As a long time resident, the processing center opened up without any notice by converting a closed business and my first thought was the poor residents who live in neighborhoods adjacent to it. The city of course stated that crime wouldn’t rise around it but statistics aren’t released. North Star Mall has one of the highest crime rates and it’s just a few blocks from the center. The statistics within a 5 mile radius of me used to post a breakdown of the type of crime as well as the actual numbers, showing it on a pie chart. Now we only get to see percentages. We never had shootings until we were inundated with massive apartment complexes nearby , getting tax abatements for 10 years if they take in low income people. We went from zero to maybe one or 2 a year to 6-8+ a week. Since they don’t release numbers, just the percentage we are supposed to be reassured that the 8% rate doesn’t change. That means that 100 crimes occurred and 8 were shootings before they stopped releasing the actual numbers, but as the number of crimes rises, the percentage might not change. So if there’s now 1,000 crimes per week and the percentage is still 8, that means there would be 80 shootings. The city officials are trying to downplay the crime rate. The Democrat leaders never asked voters about becoming a sanctuary city, nor this center, but the city gets millions of dollars from the federal government and the Catholic Charities also receives millions. Forget about separation of church and state, it should be prohibited to receive government funding when affiliated with a tax exempt religious charity. The Catholic Church is one of the richest religious organizations in the world yet they are receiving federal funds. The city is using the illegals as a business for the city. It’s shameful especially when they call it a humanitarian crisis, but ignore the poor taxpayers. The federal government is not helping Americans who are victims of the recent storms as much as they are people who entered illegally.

Greetings from San Antonio! Your video is mostly correct. That's why most of us Texans care so much about 2nd Amendment rights and tend to lean conservative. It's kind of sad to see how this city has changed over the last 20 years.
I lived in San Antonio for two years. My grandparents lived on the Southside. It just kept getting worse, glad I left. Crime is way up, homeless people wandering around is up. Gang violence is up. You used to go to downtown and see the Alamo and see no homeless people, not anymore. They are everywhere. Every night we would hear gunfire, that was near Southwest side by Lackland AFB. Some nights the gun shots were more like a shoot out. Police never showed up, btw. And then there were the nightly races on the freeway. If you didn't get to hear/see that you were missing something special. SAPD said they were aware, finally, of the issue of street races and were taking steps to fix the problem. That was a few months ago before I moved. I was like come on man, ya'll been knowing, and have done nothing for years. My pastor friend called for PD when some suspicious men were outside his church, they never showed up. Even after he called three more times. People in the city care, but be careful who you elect. Those people take all the money and line their own pockets. Check out Corpus Christi next time and see the giant potholes that city has been 'working' on for years. Blue cities are crime ridden shitholes. Stay away!
Parents live on the East Side of San Antonio. Moved there back in 2019 and even since then it's got 10x worse. A lady last summer was shot in the head and killed right outside my parents house. It was a pretty crazy experience.
San Antonio has had the highest populations of stray dogs and cats in the entire country for a few years. We have plenty of free spay/neuter programs, even free buses that offer those services hosted in HEB parking lots sometimes. It’s no kill shelters that we believe in, actually - they’re just constantly over-crowded because the city has it the worst in the country. Also, dogs can get out of their owners yards quite often if their fencing isn’t properly constructed. People often resort to burying chicken wire under wood fencing to deter that here in the neighborhoods so dogs don’t dig their way out into the road. Many that look like strays may not be strays just because they don’t have collars, they could be chipped. Look out for rewards posters for lost pets and help bring them home.
Hi there. I live in N.central San Antonio, near the airport. There was an arrest of 19 individuals related to the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, at the apartments next door to me. So, north side too.
I’ve been to San Antonio, Texas. I can’t believe how bad it’s gotten with the illegal immigration since I was last there. Things got to get better. Let’s vote Trump for 2024!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Life long Texan here. There are ways to stop this. One is to elect people that will uphold the law and do what we tell them we want done. Another way is more personal and up close. But UA-cam would block my response if I actually said it.
You can say it,you just have to tip toe around the wording. We are the dumbest country ever, most of us know how to fix it,start w/ voting red & not just President, state & local government deserve the blame as much.
Its been happening under trump and will continúe to happen if trump wins.. if he does i cant wait to rub it in yalls faces that trump wasnt gonna do jack 😂
Get Real,Trump was in office, He started this, built a half finished wall and stopped because his faithful friend stole money from the funds. Trump will sat on his promise again.
San Antonio is run by far left liberals like our mayor and city council. The sanctuary city status has not helped one bit. Like all democrat ran large cities, we are all suffering from the added migrants, crime and drugs. We now have the tren de aragua gang because of Kamala’s open border policy. We must vote for change.
The mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirernberg, is not a Democrat. He is an Independent. The 10 City Council seats are officially Nonpartisan. While it may feel like a Democratic run city, it technically isn't.

@@CopiousAmountsOfDerpI literally ran here to say this. Houston is trash. It is the mystery machine of trash. I lived in San Antonio in the early 2000’s and I loved it. There were some shady people wandering downtown and there were news on tv about break-in’s, shootings, and other crimes, which was not common where I come from, in Europe. However, I never felt unsafe there, especially in my neighborhood. It breaks my heart to see this happening. Praying for San Antonio and Texas. 💗
I live here. Immigrants get ALL the jobs, 9 out of 10 apartments are held for them, and democrats have bought/forced out most Americans out of their houses on the northwest side of town so immigrants can have all the houses too. They have pretty much deemed from Medical center through 1604 to Bandera road to be for immigrants only. The homeless level is at rates like never before.
I am a foster here. I currently have a foster dog that was dumped, and we just took in one that was shot in the spine with a BB gun and is paralyzed now. It is awful here. Boxes of puppies on the side of a road or a park on the outskirts is very, very common. Our roadkill are dogs and cats.

THANK YOU for highlighting this, as a native here there were over 50 dead bodies found here in a semitruck trailer over an illegal immigration transaction gone bad. It's terrible. Other states that aren't border states cannot empathize.
Leaving San Antonio after being here for 6 months or so. Number one problem with Illegal immigration is the low wages. Cities honestly can't grow from a econimical stand point. Having a lot of people doesn't mean growth. No one can complete for extremely low wages and the only reason the roads are being fixed is because our UTSA. Those that have to pay taxes are being cremed because of the use of homesteading by illegal immigrants and anchor children.
My daughter and I lived on the Southside. I was raised on the Southside. We couldn't even go outside without some "male" approaching us asking for something. One day we caught one guy dismantling my daughter's bike. When I tried talking to him he spoke only Spanish. I speak it but I choose not to unless I really have to. It was looking more and more like Mexico. We moved two years ago to a brand new subdivision different district and part of town. Well lo and behold. Homebuyers are moving out, either they no longer like it or because they're in the military and they get stationed elsewhere. The home right next to us is now under some sort of contract where they house "illegals". At one point there were between 8 to 10 " males" staying there. At night from about 10 until around 430 a.m. our ring camera kept going off because they would come and go and because they don't respect other's property they walked on ours. No fence on front, HOA doesn't allow it. Most houses have side instead of back doors. They would hang out right outside and our doors are directly across from each other. They would party every weekend, sometimes even during the week. Beer, smoking cigarettes and other stuff. They would "literally" urinate outside between the two houses. A couple of times our camera caught them. The owner didn't know what was going on, he had been deployed for a few months. When he came back he found out and came over. He asked us what all was going on and we told him. He filed a complaint because originally he had rented out to a family, instead it was a bunch of men. The house continues to be rented out to people NOT from here and they love to party sometimes until 5 or 530 the next morning.. They ALL drive nice vehicles. They're not as dirty as the first ones but they do love hanging out there. They have NO respect. Someone is paying for them. Probably our tax dollars.
Any one take a look at property taxes in San Antonio? University (county) Hospital taxes just went up from 5-20%: thank an Illegal ( call it what IT is) for that 😠. Cannot wait for the massive deportation!
Same in Philly. A rental house full of Mexican men partying all night and hiring prostitutes. Drinking, smoking and urinating outside.. Cops at the residence at least 3 times a week🤦♀️

I heard they spreaded low income housing to nicer areas there so it was fair for low income families like immigrants, then crime sprung up in all those areas too! Pretty sad!
I'm pretty sure James meant the government as far as the illegals in San Antonio situation. There were reports Tren de Aragua had taken over a few apt complexes in San Antonio.
- Joe Biden in 2020 Democratic primary debate - “We immediately surge to the border for all those people who are seeking asylum. They deserve to be heard. That's who we are.”
I thought it was good growing up in the 60s, for me it changed after 911. This century has exponentially gotten worse & I've been waiting to use that word in the right context,I'd say I nailed it!
I was stationed at Randolph AFB on the NE corner of the city in the late '80's. The whole North half was mostly clean and safe. We'd go to the Riverwalk and other downtown locales without worrying about crime and homeless issues. Predominantly Hispanic, there was a strong "family values" culture at its core, and it was an inexpensive, relatively safe, fun place to live. Sad to see it now.
There's still a ton of nice in SA, this is def shown in a way to look as bad as possible and tbh compared to most major cities really ain't that bad imo

Most of the people here in SAT are Dems. They hit Select All for the Dem candidates when voting back in 2018, which resulted in nearly every single judge losing that election. Before that we had an awesome, highly efficient judicial system with Republicans who were very well educated with many years of experience and legal knowledge. The new Dem judges had very little and were mostly about social justice. As a result the cases are taking years to be resolved and these judges have not risen in knowledge to match their new job titles. It's hard to get justice with a thoroughly corrupt city government.
It's so scary, just caught a blame from San Antonio, weird it was like a jail cell in the airport. Crowds of people all wearing the same canvas type shoes, no English, angry looking people. Not nice at all.
A lot of stray dogs because the people don’t care. Much the same reason that so many are in poverty. Lack of personal respect turns into lack of respect for others.

People have been believing they are living in the Last Days ever since Jesus was crucified. ALL the predictions of a specific date for the Rapture, the Second Coming, or Judgement Day have been wrong. Hal Lindsey wrote in his 1970 bestselling book "The Late Great Planet Earth" that Christ would return probably no later than 1988. Jerry Falwell said in 1999 that the Second Coming would probably be within 10 years. Harold Camping predicated that the Rapture would happen on May 21, 2011, and the end of the world would follow on October 21, 2011. "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."

When I lived there back before 1996, I lived on the North side near one of the "rich kid" schools, which was where I graduated from 10 years earlier, I had 2 cars get stolen overnight over a period of months. One of the cars was stolen twice. And several times prior cars were broken into for the stereo system. I can only imagine how much the probability of that happening has increased.

Greetings from San Antonio! Your video is mostly correct. That's why most of us Texans care so much about 2nd Amendment rights and tend to lean conservative. It's kind of sad to see how this city has changed over the last 20 years.
It's 💯 %
@Xtraq100vet 😂 No
How that city has changed demographically in the last 20 years?
Stay away!
I HEAR you man! That's my neighborhood. Once peaceful its now a Shit-Hole full of Shit-Heads.
Probably a bunch of illegals and California people moving there causing places to look like holes
Parents live on the East Side of San Antonio. Moved there back in 2019 and even since then it's got 10x worse. A lady last summer was shot in the head and killed right outside my parents house. It was a pretty crazy experience.
If Santa Anna saw this San Antonio before he got to the Alamo, he’d would have turned around and gone back to Mexico.
He would have went back and built a sufficient wall 🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱
Santa Anna probably wouldn’t have let this happen to Texas.
Jajaja
Those areas look like you are in Mexico. San Antonio is a true nightmare for dogs. They don't believe in spay/neutering.
And I just called them Target practice!
Shocking 🙄
Because Texas has no laws on this.

I live here. Immigrants get ALL the jobs, 9 out of 10 apartments are held for them, and democrats have bought/forced out most Americans out of their houses on the northwest side of town so immigrants can have all the houses too. Sanctuary cities should not even be a thing in this country. State and local laws should not override federal laws.

Cannot wait for the massive deportation!

its in every state now it's so sad
I agree no more sanctuary states for now America can't take any more ,it's just to much ,God Bless America & God Bless TRUMP 2024 🎉❤🎉
Thanks for the San Antonio update Nick.
My wife and I are Aussie tourists heading over in Dec/Jan to Texas among other states. We wanted to see the Alamo down there but after seeing this we might steer clear.
I can’t imagine how upsetting it must be as Americans to have an illegal invasion endorsed by the Federal government.
I have been here over 40 years, so not worth the trip I am leaving, the whole city is a sad situation. Use to be amazing. Just do a virtual tour and it will be way better than risking your life. But it is now like this everywhere in the USA. 😞😓Stay safe.
The riverwalk is still a nice place to visit for tourists in SA imo
@@ramoncasa869 are you moving interstate or just out of the city?
Fiesta Week is the best time to come it’s in April. This guy has shown you run down old neighborhoods, not the beautiful neighborhoods or Sunken Gardens or the delicious BBQ joints. Lots to see here.
Keep it up. The best window into America I have seen for awhile.
Don't forget to thank our admin
Yeah!! Jesuit Admin!!!!
Yay, I'm early!
As always, thanks Nick for documenting our country! Crazy times we live in!
My father was an Air Force pilot and we lived in San Antonio in the late 1970’s.
It was rough then. Our house was broken into and we were robbed. All our cars got broken into at some point.
Thought it was a Caribbean country when the camera first started rolling 😮
SA ese, "Northern Mexico." 😎
I lived in SA for 11 years '89-2000.
I never had a car stolen prior nor after, but I had the same car stolen twice, even with a steering wheel lock on it, while living in SA! The second time, the entire interior had been stripped. Totaled.
Had a neighbor move in from LA California, and in less than a week, his car was stolen, and it was never recovered. Theft is just a fact of life in SA. Even if you lock it up, if they want it, they'll steal it.
Loose dogs is a Mexican culture thing as well. And they aren't "fixed" either.
I'd never move back to SA, and I'm a native Texan!
Go to the tourist areas and get out. The city is a lost cause. Sad. Unfortunately, our nation is turning into one massive dumpster fire. As the black gentleman said, End of Times are coming.
He asked what's going on in San Antonio? It's simple: Democrats, everything they touch turns to $h!t. In general, Texas is a "red state" , but the big cities are all blue now: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin are all blue cities. If you look at all the blue cities nationwide, they are all jacked up, including NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, LA, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Portland, and Denver
The stray dogs everywhere reminds me of places I've visited in Asia.
