    I had started thinking the Fm3 was getting left behind, oh how wrong that was! Fractal recently released firmware 8.0 for the FM3 and with it brought something I really didn't think possible, gapless(ish) switching between presets. This is HUGE.
    I am noticing some of my main presets will need a tweak here and there, but the overall amp modelling has also been improved. There now seems to be a real clarity to the low/mid range that wasn’t there before, and I’m finding presets are not needing as much low shelf, or cut in the preamp. Nice!
    Let me know if there’s anything else in 8.0 you’d like me to give a deep dive! Thanks for watching :)

    That intro was epic :D
    I just finished learning one of your licks from your John Cordy cosplay vid, it was a really good lesson.

    Glad to see someone acknowledging the little gap, i thought i was going insane. I agree its probably good enough for most live situations

      @DavidBeebee  8 днів тому +1

      Yea, it's definitely fine for live, and surprisingly pretty close to the downbeat when I was recording this too, but there is for sure a teeny tiny gap, that gets bigger the faster you change preset to preset.

    The firmware 8 was released the day I got my FM3. Perfect timing! Great video mate. After you did this I went and checked and there is a momentary lapse before it switches. It’s only very small but I hadn’t noticed it until you said. But there is no gap so that’s the magic part. I don’t get how they do it

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks m8. Yea, it’s kinda odd, there is technically still a gap, but in practice (if you watch the 8.0 switch test) it’s pretty much bang on, changing with the downbeats, going from clean, to picked chime to chunky riff etc. And you really notice the difference in the back to back with 7.0. Incredible update all in all!

    Great video. Where would you recommend to buy an FM3 for UK delivery?

      Thanks for watching! I think the only place you can order fractal gear from is g66. That’s the official place anyway. You could also try used on reverb or eBay etc.

      Thank you kindly glad you liked it. I’ll see if I can upload them somewhere and link in the description. Or possibly do another video breaking them down.

    Hi Beebs, nice video and beautiful playing! I'm interested why you use Dropbox for you files and not iCloud or your internal drive...I'm constantly struggling with my HD being full, so maybe your way of doing may help with this issue? Any thoughts? Cheers buddy!

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  Місяць тому

      Thanks Pat! Hope all's well with you. I'm using it predominantly here in order to share presets/backing tracks/tabs etc. Oh I tried to move to iCloud for my file system about 5 years ago and had a DISASTER! Long story short nearly lost everything and it took weeks and weeks to manually recover. So yea, stuck in dropbox still. But yes I also take advantage of the "online only" mode when low on disc space.

      @PatDeJongeSoundwise Місяць тому +1

      Hi David, thanks, I'm good, hope you are too? And disk space issues seem to follow me as well...I also had a nightmare experience with iCloud and it eats up my internal drive (just for the synch option alone) , that's why I'm interested at Dropbox. Looks like Dropbox doesn't canabalise the internal drive, is that correct? Cheers!

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, thanks :) Dropbox def has it's own set of problems but it is at least safe to have files in there, and yes you have more control of what sits on your local drive vs stays just in cloud. It's also kinda expensive, but probably no more so than iCloud.

    • @PatDeJongeSoundwise
      @PatDeJongeSoundwise Місяць тому +1

      yes, it is expensive, that I've noticed...

      Thanks! Most of the time I'm using a tortex jazz iii xl between 1 to 1.5mm for normal playing, funnily enough though for jazz playing I use the proplec d'andrea 1.5mm. Thanks for watching.

    Do you have any hold functions mapped to the preset selection switches on your FC-6? If so, that will cause the preset change to occur on the upstroke of the foot switch button. If there is no hold function then it will actuate on the down stroke of the button press.

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  Місяць тому

      Ohhhhhhh I did not know that! Hmm I think I might. Will check, could that be where im still experiencing a slight teeny tiny gap then? Its changing as I release the button?

    • @208414
      @208414 Місяць тому +1

      @@DavidBeebee Yes. This is covered in the FC user manual on page 14 under the heading "The Rules of Switch Timing".

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  Місяць тому +1

      @@208414 actually double checked the holds are standard +/- banks and home in the middle. The top 3 don't have any holds and the little tiny gap seems the same across them all regardless. And like I say in the video the gap can be increased by switching rapidly.
