Lol so yeah...when my jumping spiders babies emerged from the sack, I quickly discovered there were escape holes in their mothers enclosure 😅 The enclosure was beside my bed, my gf woke me up in the morning just like "ummm...babe, there are spiders..." as she points at the enclosure and they are literally all over.. outside the enclosure, all over my desk, hahaha it was chaos... At this moment when I didn't freak out, but instead laughed.... I realized I had become one of those weird bug people..
I'm honestly not sure if my time collecting the spiders was any more difficult than yours looked hahaha. But I'm sure many of mine escaped into the wild/my old house 😆
@@alexisz5570 I've woke up to seeing my enclosures not clicked to the locked position so many times I'm so surprised I haven't woke up with a huge tarantula on my face lol
Jumping spiders intrigue me the most. I am still a tiny bit scared of spiders but if I were to own one I would most likely own a jumper because they seem really cool!
Very cool. When we lived in Japan we often had jumping spiders in our house. I taught my family to celebrate them. We always allowed them to roam free and reduce the number of pests in the house. Cute little things!
And jumping spider is better than long daddy leg ones. Because they dont do webbing. But that means they can't catch many insects especially mosquitoes that usually fly around in the ceilings
Oh my goodness, they are so cute and teeny! I can't imagine the stress of trying to rehouse them without injuries or escapees. It reminded me of daycare, except on a miniature level.
That mesh was a cool idea. I use coffee filters, because they let some air through, but the spiders can't pass through them. Tarantula slings will chew a hole it them, but jumping spiders, isopods, and mantises never figure out that they can do that.
Don’t you let anyone say anything about your enclosure building skills! You’re the best spider momma. Well okay, everything momma. Watching these little ones grow has been such a joy. You keep up the amazing work Kat 🖤
These videos have been a god send to me. My babies just left the nest yesterday and I’ve been trying to get them all out. I didn’t know when I got my jumping spider it would lay a egg sack lol. I’ve just watched the first video. I think I might remove mum first to get the rest of the nest. I feel so guilty because mum has been great. She’s guarding the nest still now 😁
Yay chai babies! I ordered my first JS today! I have a huge love of all things Jamaican so I’ve been waiting for a Rastafari so he’s coming next week! 😍 all because of chai being so cute. X
same thing happened to me. at the point where babies were getting close to cannibalizing , trying to separate them all was a nightmare! "did i get them all?", was what i was thinking
I'm very excited to watch this, but I'm a little concerned that mesh might be to pokey or catch the little jumpers. Just check in on them freq, or leave an overnight cam to make sure.
I think maybe if you prekill some fruit flies, the babies would probably eat. They are so young and fragile at this stage they probably aren’t hunting, instead they are probably more scavengers right now
Got my first jumingspiders when they were this small :D One of them (which I gifted to my boyfriend) didn't make it. But my "Springi" (I'm german, in german they are called "Springspinnen" so I named her "Springi") is now adult size and is living her best life :)
They're so teeny 🥹 I love them. I love it in the summer when I open my sheds and hundreds of babies are ready to fly out into the open. I also have a lot of nursery spiders in my garden so I love watching the process of the babies getting bigger 🥰
Aww they are so tiny the jumping spider slings. I got most of my jumpers of a lady who breeds them. One was a surprise cause it was hidden in with a mantis of all things. I caught it, and put it in a small tub with a net. It since enjoys fruit flies. The bigger 3 I have are now on green bottle flies. I'm also up to 11 tarantulas, but got them all as slings, and are doing well. I use a massive white tub ( not see through) so it makes it easier to see spiderlings. Catching all those baby jumpers would of taken ages, but worth while. Cool video Kat & helper Fiona 😸👍
Just "rehoused' my tiny js slings into a bigger enclosure this morning. Woke up to a few escapees .Had pretty much the same experience. Lol except a few of mine were spazing out like crazy trying to jump away. Some were trying to balloon away in the slight breeze created by my ceiling fan.lol i think a few were successful.haha.
way more patience than i would have had. i think after the first couple of runners i would have just turned the big container you were using to keep them from running, into their enclosure, popped the lid off of the little tupperware container inside the big container and admitted defeat.
I had surprise jumping babies yesterday. My house had two jumping spiders that I wanted to give a safe place for the winter. I was SURE they were both boys (for some reason) until I noticed a bunch of little babies all over one of their homes. I put them in a container and I’m thinking about what to do. They are adorable though.
Yay! I’m so excited for this!! I am absolutely afraid of spiders...., however, I love jumping spiders 🥰. So I’m so excited to see them get into another enclosure. I love my garden and jumping spiders eat the caterpillars that eat my flowers so I’ve grown a fondness to them 🥰
I'm on 0.07 into your video im getting my tissues because I know Im going to be cracking up watching you try and handle 80 baby jumping spiders 🕷 😜 🤣🤣🤣
I am so glad you have baby jumpers! I acquired a wild tan jumping spider in October (Oklahoma area) and needless to say she was gravid! Recently she laid an egg sac and the babies have emerged. I like seeing you do all the rehousings first before it comes time to do my own because it helps guide me.
I found an Ootheca outside and brought it inside to hatch I was gone for like 30 mins and when I got back there were mantises EVERYWHERE. I ended up leaving the windows open and most of them got out.
My daughter shrieked and I came running and it was literally the smallest jumping spider ever. Looks like Chai. I now have a baby jumping spider. Wants nothing to do with flightless fruit flies so i had to go hunting for green plant hoppers. It is finally eating. Yay!
I enjoyed watching your jumping spider videos, usually it is about tarantulas. You should make some more of these, want to know how the spiderlings are doing.
May I suggest to put the vivarium in a plastic bucket with the sides covered with fluon so it become to slippery for the baby spiders to climb out , you can buy the fluon in online shops of the ant keeping hobby
This is the only size tarantula I could keep without navigation panic attacks lol. Great video as always and a big hello from the UK, I hope you and the family are staying safe.
Wow, never thought I'd live to see a video about baby-proofing a spider tank. Makes me wish I'd thought to do that with my fish tank when my snail had babies. The poor li'l things got sucked up into my tank filter ;-;
Last month I caught a grey wall jumping spider on the wall of my stairs.. I had a terrarium tank and substrate, so figured wth.. a week later, I got the right substrate and she seemed to be happier/more active.. from what I read, I was certain she was a female, but never thought breeding or brooding would be a concern for me.. just woke up this morning to find a new egg sack encased in a web cocoon with her standing guard just inside the first layer of web. So adorable and precious.. but I'm afraid by thanksgiving, I'm going to have too much to be thankful for and gunna be in over my head..
They are so tiny and adorable and all over the place. Jumping spiders are amazing, I just wish they lived longer. Sadly, my boy Ezio died today. He was an old guy and I noticed him having trouble catching his prey lately and his chelicerae looked less shiny and colorful. I will miss him a lot.
You should have just let them loose in your house. That's what we do with ours. They really help with all the flys & nasty bad bugs around the house. We have black widow & the bigger ones we have go after hem which is great when having kids. It's funny & cool when we will be sitting in a corner reading or on the tablet or even sitting in the window & they will follow us around or come down & look at us like "hi what's you doing?" or "what's you reading?" 😂😂😍😍 My husband loves the wolf spiders & he has found a two as big as Tarantulas that he has let loose in the bathroom. He didn't know at the time that wolf spiders could get that big. Didn't even know you had a little girl she looks adorable 😍
That was the most adorable and entertainingly chaotic video ever!! So cute, so funny!!! 😍😂 Great job! After all the talk about how hard jumper babies are to raise, you've done a remarkably great job raising this first batch. Hopefully Chai will double clutch and you'll get to go through all this joy and chaos again! 🤞😘
Kat, I think you are seriously so cool. your whole vibe and aesthetic just freaking rocks. if I saw you out and about, i would totally approach you-- pre covid obviously lol 💚💚
I really really want a jumping spiders now!!! My granddaughter has drawn u a pic @tarantulakat she's obsessed with u and the jumping spiders so I promised her I would post it to u as she's only 5 x

Sounds like she handled it better than my grandmother did when my mum's hamster gave birth.
last time I rehoused a group of baby praying mantis, I thought I got them all and then later found 2 hiding out on my sweater 😂😂

I gotta keep that in mind for my future isopod colony (haven't had the chance to set one up yet), because that's a good hack.
Yayyy I love the Jumping baby vids they are the cutest!
Girl it’s my fave type of videos
Why does this remind me of Exotic's Lair's sling rehouse lol
Send one to Petko please 💙 He needs new a jumping spider 🕷 🙏 R.I.P kiwi 💔
Yessss
But Petko would put a sponge in her water dish D:

I guess you missed all the drama between Kat and Petko around Petko putting a sponge in his spider's water dish.

That was a great job you did with the jumping spiders, I'd say a nice sigh of relief was in order when you finished that job. Nice one Kat.
I would be so done trying to rehouse them. It gets me mad even when I look at you struggling to do so.
Yes, I think most of this reminds me why I haven't kept a pet since I was 17.
