They were going to but shitcanned the idea when they realised how much of the truck market it would have cut into and the profit margins for home made trucks is far more lucrative so it never happened.
Gm left me shaking my head. Originally we were suppose to get these back in 2010-2011 under the Pontiac division. I love these cars and glad I got a few badges for my collection when I was over in Australia. Thank you Holden for making cars that are truly head turners and true performance. (Ute, Commodore, ect.)

From my understanding such bodystyle nor the Commodore Wagon were sold here. Left Hand Utes in Denver does conversions for legal import, kinda lol.
A VIN swap per say. A rather grey area but seems to work for them. They do an extensive process to make it happen.

They are quite big here in New Zealand and Australia, mind you we don't have a big market for the Ford and Chev trucks like you see over there. In New zealand we have them both. There has been the odd commy ute made it to the states tho, the hassel to get it legal was unreal, pretty sure the fella done something dodgy ish with the numbers off what the usa calls a pontiac gto which is a holden monaro, something like that anyways.

When the commodore made it to the states, It was called the "SS".. They should of called it the Chevelle and also brought over the ute version of it and called it the el-camino! Then all of a sudden Chevy would've had 2 more classic iconic nameplates back in action! Not only would there be a charger competitor but also would of brought back one of the forever long forgotten segments for the states! UTES! (just saying!)

LHD on the Holden no probs - the coupe was sold as a Pontiac GTO in LHD. So yet another missed chance, GM is trying to get us into Escalades here in Europe. Well, the mums here prefer the x5 and the like, they’re easier to park. However an AMG rival with a boring US V8 but proper suspension? There’s only the Mustang here with proper warranty and lease contract back-up. And the long delivery times for that show there’s demand. Really a pity, for us petrolheads globally and the workers in oz locally.
