- Hey folks! Exciting news - I just upgraded my rig to the Fractal FM3, replacing my FM9. The FM3's compact size and powerful features are perfect for my on-the-go guitar gigs. Plus, the recent update adding gapless capabilities seals the deal, ensuring seamless transitions between presets and keeping the energy high throughout our performances.

Awesome 👏
Nice video! Lots of great information.
Thanks!
I love my FM9
And it's still smaller then the pedalboard I used for years with a tube amp. I ❤ Fractal.
I'm actually really digging the FM3, it's a better fit for me than my FM9 was. The FM9 is great though for sure!
I've had to make a few concessions because I have less processing power and physical in/outs., but it's so small!
Before the FM9 came out you could have added the FC6 to your FM3 and had the OMG9.
Hello Dustin,
thanks for the great video.
One question. How do you use the FM3 live? (FRFR, Guitar Cab ...)
I look forward to your feedback. Ciao Pete
I use the FM3 straight into the FOH, with IEMs. However, I also send the guitar to a wedge so I can have feedback and note sustain when I need it.
Just bought the Kemper player, but still looking at the FM3. After watching this video I might just take the plunge. Now I have to sell my Axe-8
I don't think there is one perfect unit right now. They all do some things great. The FM3 has its shortcomings for sure, but for my gigs, it works great and the footprint is nice.
I just wish the virtual capo wasn't hot garbage for cleans so I could ditch the Digitech Drop pedal.
Great vid! I’ve been thinking real hard about switching from the FM9 to a FM3T with a couple of my favorite drive pedals. I want to be able to tweak on the fly.
Hey there! Something I realized after switching from FM9 to FM3 is that the cabs and reverb run at a lower quality by default. I noticed the sound was a bit different at first, but then I figured out what was going on. So, I made some adjustments to my preset to improve it. It's just a minor difference, but I thought I'd bring it up!
I'm still very happy I swapped over to the FM3. So much easier lug around.
@@DustinRadtke Thanks for letting me know. My main preset is only using 62% CPU on my FM9. I should be fine on the FM3. I did notice my verb is on Ultra high res. I could probably bump that down and no one would notice a thing.
What is your carrying backpack for FM3?
I don't use that backpack for my FM3 most of the time. It's my gear bag for when I run sound. It was more to show how easy it would be to carry if you did.
My FM3 is on a homemade pedal board 90% of the time.
It is a cool backpack though. I got it here. amzn.to/3Wl48OV
Could you tell us me about IEMs you are using.
I currently use the JHaudio JH13V2 PRO customs. I wish I could have heard them before I bought them. They are very balanced so you get the separation, but that makes them very uninspiring for me as a guitar player and back up singer. They have a bass boost which works nice, but I don't need that. I wish I could have more highs and high mids.
My rack unit is a Shure PSM300 P3T. No issue there.
Is the sound of fm3 and fm9 the same quality? Do you have the fm3 turbo?
On paper yes they are the same tones. But in the FM9 you can run your reverbs and cabs at a higher quality setting since it has more processing power. You can do that on the FM3 but it really limits how much you can have in your signal chain.
Yeah, I have the Fm3 Turbo. I'm really happy with it.
@@DustinRadtkethanks so much
I don't consider it downgrade... In fact with the realise of turbo edition... It's better than Quadcortex
I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other; they both have their strengths.
The Quad Cortex definitely packs more processing power, allowing for a wider range of effects in your signal chain. However, I personally lean towards the FM3 for its tone - there's just something about it that really clicks for me!
How much for the FM 9
I already found a new home for it. The new owner is moving from a Helix to the FM9, they will be very happy.
How much did you sold it?
