Girrl i feel your pain removing the babies! Somehow every female jumping spider I get ends up laying eggs and they are such a pain🤣 I started hot gluing fake leaves around the tops of their enclosures and they started making their nests on the leaves. It makes it so much easier to remove bc you can grab the whole leaf without destroying the nest as bad 💕🥰

Aw!! Sweet chai! Congrats on the successful sack pull!! I just pulled my Texas jumper, Eos's sack two weeks ago. So jelly of your yeild, I only ended up with about 6 slings in total.
I wanted to mention something I did to relieve the stress of pulling the sack since it can be so stressful for them. I rolled up a paper towel and tape it to the corner she had her nest in. She took up residence in there and I was able to get her to eat for the first time since laying the sack.
Just thought I would share! Awesome video! Thanks for all you do!

If you do what i do there's little issue with seperating and is no hassle. I simply make a hole in the deli lid and cover it with paper towel and use tape to secure it. Then i just carefully remove it when ready to seperate them and I let them emerge on their own.
Sometimes they may come out 5 at a time. Dont have to harvest the whole thing at once, just put put the tape/towel back on. I tend to allow a bit of cannibalization as more survive in the end that way.
Its better this way anyway it weeds out runts that probably wont survive anyway

Couldnt have found this at a better time. One of my girls just had babies and i had no idea she was even going to lay eggs. Shes been in her nest for like 3 weeks and i was beginning to think she was dead. Was ready to clean the enclosure and check but then i started seeing babies and i scrambled to put the enclosure back together(her nest in an easy to take off spot) what the hell, one of my males must have escaped because i never put them together.

Thank you so very much for this video. I am dealing with the exact same situation in the exact same enclosure. My issue is that she laid the egg in the back corner, half on the glass and half on the top screen. I am not looking forward to removing them. Might you remember the timeline of this whole experience? I noticed little black dots today and they're moving a little. I am wondering how long after you noticed them, did you move them (approx?) I saw the video and saw what they looked like, just wondering about how long. Then how long after they were moved in to the community home, did you feed them? then how long before you separated them? I know mine wont follow the exact same timeline, I was just looking for a ball park. Thank you again very much, I'm off to watch the rest of your videos.

Yes like I mentioned in the video a few times, they are about to leave the nest and the enclosure has too many ways out for tiny babies like them. In hindsight I should have moved mom to a more secure enclosure before she laid her sac down. Since these are not native to my area, I don’t want anyone getting out and competing with the local species.

@@jaschabull2365 yes correct. Tarantulas are beautiful creatures that arent that small. But the babies are so small you dont know where they are... I think it also comes from the fact that most poisonous species of animals dont know how to control their venom as babies so the bite I fear would hurt more and produce more complications. I know alot of spiders fangs are too small to bite humans but the smaller species I'm more frightened of. Not enough to harm though. I dont believe in hurting animals just because I'm afraid of them.

So I found 2 adult jumping spiders (separately housed) and almost immediately they both built nests and laid egg sacks!! Then they both started getting their original nests fortified again and they both laid another egg sack each! OMG now the first sack from each momma have emerged…I was expecting 30-50 slings but one clutch alone had over 130 slings. I have no idea how many actually emerged because I lost count. So far my guess is 300 between the 2!! And they both have another egg sack to hatch. The 2nd egg sack is now turning black so they were fertilized as well. Is this normal for them to have multiple egg sacks with soooo many babies???

Important professional news, Tarantula Kat. If you haven't done so already, you need to create an archive channel as well as back up your videos. A very popular UA-camr in a different genre whose name I can't drop without drawing attention has actually put a name to the algorithm issues with UA-cam's community channel feature. Basically hold onto your butt and be ready to re-upload when UA-cam does their clean-up. I don't think they'll reset the stats of the view counters, subs, and notification bells, but there's a chance they might, or we might be preparing for even worse. I don't want to alarm people as much as I want to set expectations and make sure my personal favorite content creators are ready for whatever is about to happen so that you guys don't suffer for it.

The best way I found to deal with relocation is to put packaging tape along the corners of the enclosures so that when they make the egg sac it is usually going to be on the tape and you could just peel the tape off, cut off the excess tape and stick them right into their new enclosure.

  • @kitsune0rei
    @kitsune0rei 3 роки тому

I was kind of lucky, my mother spider vigilantly cared for the nest, but left it when they hatched. So I didn't have to get her to move to take it out. I got her as an adult, so I didn't know this would be her only egg clutch with me (I'm guessing she laid before I got her? She'd obviously been mated since they were fertile. Or maybe I was just really unlucky with her lifespan.)
I'd say if they're in the nest, leave them in there as much as possible, even if the nest is messed up on removal. They come out when they're ready. Sometimes they can scare you sitting still, but it's ok. They have egg yolk to sustain them for a while. Mine took forever to come out but they were just fine. It was like bam one day they had a meeting and decided to go for it. You don't have to feed them till they actually come out.
While there can be cannibalism, they're not as bad as say, mantises (I never personally saw cannibalism with mine). I think it's actually beneficial to keep them together for the first couple molts, they kind of make communal nests- some spiders are more into making nests than others. I actually had good success with separating them into like 5-10 into a deli cup before eventually giving them individual cups. That way you can kind of do it gradually and it's less work feeding them in groups.
I use small brushes to manipulate them, so you're doing good with that.
I think doing the best you can and having good luck, you'll probably have like 75% survival.
You can probably expect more eggs sacs from her. I've heard they can lay as many as like 5-7. They only ever need to have one successful mating to keep laying.
I like to give my spiders a more fatty treat after molts and after egg laying- like a waxworm.

I tried to get a tarantula online but my country banned the commerce and breeding of spiders unless proper documentation. I was just trying to get a new friend since my cute grey jumping spider passed from age around a year ago. I might as well try to capture another salticidae, there are plenty here. It's legal to keep it as pet... Go figure...
    I miss Petrova :(

I have been trying to get babies out for several days, one by one when I see them exploring I grab them. Why did it not dawn on me I could just bust open the nest and grab the last few?? I’ll have to think about that tomorrow morning.

I'm no way a spider expert in fact I'm absolutely petrified of them. Just want to ask a question about why you didn't take the sack away from mum before they hatched?

Mine just made a nest and laid it eggs, I didn't know they were orange like an aquatic animal, but I have no idea how I'm going to move them or even take care of 100 spiders, how long does it take for them to hatch and does mom eat during any of this?

I've heard that when their abdominal is "shrively", they are likely dehydrated as well. Not sure if that helps.
