Not only was Willie a great player, but he was a truly lovely man who loved his family and always said that Derby was his home. God bless you, Willie. Thank you for all those fabulous memories that you gave to all Derby supporters back in the late 60's and early 70's. God bless your lovely family at this sad and heartbreaking time for them all.

I remember the derby between Sheffield Wednesday and United in the 60's. As a young lad I spent the match going up and down the kop as the huge crowd surged backwards and forward. I never saw the Wednesday goal but my lasting memory is in 86th minute when Willie Carlin scored the equalizer, the crowd surged forward and I stood there watching the Leppings Lane end erupt. Sad to lose such a great player. He's always stuck in my memory from being a kid.
