Who else is watching this because they have no dad
Mine died too young he was a great man. . . He just never had a chance to teach me
I don't need a dad...........i have youtube🤣
I have a dad but he suck at bbq
lol ME!
Yep
Omg...this was soooo helpful. I never let the coals soak before lighting the coals. I wasted so much lighter fluid because i would light the charcoals right after puring the lighter fluid, ugh. Thank you for the video!
This is the only video that gets it right.3- 5 minute soak, light and wait untill the coals are white to cook.
I tried helping someone near my tailgate light his grill and we didn't let it soak. We used the whole bottle to get his fire started. Next time I will let it soak for 5 minutes
I didn't know anything about soaking coals. Smh
In the instructions it says to light immediately. Damm scammers
I'm here because I never watched my parents grill out and I'm regretting it. Just bought my first grill and now I am going to attempt to grill out. Thank You for the tips.👍👍👍
How did it go brother?
Im using a grill for the first time today too so im looking
Can't wait to grill today for the first time! Thanks for the helpful video!
This video completely contradicted the instructions on my charcoal and lighter fluid, but it WORKED! Thank you. Not sure why the manufacturers said to immediately light the lighter fluid, but letting it soak was the fix.
I think because they want you to waste the whole bottle
By watching this simple video it just made want to grill some more. Thanks for the info. Have a great day and be blessed.
thank you so much larry, im gonna be charcoal grilling for my family for the first time today and this video is really informative. i just hope it goes well LOL
did it go well? 😅
Apparently not 🔥🔥
Thanks for the tutorial. You make it look easy. Thanks for sharing.
You made it look so easy tomorrow for memorial Day is my first time going to grill with charcoal and lighter fluid by myself thank you for not making this process look complicated
Me too! Tomorrow (Memorial Day 2020) will be my first time grilling, and by myself. We can do it!
what you mean? lol its easy there is nothing complicated about it
Great lesson, thank you Larry.
This tip was spot on! Worked like a charm! Thanks!!❤
I've been lighting barbecues wrong all along XD Granted, I haven't been doing it too long but still good to learn how to do it properly, thanks
I know this is an old video, but I STOPPED using lighter fluid or veggie oils long ago. I use denatured alcohol which is way cheap and super effective, especially when soaked into paper under the chimmney. Very fast start, no odor at any time. Only drawback I see is that the alcohol flame is nearly invisible and you can get burned thinking there is no flame present.
Thanks! So helpful. Trying to bbq for the kids without the man today.
Thanks for the tips Wolfman!
You're welcome Kevin! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for being so simple,,, 👍👍
thank you for this video gonna try this tomorrow
I've heard of wine snobs, but charcoal chimney snobs is new to me! They're all over these comments lol
Good stuff Larry!!
Dope video, helped out a lot !
Thanks Jordan!
My dad and grandpa used to do this, and they still do
you made it look easy
Came here for this. My dad used to use this method. In addition, my dad, who made great barbecue, never did anything but grill directly. This included when he smoked large cuts of meat. Thank you for reminding me of how it's done! Do you have a beginner series?
Good vid wolfepit man I cook for many people n I never tell um I use lighter fluid an NOBODY has ever asked if I use lighter fluid
First time I tried it took me forever to get the coals to catch. I kept pouring lighter fluid on it every time the coals were about to go out and I would just get huge flames. Then I bought a chimney starter at Walmart for like $16 bucks and it makes the biggest difference!!
Great idea! Thanks!
I have been bbqing for 33 years. I use nothing but kingsford lighter fluid or Royal Oak, but mainly Kingsford. I see a lot of videos on UA-cam that detest putting lighter fluid on their briquettes or on fire wood. Lighter fluid has become a phobia in recent years. Some mention kingsford “match light” ok there are exceptions to the rules. “Match light” has been soaking in lighter fluid for months or even a year or longer..I have tried it out of curiosity and, yes the meat tastes like lighter fluid. Another mistake people make is they buy the cheap lighter fluid, that’s a no no.cheap lighter fluid doesn’t burn clean, that’s why the saying goes” you get what you pay for”. Don’t be cheap and get the good brands. I’m sure there are more good lighter fluid brands I haven’t heard about, but for now I’m sticking to kingsford or Royal Oak. Another mistake that people make is they add too much lighter fluid. One 32 oz bottle of kingsford last me no less then ten bbq’s.
Thanks! 💯
Thank you !!
This is the best I have seen yet. The corn on the Cobb tasted awful like lighter fluid! If you don't know go to UA-cam people!!!!
Next time my food will be excellent!
Thanks a lot man, these people around me are real dumbasses. This really helped lot. Definitely a thumbs up and sub.
+Nathan Boyer Thanks Nathan!
@Bruce Lee ...yeah, but you're acting like one as well...wow...so that makes you an asshole.
@Bruce Lee you look like one of his friends 😂
Great video Larry! So using 5 gallons of gas and a match to light a BBQ grill is over kill! LOL
Best method to light up a pit.
THANKS LARRRYYY!!!
Who else is watching this so they can b grilling this summer
Kingsford really does burn the best and fastest to be ready
Guy at our potluck successfully lit the table on fire trying to light the charcoal.
One problem with lighter fluid is that it gets on the body of the grill itself. A solution to this is to light the charcoal in something else and then put it in the grill after it ashes over.
Fluid on the grill wont hurt a darn thing. Might even be good for it. I have never started coals in a can. Never.
I save my used cooking oil and use that instead of lighter fluid. And it keeps me from putting oil down the drain...
Rico Gomas you’re never supposed spill oil down your sink, it fucks up the pipes
I've never thought of that! Thanks
That doesn't work
@@GhostOfZion I never spill it down my sink that's why I use it to start my charcoal...
@@hlp_emlove3390 works for me...
That's not the inferno method I learnt as a child, lol. That is the proper way Larry.
Thank you
In general I pretty much agree with "Wolfe" . All I was ever saying was from what I have read, with lighter fluid, you really have to wait until the fluid is burned off and coals have burned down to a complete gray before you can cook after using it I do stand by my belief that all petroleum distillates are not only carcinogenic when ingested , they are also rather poisonous. I would recommend exercising caution with the stuff.
I’m home alone no man around. I want some bbq ! Don’t think I put enough fluid on the charcoals.
I used to use lighter fluid. It always left a funny taste to the food. Once I discovered the chimney method there was no turning back. It is the best. I even use it to start a few coals when I do the snake method. Don't have a propane torch...but I might get one! No lighter fluid though.
Legend
1 cup of lighter fluid. GOT IT! thanks
Thanks
Hey Larry !!!
Thank You for the Fantastic Tips Brother !!!
Throw me a 16 oz Ribeye on those Fine Lookin Coals !!! LOL ...
Thank You Larry !!!
Won't argue with your method because it clearly works well. I do have a question however. Why do charcoal lighter fluid bottles instruct you to light the charcoal immediately after applying?
I'd like to know the same
Because that's what you're supposed to do. Waiting only lets much of the fluid evaporate, and also increases the the potential for "gas taste"
That's genius af why I never thought about that I was adding newspaper to the fire lol.
Thats some hood stuff ma 😂😂😂
LMFAO who does that 🤣🤣🤣
I do 😆 newspaper
Lol girl yes! Anything to catch that blaze and get to cooking 😅
I know it's costly but I just pour in an entire can and then drop one match in and it explodes into flames
Hell yeah. Gotta move tf outta the way before i become toast 😂😂😂😂
@@dellis4320 it makes the food taste like QAV-1 (jet fuel)
Oooo the good old days when I was young and couldn't grow a wicked beard....
that charcoal looked so satisfying when u poured the lighter fluid on it , idk why lol
Thank you for just simply giving us the answer
I feel dumb after watching this lol....my first time trying to light it up went very bad lol....after I pour the fluid I immediately fire it up
Don't feel dumb! That's why I make these videos, to try to help people! Hope it does help! Thanks for watching!
I was doing same thing 😂
@@TheWolfePit So you let is soak in for 5 minute
I light them immediately and have been for years and have never had an issue.
Trust me it's common. That's why this video has so many views
Might be a dumb question... but u don’t spread them out after?
Thanks dad
Should I add newspapers below the coal?
What you didn't get the can of gas from the garage?
so what did u grill with these coals.
Do you leave the lid open the whole time until the coals are nice and white or do you close it once the 🔥 has started ?
Leave the lid open you'll smother your fire out if u put the lid back on
Designer chars!
no wonder why I was wasting the coals. I wouldn't wait after soaking it. Would still have black ones here and there. I will say this though. If you wanted a nice steak at 9pm. You are in luck, it is hot and can sear a steak in no time. That was breakfast lol
An investment into a weber chimney starter is worth every penny and will last for years. Lighter fluid is consumed and you are constantly buying more. Don't go for the cheap flimsy chimneys. They are very unsafe and the handles can fall off at the most inconvenient time. Been there...done that.
Can charcoal be too old?
شكرااااا على الفديو
I have a dad be he never showed me . He died at the age 48 and i was in my 20s so i was to busy running the streets at that time . Now I’m 40 i regret not asking him
Now I know what I did wrong. Thank you!
Lmao damn mine have never lite that easy! I spend tens of minites trying to get these things to burn! Maybe im not letting the lighter fluid soak long enough? It keeps burning off b4 the coal lights!
Buy a charcoal chimney,it will change your life!
Yup charcoal chimneys is the way to go.
is it ok to close the lid when the charcoals are burning?
I wouldn't. The lighter fluid is evaporating, you don't want it to stick to the lid.
you don't need lighter fluid just 2 to 3 fire starters does it and lump charcoal is way better.
Lump charcoal burns out pretty quick its not good if u tryna cook for hours
I need help. I've tried this method 89 times in a row to no avail. I even bought a charcoal chimney, charcoal starters, cotton balls and a dozen canisters of napalm. All I managed to do was losing my left arm.
Is nothing easy?
Have you tried unplugging it then plugging it back in
@@TheReZisTLust had the same problem. Thank you it worked when I plugged it back in.
people make this out to be so much harder than it actually is
Everytime I've ever tried lighter fluid the fire just goes out after about a minute and the coals never gets very hot.
nespith are you letting them soak in the lighter fluid? That's usually what happens when you light it immediately after putting fluid on.
I have seen BBQ pitmaster show and they use lighter fluid........lots of it that's my way of doing it ..screw the chimney
Instructions unclear caused a massive forest fire
After watching this, i realized, i should stop throwing gasoline in my bbq/charcoals, thinking its faster....i think its bad for u.
Exactly 😂😂😂😂
lol
Why do you have it on one side of the grill ?
so you u can move the food to the cooler side to avoid burning or overcooking
I cheat by using an electric starter. 10 to 12 minutes usually gets those coals going just right.
JB's going to rip you a new one when he sees this Larry........ lmao!!!!!
I see the "purists" all the time swearing that if you use lighter fluid your food will taste like an oil refinery, and it's bull dookey! In my charcoal years (which are long past) I always used it, and I always waited until the coals were perfect for cooking, and there was NO taste of the starter fluid. Sure, if you start cooking while it's flaming, your burger will taste like it was the victim of an oil refinery fire. That's why you wait. LOL
I usually spray lighter fluid desperately until my bottle is half empty and the fire ball if past my roof 🔥
Walmart Expert odorless lighter fluid 🤟
Should I close the lid once the flame dies off?
Warndog Yes! And then control your heat with your top and bottom vents. The more they're open, the hotter it will get! Thanks for watching!
Larry
Thanks :D Been using propane my whole life. Just got a charcoal grill and have no idea what I'm doing haha.
+TheWolfePit thank u for this video. i am having a hard time. not sure what my problem is. my coals won't stay lit. 😳
+Sheri Carthan Sheri, make sure your top and bottom vents are open....if they're close it cuts off the oxygen and the fire cannot burn without oxygen. If your vents are open and your fire is still dying, put the lid on, but leave it cracked to let more air in. Hope this helps Sheri!
Larry
+TheWolfePit thank you for taking the time to respond! yes! both vents were closed! cant wait to try it again! Thank you!! 👍
I always make a pyramid light from the bottom
I’m here in 2020 trying to get ours going. Smh
☆☆☆☆☆
I wasted so much fluid I had no idea
Who do you think you are or I don't know your name is
Oh I just rip off the cab and pour the entire thing
To each their own...exactly. Maybe there's someone out there than can't afford a $20 chimney, but can afford a $5 bottle of fluid. .... Just saying.
I actually find the lighter fluid gives the food a little extra flavor, something I was use to eating as a kid. Those chimney starters are for trendy yuppies.
agh my eyes!! I cant watch @0:59
Then WTF would you click on a video labeled 'How to Light Charcoal with Lighter Fluid'? DA
You know, thats actually a damn good question. What am I doing w/ my life?
There is no good reason to use lighter fluid. Use a charcoal chimney instead.
I just use 100 octane gasoline.. who has 25 mins ? You rookies
Just do not do what Homer Simpson do.
Get you a chimney, I'll never use lighter fluid again
Only a idiot uses lighter fluid on charcoal
Never worked for me. I appreciate the video but my guess is that the person who owns the grill bought cheapo briquettes.
The lighter fluid burns off in 10 seconds and never gets even close to ash colored like you ended up. I honestly avoid charcoal grills and would rather shell out money for a cheap gas grill instead if people go this route to save money. But Happiness is owning a 4 gas burner grill.
