    A SA policeman told me there were 5 raids in the high end Dominion area. The Cartel moved in & brought trouble.

    Homes and taxes are very expensive here in SanAntonio. Summers are really hot. I’m from Michigan and have been in SanAntonio for 2 summers. Can’t really do much outside from April through October. We 😮are just now getting into the 80’s. Winters are nice.

    Most of the "suburban" area is also in San Antonio city limits, though there are about a dozen independent cities that are completely enclaved, plus the cities northeast along I-35 that are quickly turning San Antonio and Austin into one big metropolitan sprawl.
    The spark for San Antonio took place circa 1940 - Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, and Terrell Hills incorporated within a two year period. That was half of the city's northern border at the time. The city saw the writing on the wall and spent the rest of the twentieth century pursuing what was euphemistically called an "aggressive annexation policy". Today, it's to the point that San Antonio and Bexar County might just as well consolidate.

      I suggest looking to live near your place of employment. Traffic is becoming insane and with the heat makes it even more frustrating. Northwest and northside Central downtown is nice but if you have to drive on 410 or 1604, expect an hour delay for the most part.

      We rented at Braunfels Place in New Braunfels. Great location to look around from. Literally walk to the new HEB on Walnut and there's a Walgreens and Chase Bank across the street.

      @@LifeinSATX Pleasanton and Poteet both have new construction neighborhoods. Jourdanton has a hospital that’s part of the Methodist Healthcare System. Poteet is 20 minutes from San Antonio; Pleasanton, 30. Pleasanton has a beautiful park on the Atascosa River. Small town life close to the city. At least check it out.

    It is so wild to me that someone is saying that just under half a million dollars for a home is "affordable"... what that tells me is I'll never be able to afford a home and I was born in San Marcos. The Guadalupe is the only river that feeds into Canyon Lake and it hasn't flowed into it in over two years now - hope they get more rain 😣

    • @LifeinSATX
      @LifeinSATX  8 місяців тому

      $500k is not necessarily “affordable” but for a middle class family it’s definitely still doable. When you look at the new construction, they are making such good deals on interest rates it makes the payment more affordable than it would be. Don’t give up hope! There are also plenty of truly affordable homes in SA that are around $200k still.

    • @Brandon_Lambert
      @Brandon_Lambert 7 місяців тому

      I’m with you, my family can’t afford more than 200k for a home. Which used to be possible in many areas just a few years ago but not now unless you want to raise your kids in the hood….. if it was just me I’d do it but not with 4 kids

    Alamo Heights is the Hoity Toity part of town.It,s not cheap living there, I do love the bungalows, Olmos Park is an other expensive area.If you go east, You have Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels,.even places like Marion towards Seguin is growing.He isnt telling you about all the traffic you face daily.IH35 is considered the worst road in San Antonio ,after that Loop 1604.They won't be great schools with the Federal Government and State of Texas cutting funding to school districts .The Govenor and his crew is pushing school vouchers, so that means more of your property tax dollars funding these charter and religious schools , plus what will be left of the public schools .People are pulling their kids out and even home schooling.That,s why SAISD is closing schools. Wish all these rich Auslanders would go somewhere else.He,s not telling these folks ut gets Hot here! Has been over 100 degrees all week.Also, we have water rationing so no lawn watering for you except on certain days. Because if all these people moving here no homes under 300k.Any homes in New Braunfels, selling at 100K or under, are older homes needing work ,older neighborhoods some not so good.Great , didnt kniw the school district here in Schertz- Cibolo schools were grade Z.

      @clairelivefreeordie2551 the majority of people here are uneducated, obese and the city is the poorest city in America, there is trash and graffiti everywhere and property crimes are rampant. The city doesn't clean or mow the right of ways and intersections so grass and weeds are overgrown, it's just an ugly city...

      @clairelivefreeordie2551 it's basically north Mexico, the border has moved north to San Antonio, there are lots of run down neighborhoods and a bunch of old banged up cars on the road...there is nothing to do here and it's boring, if you like tacos served from a taco trailer then this is the place for you..

    • @LifeinSATX
      @LifeinSATX  Рік тому +3

      San Antonio is an older city. Just like every city in America, it has older, run down neighborhoods that have been the same for 50+ years. It’s not even close to “north Mexico”.
