    Honestly the Z1/36R is more fork than most people actually need.
    the Yari and 36 rhythm are IMO the most important forks on the market, they fill that OEM gap between between cheap stuff and "nice" high end.
    I own several Z1/Yari/36R's - they are sold off cheap here in NZ from people "upgrading" and i buy them to run on my bikes in the bike park etc
    also means my kids have these forks on their bikes. win win IMO.

      Totally agree. I sold this fork to my friend for a good price, and spent way too much on my Fox 38 Performance Elite. I’m happy with my new 38, but the rhythm 36 is a great fork. And wayyyy easier to setup 😂

    I just purchased a Marzocchi Z1 which is basically the same as the Rhythm 36. I believe the Z1 coil conversion will also fit the Rhythm. Congrats on your Performance Elite. I almost purchased the same but thought the Grip 2 might be too much tinkering for me. Knowing I can upgrade later sealed the deal for me.

    I like video and found it very informative. My 2022 Stumpjumper EVO came with this fork and so far works for the riding style at the moment. Glad you explain that the air shafts are different, I almost made the mistake of tearing down the 36R to upgrade the spring. As for the Grip 2 damper upgrade goes, yes it allows for a completely different feeling fork. Did the upgrade on the 38 on my last bike and it was night and day, just too many hours of dialing in the ride. Might do it on this fork. I hit like and will follow for more vids.

    I just have ridden my 36 Rhythm equipped bike for some weeks now. I am a pretty experienced rider, but was purposly going for the budget option Canyon Spectral 7.0 including that fork. Well, long term experience for sure still lacking, but easy set-up and up to now a decent performance. Was yet riding some harsh trails.

    • @JaredHoff
      @JaredHoff  2 роки тому

      Yeah, the Rhythm 36 is definitely good for a budget option. Super easy to setup. I did notice a huge difference when I got my performance elite 38 fork. The GRIP2 damper definitely performs better.
      But I did ride my rhythm on some gnarly trails and it still did it’s job.

    Great review, thanks. We have a 2021 Rhythem 36 on my wife's Levo, I have 60lbs in the fork based on her weight and I'm finding the fork sags about at least 15mm with no weight on it other than the bike's static weight. I can pull the fork out and it goes right back to this sag'd position. This doesn't seem right, shouldn't the fork be at or very near full extension with no rider weight on it regardless of having 60psi in it?

    Hey Jared, i recently paid $250 for a take off R36, 2021 160. I have two questions on this fork, 1) The fully closed position isn't has locked out as my older Rhythm, it still has some compression where the older one is rock solid, is that working properly? 2) I man not need the full 160, do I need a new damper to reduce the travel or can I do that with a spacer? Thanks for the help and great review.

    • @JaredHoff
      @JaredHoff  Рік тому

      1.) Yes, my rhythm 36 just added a ton of compression in the closed. It didn’t lock it out 100% so that’s normal.
      2.) I’ve never heard of someone reducing the travel on their fork. You can add volume reducers to ensure the fork ramps up and doesn’t use all of the travel as well.
      It’s obviously best to have to right amount of travel in the fork in the first place, but I’m all about buying a budget fork and making it work 👍🏻

    Hi there, very clever. I have one question that you might give an answer to: I got a brand new Orbea Rise with a 140mm 34 Fox FLOAT... is it an UP GRADE to replace it with this fork, the Fox Rhythm 36 in 150mm? I was looking t that extra 10mm also to arise the chassis a bit too... but I'm not sure that at the end the FLOT is a better fork overall. I'm looking for an all mountain ride aiming to get more into downhill rather than pedaling up. thanks a lot!

    • @JaredHoff
      @JaredHoff  Рік тому

      36 will be stiffer and adding 10mm of travel will help with downhill performance. But 36 with also be heavier, but not by much. Could be a good upgrade if you get a good price.
      Also, a lesson I’ve learned the hard way. Keep your stock fork so you can put it back in the bike if you ever sell it. You rarely get more money for having a more expensive fork on your bike when selling in the used market.

    Thank you for a great video. It is tricky to find this info online since its oem.
    I also bought a trek fuel ex 9.7 a few weeks ago. I did see in the specs of the bike that the airspring should be the "evol" version. Do you know how to see this on the fork?
    I thought I read somewhere online that the oem fork uses different tokens from the aftermarket versions, would you happen to know if that true and which ones I would need?
    My fork unfortunately didn't come with a oring on it, this made setting the sag a little more difficult, but used a tiewrap instead.
    Also, once you had your new aftermarket forks grip 2 dialed in, does is feel really different from the OEM fork?
    Thanks in advance, keep up the great vids!

    • @JaredHoff
      @JaredHoff  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for taking time to comment. I’ll do my best to answer. Stoked that you got the 9.7 it’s and awesome MTB!
      It’s very hard to find specs on this fork. I did my best to research everything I could for this video. From what I gathered the Rhythm uses a different air spring because it has different aluminum, with thicker walls. It has a FLOAT air spring, but doesn’t have the updated EVOL air spring that they use in the 2021 and later fox forks.
      The volume spacers are the same for all fox 36 forks, so you should be good there.
      The GRIP2 damper definitely feels a lot different than the OEM GRIP damper. A lot more support through the mid-stroke, and a lot smoother throughout the range of travel. But it’s definitely harder to get setup right.

      It seems strange that trek states on there own website that the 9.7 from 2022 would use the evol version of the airspring. But i noticed more info on there that made me doubt the correctness of it ;)
      And I agree with you that the fuel ex 9.7 is great. I am super stoked with it, even in our dutch version of a bike park, it did not disappoint! For me spending an additional 1000+ on a new fork any time soon, is a bit much. But I will definitely consider the upgrade to grip 2 in future.

    I am looking at getting my first mountain bike. Specialized has some good sale prices on stub jumper evo carbon bikes. I can get the comp version for$3,750.00. Or I could get the expert for $5000.00. The only real difference other than slightly better wheels and dropper post is the suspension. Comp version runs the rhythm fork with a float x performance shock. Expert runs a performance elite fork and float x performance elite shock. Is this upgrade in suspension worth $1250?

      @JaredHoff  Рік тому +1

      Rhythm fork and Float X performance is still good suspension. I’d go with the comp version. But once you go Fox Elite,,, it’s herd to come back.
