through that but it sounds like you are making the best of it even though I know it is difficult. Take care of yourself and I hope you have a good week.

Good video Beth, your correct when you say that in a year your scar will become almost invisible, my scar which is virtually like yours only mine goes right up into the corner of my eye, is almost undetectable, no one notices it unless I point it out and that's with out make up on, I'm 3 years post removal. I also wanted to let you know the other lesion I got removed last month has turned out to be benign and I don't need any further treatment, so good news.

When I had a newer scar I used the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye, even though my scar was not under the eye. Then the It CC cream foundation ( spf 50) and I set it with the Bye Bye Pores like you did. It worked great. During the day I reinforced the spf with the Color Science powder since you have to keep it covered from the sun as it heals. And YES YES YES on the healing visualization.

Bless you. I have been there and it is difficult to get through seeing your face with a scar. It does get better over time but really the first three-four months were truly difficult. Just try not to look in the mirror much and pretty soon start using the dermablend. It really works well. Also, the doctor said it can take up to a year and a half to see the final healing result. It will end up that you won't even be able to notice the incision but it does take time. I am 8 months out and it is still not totally healed, but it is A LOT better. Love you! XXOO

you will never know how it feels until you got one on your face. it hurt like hell, you can't even do anything, it feels like everything just turn around and there is no hope. because scar will stay for the rest of your life. everyday i spend for crying, every time, morning, afternoon, evening, crying on my bed. there 2 type of scar, one we call it acceptable scar, and not acceptable scar. when you have scar that not acceptable, like from accident, that's when true pain came. the world just stop, scars suck, i hope there is a technology soon that can erase a scar. why there is still no anything that can erase scar ?? so many people in this world will have a better life or second chance if something can erase a scar. even when you get to the point when you can accept it, there still no 100% accepting the scar. it more like just live must go on. so you learn to live with it and will still hate it for the rest of your life. or maybe it just me.

Hi I am not sure if you would see older updates to videos or not. I have been using a tiny amount of Retin A on my eyelids for the last few months. I did get peeling and I do notice the skin has tightened up quite a bit. I mix it with my nighttime serum and tap it all over my face including my eyelids and I see a reduction for sure. I notice decent results from Retin A already and it's only been about 5 months. My skin is baby soft and looks pretty good except for a peeling patch on my chin. It doesn't seem to want to heal up any time soon. I think it's very successful for me! Thanks for your great advice. xoxox

Hi Beth, I've just recently stumbled across your videos & I'm now subscribed & enjoying your content. Just a couple of comments on your "Covering Scars" video. As an older gal my eyesight is a bit worn out so it would b really helpful if u could really scoot in there & show "up close & personal" cos I just can't see any scar or incision in this video. I saw a slightly darkened area but would not have know it was an actual incision point unless u had told me. And as u mentioned at the start of video it was your aim to do just that. So in order to do that it would be very helpful if you could zoom right into the area you're talking about. I watch many of the other ladies you mentioned in your video & I think they're all great. I luv your positive outlook & will continue to support your channel!

So sad that we have to worry about marks on our face and jut say fck it and it is what it is , its so sorry to see that we have to worry about concealing what is, thinking it is a statement on how we feel and who we are as a person, who gives a shit on what others think we are who we are with are imperfections take it or leave it, we have to accept who we are what will we do when we are old and there is nothing we can do to improve are appearance and wrinkles empower are features will we accept us and still feel beautiful, or will we wither away and think that life is no longer worth living cause we are no longer acceptable to the standards of beauty...fck the standards and start feeling beautiful no matter what we do or what we wear or how we wear our makeup to hide our imperfections , learn to love us as we are and not worry about our imperfections life is so much more than what we see , live and experience life way behind beauty and see the beauty in just living living life as we are and just accepting our uniqueness and moving forward and love ourselves as we are and not fear of our outer appearance and rejoice and love who we are from the inside out.....what a revolution !!!!

I couldn't agree more! It's so sad how we are targeted by the beauty industry, which has everyone in a tizzy because we're aging!! Is the alternative more preferable? Don't think so! I'm single now, because all the men in my age bracket want girls young enough to be their granddaughters!! I'll pass. I want to be loved, for EXACTLY WHO I AM, JUST AS I AM! Thank you, great comment. 👍

You know we go through our teens and then 20's,30"s,etc..feeling that our looks are the most important thing and feeling rotten if we have a zit on our face never really feeling comfortable in our skin, being comfortable in our skin now should be that we are able to go out the door with no makeup on and who gives a shit or worry if we see somebody we know, its also not fair that a man never gets told he is over the hill at 50 and should get a facelift they seem to age gracefully and look more distinguished what is that...:) they are still trying to get men into all the hype for their appearance but alot of them don't fall for it...and Marc C...who wants a man who's priorities are who is hanging on their arm makes him look better, there are good one's out there that looks aren't number one, I found one!!!...:)

Thank you for this video. It is very good timing as I used arnica cream after botox bruise and it left an indentation scar, so upset. I will be trying this.

Sherry, That's just awful! I am so sorry to hear that! I have been using Mederma cream and it works well. Also, you could have a plastic surgeon inject just a bit of fat there to fill in the indention if you want. Love you! XXOO
