I too, stopped reel mowing and WOW I forgot how nice of a short cut rotary mower can give!
Btw congrats on 25k! 🎉🎉🎉
welcome back to the rotary mowing side. congrats on 25k!
I like that you switched because regular mowing relates to me and most subscribers.
Just got a brand new Toro Recycler Smart Stow with the Personal Pace. I absolutely love it, seems to leave a few straglers when I cut so I am overlapping my cuts now by a few inches. Seems to fix the issue, just about too head out and mow the lawn now, have a great sunday 😊
First Aussie 😁 congratulations on 25 K subscribers, got to enjoy the mow , it’s great Lawn Therapy. 😎
Congrats on 25k!!
Why battery tho you have the timemaster why not just use that?
Convenience. I like the Timemaster in the bigger backyard.
I did the same exact thing about 2 months ago with the same exact mower. I got the Big League Striping kit and it works great but you can no longer use the stowaway option.
I don’t know why, but when I pull back the handle on my Super Recycler sometimes it won’t go in reverse. I push it forward a little bit and try again, sometimes it works sometimes it don’t. A little upsetting for a new mower.
Congrats on 25k
25k congrats 🍾🎉
rocking the Savannah Bananas shirt! long way from Savannah
I love your mower! It is awesome
I would think your wife would be saying;" You mean to tell me you spent all that money on a greens mower and now you're not going to use it?" * I will never go back to using a rotary mower for my front again. As soon as I bought my reel mower, immediately my grass took off to the next level. It's way too hard to keep a rotary blade sharp. A rotary wacks the grass and the sharpness soon starts to dull just a bit leaving a light brownish tinge across your lawn from the tips being frayed. Grass looses water moisture when that happens and increases disease pressure with the frayed tips. * I love my reel mower and will always use it because of the difference. Oh, and one more thing, I agree the down side is no suction, but I mow up and then back, and then cross mow( a triple cut) and that gives me a very clean cut. It helps that I only have 1500 Sq. Ft. * Just wanted to share my ideas. I hope it continues to work out good for you. You must have a flat lawn. I never spread sand to level my lawn but I mow at an inch to 1 1/8" so it's really not an issue. I used to scalp in areas with the rotary though. But never with my reel. Take care jim
Looks great!! My wife wouldn’t care either😂 all she worries about is making share I pay my share of the irrigation bill in the summer!
Congrats on 25k!
Pls upload a video about the hudson star mower....thanks
Jimmy, please do a video about Toro 60 V max etime master bagging the grass clippings. Thanks.
good job on 25k!
Idk your wife, but I'm guessing she doesn't even care 😆
Probably not 😂
Let's be honest, She's just happy you're out of her way. If she's like my wife, she's happy my OCD has found a home.
The Toro SR 60v gives one of the best cuts whether gas or battery.
Still looks solid!!! Good job!
Oh I thought you were doing 3/4 cut when you decided to change. I must have missed something with the increase to 1 inch.
Does an electric mower shred leaves as well as a Honda gas mower would?
Like in the fall when you have a thick layer down and you want to shred them pretty fine and uniformly
The only issue I'm running into with battery mowers is the battery... 2 years of use and it no longer cuts half the yard. Cheers on identifying a way to streamline your cutting.
I keep my lawn at 5/8". No way anything other than a reel mower would work for me. Glad you are happy but I thought the GM1600 was doing a better job.
Just wanting to mix it up a bit.
I would think reel mowing is for less than an inch cut. I think my Atlas lowest setting is 1 1/8". So I cut at that for my front, 2" for my backyard.
Yes 1" or less for sure. Can definitely agree with that.
The thing I most miss about my rotary mower is the vacuum feature if they came out with a real mower that had a vacuum feature ! that would be awesome! 👍🏻
Obviously you cut once with a rotary and then finish with the reel for that clean cut! Everyone has time for that.
Are you running into any scalping now that you switched back to the rotary mower? How long has the battery lasted.
Did I understand correctly? You are now using a rotary mower and cutting at the same level and quality of cut as you do with a reel mower.
Yes. Very similar cut quality. But not 1:1 by any means. Good enough for most people.
I tried reel mowing my yard at 2 inches and it doesn’t lift the grass enough to give a good cut. Loving the m18 mower since getting it a year ago.
Yeah that would be too tall for reel mowing.
I've rotary cut my back lawn at 1.25" for the past 2 years and as long as you keep your blades sharp it works great. Great time saver over reel mowing. Congrats on the milestone.
I’m still all gas. Cost has been my reluctance. Are the batteries and chargers expensive?
I'll stick with the reel.
👍
Congratulation Jimmy. Well deserved
Thank you, Grace. Appreciate you watching all this time.
Quitter! 😂
😅
Also live in Utah. How much additional inputs in water and fertilizer has a 1" short cut lawn required over a more traditional HOC?
None
@@JimmyLewisMows Thanks for the information. Do you recall how much water a week you applied during this years ultra hot July? I applied 1.75" with hydretain.
I’m watering around 1.25” a week over 3 watering days. Once temps cool off I’ll be back to two waterings totaling 1” per week.
@@JimmyLewisMows That's impressive! August has been kind of cool for this time of year, were you able to only water 1.25" during July too?
Ya.
How often are you having to sharpen the mower blade on the 60v Super Recycler? When I had it I was having to sharpen it every 3rd mow. I recently sold that mower and I'm trying out the Milwaukee m18 battery mower. I mostly use my 30in timemaster.
Haven’t sharpened it yet. I typically sharpen 1-2 times throughout the season.
I sharpen my timemaster after 3 mows of 5,000'
I think it could go 5 times if your not picking
up sand & dust, but it is less to take off if you
sharpen more often.
My 21" snapper can only go 2 times & it is really
dull compared to the toro 30".
The shorter toro blades are much easier to
handle & sharpen.
I use a file, time consuming but works well.
@JimmyLewisMows I have to or the tipsnof my grass blades looked ripped. The blades doesn't have any nicks for chips either..🤔
The stow- Away feature makes it easy to wash the deck and change the blade.
Make sure to note the time it takes her to notice, that way you have a similar window on her next haircut.
She saw this video and said she never noticed 😂😂😂
New subscriber..where RU & what's your grass. ?
Utah. Bluegrass and rye.
But am I wrong that your are sporting a Savannah’s Bananas shirt?
lol@battery
How long does the battery last for?
I have a recycler and I have a stock battery and it says about 45 minutes but I know it doesn’t do that. It takes 2 batteries for a 8800 sq ft lawn
@@tim66214 good to know, thank you sir
I usually keep a 7.5Ah battery in it and get 3-4 mows out of it on my front yard (2000SF)
Cutting at an inch? In certain arras that would destroy you grass. Interesting that i get calls from people with battery mowers that they just died and they cant mow because it died only after 2 or three years. On another note i tried a miluwakee battery powered back pack sprayer. It last 5 minutes on a full 24 hour charge. Took it back and now i have gas powered one. Just saying.
You have a gas powered backpack sprayer?
@@fadetoblack51yep.
@@user-ks2jt4fp8p my m18 switchback uses no battery even with a 1.5 ah battery
First
Reel mowing was and still is just a Lawn UA-cam phase..... Grass looks less green and requires triple the maintenance and mowing at least every other day.
I think these robot lawn mowers are for lazy people. I can see owning one if I traveled a lot or for elderly people. I bought my parents one that cost me $3400 and my dad made me take it back because it was for lazy people, At 78 years old he still cut his own lawn. He said if I die behind the mower let it be. He still refuses to let me or my brother cut his lawn. I still send someone over to my parents' home to clean their home. My dad cannot say anything to the women
because I hired someone who doesn't speak english.😁
Lazy? No. Busy or incapable? Yes.
Robot mowers are ideal for those who may be out of town often for work. Or just don’t want to dedicate time to mowing a lawn. Each product provides a solution for different use cases.
Most Robo motors are for people who hate lawn care..😂
Traitor! lol
Already making a comeback 🙂
