Talib Kweli did an amazing job on getting a true in depth view on the scope of Jim Jones and his career … Talib is great at this podcast thing and he has true respect for hip hop it’s too evident
Yeah Talib Amazing way to interview Jimmy, the patience, not taking anything personally, he guided and interviewed Jimmy the right way, got everything in a way where Jim understood and answered everything correctly, love you Talib 🙏🏽
Really insightful comment. Jim can be a bit ornery at times but Talib gave him grace and didn't let it shake him and kept the interview going with a calm demeanor
Real talk, i was never a big time jim fan, but damn did this change my entire opinion of the man! Going to give his catalog some love now! Thank you Talib!
New York is so big that the neighborhood of Harlem is bigger than most cities in America. I'm from a city of 36 thousand, which fits inside of Harlem several times, crazy!!
im only 10minutes in to the interview and this feels different. The energy that jim exudes is this interview is amazing. Maybe its the setting that has sharpened his tools but the flow of this conversation is beautiful
the thing people loo over with the Versuz is that the Lox are a rap group and have been for 20+ years but they are a group who then started doing solos but Dip Set is a crew, and solo artists who did albums together as "compilations". They were not a group. They are basically 2 solo artists with Jim Jones who started rapping later. SO the Lox was supposed to get the better of them on performances
All credit to Talib for takiing control of the interview. Not sure WHY the people's party bothered haviing this individual on here to begin with, but don't waste time on this individual again. How do you get offended when someone is giving you nothing but praises? crazy.
Jim always speaks highly of his team post controversy, perceived strife of conflict. I like hearing his perspective considering how PR likes to ramp up small drama as though conflict is uncommon. 🤨
Missing the time-stamps, but a great interview nonetheless.... Note to Jim: Love you brother, but you don't need beef to be relevant. Get on your grind.
He not hating he never liked him it’s a difference… Shit deeper than what you know, he definitely has a reason to ever like Mase again ever… If it wasn’t for Cam linking back up he would still be finished, and with that being said it’s nothing to hate on 🤦🏽♂️
it’s always been that intriguing to watch intellectuals navigate through hip hop. there’s a nefarious street culture that coexists with a brilliant thinkers. in no way am i calling street cats dumb. within the arts they make each other better artists.
Jim so underrated niggas hate him because of his arrogance but he brought a lot to the game fashion wise , made the whole hood slim down their clothes , directed all of Dipset videos etc
So Cam and Mase opened the door Jimmy. All that other stuff didnt need to said after saying that. Of course you has to hustle and get to it to get to where your at but they still gave you an alley a chance to get on.
This whole interview is weird. This needed to happen 20 years ago. It literally looks like a conversation too late. I'm glad it happened, but this was pretty disappointing.
@UPROXXVideo Bridging the gap that was caused by the east/west media beef, also spilled into genres within the music. Being able to reconcile the differences in sound, is the same as accepting others choices. Jim should have given Kweli the respect of removing his glasses, and Kweli should have removed his hat. Like, let's really talk about 87 to now.
@@bighouse7931 I agree with your statement. As I look at Jim, I can't see myself ever buying a Book on his Life or a Documentary on his life because I feel like I've heard the same stories over and over again about his childhood growing up etc. I'm not mad at it but I would love to see more growth within Jim and for some reason I just don't see that much. Perfect example is how Camron is moving accordingly to wearing suits from time to time and becoming more into the business space. I would like to see more and more of the OG's of the game grow out of the phase they were in back then and get tap into being more in tuned with who they are transitioning into, let's face it you can't be a gangsta forever. I can't see Jim at the age of 50 still being gangsta.

I remember in an interview where Jim Jones says he took the phrase Ballin from Juelz Santana🤔 but Pac was definitely saying Ballin since the 90s
PAC started that ballin shit before Jones and them
Cats on the east coast was saying Balling in the mid 80’s- that shit didnt start in the 90’s 🤦🏾♂️
@@reefb4364 PAC is from Harlem / Bronx so of course that's east coast slang
