By watching your videos I am quickly learning how much I DON'T know yet!
Have about 300 succulents, moved them into my garage in October for the winter. Live in North Texas. I use grow lights square purchased from Amazon. They hang about 14 inches from succulents. Have a mix of species, love them all. Would not have been able to set up without Casey's great information. My daughter set up tent frame and three tables. My succulents gave me a goal after near death surgery.
Wow what an amazing collection! Glad they have been such a joy for you 🙂
I haven’t been using grow lights, I’m just using natural light. Now I know why some of my plants are so tall and gangly. Great information and love that you actually show what works!
Growlights absolutely help my succulents!
Grow lights are a total mystery to me - !this helped! Didn’t realize some succulents don’t like grow lights!
I think I will add a grow light!
I didn’t realize hawthorias aren’t a fan of direct sunlight so that’s something I will fix right now. So it’s good to know going forward. I plan to set up a grow light/shelving area for the succulents during the winter later this year. It would be great to see different ideas of innovative plant stands with grow lights for indoors.
I'm going to provide a little bit of shade for my Hawortrias out in my Succulent Garden, however they seem to be happy where they are. I have a Large "Starfish" Aloe vera" then some smaller Aloes and then my the Group of "Hawortrias". Two are blooming right now. But if you recommend a little bit of shade for them I can plant something like a"Rosemary" to give it a little bit of shade come July/August - Las Vegas Nevada.
Thank You for the advice/information.
Sincerely Yours 🤠 Mr Severance,

I have some under a grow light and some in the south window, but some are doing fine in the corner too
Lol. My office/succulent base camp is starting to look like yours!
Haha very nice! Sounds like a good collection 🙂
I was repotting haworthias today, in preparation to move them outside. Thanks for saving me from that mistake
Living in an apartment, there's just no space for anything but a very few indoor plants so I'm very blessed that I have a sufficiently wide balcony otherwise I would never be able to have more succulents. Also luckily there's no frost nor snow!!!
Lucky u! Lol I have to move over 300 indoors when winter comes...Cali seems nice lol.
@@bobbiechinn9578 I don't live in US & when typhoon season comes, big rush to move all outdoor pots indoors no matter how crammed it already is otherwise gale force winds would blow them over, away, perhaps smash the full length glass doors. So not that lucky!!! Today's count 119 pots outdoors :)) a lot less than u!
Hi! What grow lights do you use?? I am moving to an apartment with North facing windows and I am looking for strip type lights for a shelf. Help please?
@@victoriachildress9684 Sorry can't help as I normally keep all outdoors with just a few indoors so no grow lights used. However, many FB succulent groups have such tips.
I use grow lights in the winter. I do keep some succulents indoors, at my S facing window in spring and summer. Some I throw outside lol
I thought that Ghosties were kind of like trailing succulents. I have a pot and they have started to cascade down the sides.
They can definitely start to trail! :)
It was great to see your succulent collection again!
Thank you!
I don’t use grow lights but this is really good to know as a succulent grower!
Really interesting to see what happened to the string of dolphins! Also now I know why my haworthia turned dark, I thought I killed it!
So that’s one of the dolphins I had issues were! Thanks Cassidy!
Living in Kansas has problems with heat, cold, and high humidity in the summer. This last winter was my first experiment with growing outdoor hardy succulents and nonhardy ones under grow lights. We had an unusual cold snap of temps below zero and I thought my outdoor plants would be dead for sure, but I'm pleased to say about half of them made it! It is so hard to find the right shade for them in the summer; it's either full shade or sun. I think the full sun hurt them more than full shade. My indoor plants did fine. My panda plant is even blooming! It has a green pitcher shaped flower about the same size as a leaf. My panda plants don't have the darker toes either, but other than that they seem to be happy.
That is very exciting that your panda plant is blooming!
i wanna thank you for doing this video
We hope it helps!
Interesting! I grow my succulents outdoors but this is amazing to know! Above all I was really fascinated by your beautiful indoor collection! 😍
Thank you for the detailed information on grow lights. I may have to invest in a couple.
Just starting my succulent collection so don't have any
that are stretching yet. Hopefully now that I have watched this video I can be proactive instead of reacting. All advice is welcomed.
I'm an indoor grower and this video makes me more confident that I'm utilizing my grow lights correctly. Thanks!
You are welcome and glad to hear it!
Now I have the ability to use grow lights to keep my babies happy. Thanks for the info!
So far I have only used natural light outdoors, I will have to keep an eye on them and see how they all do.
I have all my succulents inside with grow lights. Now that we are moving into summer, I’m going to move outside on the patio.cant wait to see if there is a difference.
Ditto!
Great to get advice which isn't the most expensive option available!

Thanks for the information! When my seedlings for the garden are ready to go outside, my succulents are moving in!
Grow lights are on my wish list. I need to rewatch your grow light video. I will need to purchase lights and shelving as time and someone to help build isn't an option
Learning lots!!
thank you for shedding some light with regards to growlight use. i was wondering this past few week why my succulent is stretching out. and you answer it on point. thank you again.
Glad it answered your question!
I haven’t started using grow lights yet. Great info!
This is nice to know. I really need to get some grow lights, just not in the position to right now. This will be a video I'll have to look back on🙂
Really enjoy your tips. My friend and I call our rehab area the hospital tray
I use blocks to raise lower plants so they are all equidistant from the light source.
I don't grow indoors but this is interesting nonetheless. So much to learn!
I know I probably shouldn't think this but I love the idea of a string of sting rays! I know it means the plant isn't as healthy as it should be but I just think if we could grow them as "sting rays" and have them be healthy that that would be so cool!
That would be very interesting!
Lots of great information! Thank you!
I have to use grow lights in the winter since I live in zone 6. Lots of helpful information!
Thank you so much for this info! I knew about haworthia's, but the String of Dolphins was new to me, WOW! Now I know why my plant is struggling a bit. And LED lights work YAY! I can bring a few plants to my work! THANK YOU!
Perfect info! I just purchased 3 grow lights so I can place a few plants in my office.
Awesome!
Good information
Interesting!! I'll have to evaluate my indoor succulents
I know now to increase the time I have my grow lights on. And move some plants around. Thanks!
Thanks so much for the information.
Just bought a grow light! Thanks for the information here!
You are very welcome!
I want some of your pots…so cute!
You can find many of them on our amazon page 🙂Under succulent planters

Again you are addressing my problems with the grow lights. Your video answered many questions. Thank you
I am new to grow lights. More helpful info.
So informative! I think I'll be moving some of my succulents indoors, under the living room lamp that's on a timer. 👍
Thanks for providing such a specific and documented explanation of the impact of artificial lighting. This beats anything else I've seen on the subject!
You are very welcome! Glad it was helpful
The growlights were super helpful for me during winter And have been super helpful during the cloudy days for that extra light
I just got some grow lights and am learning trial by error. Thank you for the tips!
Great information .
Thanks! Glad it was helpful
ive been looking into getting some grow lights for my succulents. So this video came just in time!
So helpful, thank you!
i love seeing how the colors are better with the grow lights!
I have some succulents I have been growing inside for years. They get tall especially in the winter months. I cut them off once or twice a year and create new succulent planters for my friends and get a new shape going. I thought the lengthiness was just do to their nature. Very interesting video. More please.
Very informative video. I just got my first grow light and am experimenting with it on my indoor succulents. I hope it goes well, and that they are survive and grow over the winter months.
Thank you!!!
Thank you very informative. I have to bring nearly half of my succulents in for the winter, I only have two good windows so grow lights might be in order. But the video was also helpful in knowing where to place different plants nearer or farther to the window and what colors to look for.
So glad it was helpful for you 🙂
Thank you for this video. I have a grow light and was trying to decide if I could put succulents under it.
I’m glad I watched this as I have one that is starting to stretch and now I know what to do 😊
Thanks!
I’ve had my succulents under grow lights for the winter. They are hanging in there, but nobody likes winter! Can’t wait until it warms up enough to get them back outside.
Beautiful display of 'struggeling' succulents in your office!💕 Did you diy the rustic and gorgeous concrete pots? If so, can you show how to make them in a video?
I have made some concrete pots, but some were also purchased from Amazon here:

I'll add a DIY concrete pots video to my list though :) That would be fun!
I am watching this to see what lights to buy for my succulents. Did you mention that?
I have recommendations here:

Any LED light can work though! More details here:

I have growlights since Christmas and my succulents are slowly transforming, I am so happy! I have a similar setup to yours, about 20cm from the top, 12h a day- only on a windowsill so I have a little of fiddling to do now that the real sun is showing up...
I love your succulent garden! 😍
Thank you!!
This helped me a lot, I have grow lights but didn't realize I wasn't using them correctly!
I USED TO HAVE A LOT OF PLANTS UNDER GROW LIGHTS BUT MY SUCCULENTS THAT I AM JUST GETTING INTO ARE JUST IN SOUTH FACING WINDOWS...THEY ARE DOING FAIRLY GOOD FOR JUST LEAVES WITH LITTLE SPROUTS. THANKS FOR ALL THE INFORMATION..
I have put several small hens and chick from the same plant in separate pots in various locations. It was very interesting to see how they reacted to different light exposure. Some got very leggy.some got longer leaves while others got beautiful tint of red colour and stayed compact.
There is so much to learn. I want to say that I am a newbie, but I bought my first plants last spring. Had them on my sunny deck all summer. I didn't know how to care for them when I brought them inside. You are very helpful.
Great information..I love growing succulents both inside and out.
Thanks again for the info. about the grow lights .
I’m using barinna T5 grow lights for my succulents right now and I think they like it! Like you, I also changed the timer on my grow lights from 12 hours to 14 hours.
Thanks for sharing about grow lights. Also interesting "full sun" may mean something different to the succulents.
I have my succulents under full spectrum grow lights on the brightest setting for 12 hours a day and they're stretching so badly. Except the crassula. The echeveria, kalanchoe, and others are all so stretched out, but the crassula are fine. I haven't known what to do for them. I'm glad you pointed out that the distance may make a difference.
I honestly thought all succs liked sun! It's interesting to learn some like lower light. I have a small Gasteria that's fairly new to me. Good to know care tips!
I need a system like this! It's so cool and inspiring! I just need more space in my little condo. Anyways it's good to see the differences in how much sunlight different succulents need
I'm now going to rearrange my propagating tray to under a grow light and share this with my sister who has several plants in need of better lighting. Thanks so much for your helpful tips.
I’m loving learning about grow lights. Thanks so much for all the info
Just bought my first grow light, so this was very helpful!
Loving your videos, you really give me hope! My echeveria black prince just died, i'm sure it was lack of sunlight... i only have a couole hours of direct sun light. I want to have them inside, with grow lights when I try again. I have a crassula campfire and it looks awful too...
Oh no sorry to hear about your black prince. Hopefully the info helps going forward. Yes using a grow light will definitely help with lack of sunlight 🙂
@@Succulentsandsunshine thanks ❤ sure! I'm doing the best i can, searching for information so next time it will be better. I have one grow light but it is that pink one, succulents dont like it much. I learned it from you
Aaaand now I’m running to Amazon to add a grow light to my cart 😆
They really are so helpful to make sure your succulents get enough light 😊
Ive been seriously debating getting some grow lights! This totally confirmed it, thank you!
Please make detail care video for howarthia attenuata
We actually have a video that covers hawarthia attenuata here. It needs the same care as Haworthiopsis fasciata
ua-cam.com/video/1RB8ESZ0vRE/v-deo.html
i have a south-facing window and they get a lot of sun in the morning/noon but not in the afternoon. Good info to tuck away in case my succs start stretching!
I see that I need to increase the length of time under the grow lights from 10 to 12 hours! Thanks for those useful and helpful tips!
Hmmm. Not sure about doing the grow light we are moving to a new place. I need to figure grow light set up.
Try a spider farmer led grow light. They are top notch and it really helps keep plants short and not stretching
Thank you. Maybe I should try growing some inside it could be fun. Especially for propagation purposes. I’m lucky living in zone9b/10a, but I always struggle especially with leaf propagation.
I am sort of a newbie, and this was very helpful I have growlight bulbs, and have moved my plants in response to how they are doing. Thank you.

@@Succulentsandsunshine Thank you!!!
This was great and very informative. Do you think you can make a video showing portable grow lights (ie: ones with a clamp) for those who do not have the long lights under shelves. it would be helpful to see how you recommend setting those up. Also can you confirm that an LED in a regular lamp instead of a grow bulb can work as well. Thank you
This video will help:

Thanks again for the helpful info. Living in the Pacific Northwest I did have to set up a small grow light for my big planter and it has worked well.
I have been using grow lights for a while now and wondered why some of my plants were stretching. Thanks for the info! I will figure out a way to make them all happy!

What a collection! 🥰🥰
New goals for me. 😝
The bigger ge grow bulbs are what I used and my succulents and cactus's stay compact.
Yay! I was curious about your dolphins. They are nice and full!
Great topic and content. Would like to see more videos of this nature given all the different types of grow lights on the market, all the various types of succulents, and all the various conditions they thrive under grow lights. I see lots and lots of videos geared toward reviewing the technical features and performance of grow lights, and w.r.t. a single dominant plant market (cannabis), but not a lot of video content going into details with raising succulents under grow lights.
Glad to hear the videos have been helpful. Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you again for your information, so much knowledge, I haven’t started using grow lights yet but plan to after summer when I move my succulents back indoors.
