I have a lot of experience with M-Lok and Picatinny. If you shoot, a lot, get the picatinny. M-Lok gets REALLY hot. I went to a shooting course where I had a 11.5 in barrel in M-Lok and most had the DD MK18 with picatinny 10.3 inch barrels. I had to use gloves when they were still shooting with bare hands. It's easy to attach stuff to picatinny as well. I just think it's a better options if you're going to use it more.
Yeah. Weight is not that big of a factor for most. You are not about to strap on a 50lb ruck and hike 20 miles tomorrow. Even if a shtf event happens, you would be lucky to get 10 miles with a light 5k dollar DD rifle.
Thanks for watching, Alan! We agree 👍M-Lok handguards are super lightweight and have so much room for mounting accessories. Plus many companies make a ton of M-Lok accessories, so it's easy to find what you're looking for
I’ve heard it adds some significant durability to your AR. The weight of it allegedly reduces the muzzle climb especially for rapid fire. There’s some good reasoning behind the legacy of stuff like the SOPMOD II. One of the most cherished variants of the M4 carbine.
There is a lot of people who will READ that quad rail is so uncomfortable, but as an owner of both a BCM quad rail and M-Lok STNGR the quad rail is not that bad. Quads are great for small firearms and M-Lok are great for longer firearms
Also if you run a can and run your support hand over the gas block the quad rails add better heat protection. If you run an MLOK with a can get covers over the area near your gas block. Don't roast your support hand. For my 11.5" battle bangers I run quads. As a caviat I have large hands.
Haven't decided yet. I want to know about licensing, are any restrictive? Idc about weight, in fact I may need it to comply with stupid rules so am drawn to quad rail, but I don't want this to be a repeat of Betamax vs VCR and find myself limited in accessories..... guess I'll keep researching
If the pictanny rail is "sooooooooooooo bad", then why doesn't the manufacturer stop making them or throw them away or melt them down into something else?
Pic rails are standard for military rifles. It’s modular, it’s simple, it’s cheap. It isn’t the best but it’s used by like everyone. Mlok is more comfortable but you need adapters and other shit if you don’t shop around. Keymod is the same way. People want quick, easy, cheap, reliable.
You've clearly never touched a rifle barrel after it's been fired a few times. Joking aside, I get your point. The M16 hand guard was at least designed for the hand... kinda.

Honestly I like the M-lok handguards much better it is smoother , less weight and more mounting options .

Quad makes sense for NV rifles. MLOK makes sense for most other uses so long as it has an uninterrupted top M1913 rail.
Quad rail all the way.
Quad rails give you so much room to put extra equipment on
Allows for side mounting lasers but still having room for WL or IR.

I don't really vibe with you but I like your review so thank you for your work 😊
At3 quad rail is the best option for weight reduction and very durable

Lately it seems like mlok stuff is getting worse to mount, like they don’t send you long enough screws
Would have been nice if you'd placed each guard on a scale. I think that would have driven the point home more clearly.

Some guys still like them. 12-15" MLok rails are nice also. AR setup variety is the cool factor.

@@jayboogie7956 yep. I’d say go full pic rails or mlock. Ignore keymode unless $$ doesn’t matter then do whatever.
Always wonder, why no top rail using m lok ?
Should be lighter the picatinny ?
Great video
Thanks for watching, Nicholas!
But that M lock still has the piccinty rail on top😂
But are they really hand guards?

Hand guards guard the hand. Those metal attachment points conduct heat like son of a bitch.@@robertkelleher1850
He’s forgetting about heat
Quad squad all the way i like m lok to though
Quad rail is the secondary weapon when you run out of ammo just saying 😂❤
Mlok Superior
if this guy works, why in a gamer chair.
They're comfortable
And you can get slim lite keymod as well. And the test was crap other test show it holds up just as well.
