talib whut´s good this your friend felipe for me it´s either kool g rap and dj polo's wanted dead or alive(if not mistaken) and cormega's album megaphilosophy
The tracks he ended up finishing for Paul Cee after his demise for Rakim's "Let The Rhythm Hit Em" album was dope as well as his own beats he supplied on the album. Ra and Large Pro need to do a whole album together.
Large Pro has always been my favorite producer. This guy just oozes New York. His beats have followed me growing up in the Hip Hop scene starting the early 90's. Pure class and an extremely likeable guy.
Just saw Large Pro on the Geto Boys podcast last week and it was DOPE! Love to see Extra P. getting the love he so rightfully deserves in the culture! A Living Legend In The Game!!! 💪🏾
Hip Hop's Underrated. Underrated as a producer and as an artist. I'm glad Talib had him on the podcast. He's definitely one of the best that never gets discussed. I'm glad you gave him his flowers Talib. Very well respected
I swear it takes me hours to get through these interviews with all the necessary pauses. Currently pausing to discover Cormega’s Mega Philosophy from 2014. This shit bangs. I appreciate the jewels as always!
Large Professor is down to earth, humble and shows love to everyone. Legendary producer to say the least. Salute to A.L. for being part of the interview.
I’ve been waiting for this man to grace Kweli’s People’s Party since it became a podcast. He is easily the most underrated and under appreciated icon in hip hop culture. It doesn’t get more New York than the LP.
This Man is HIPHOP personified. Endless contributions to the culture. Breakin Atoms is one of my absolute fav albums. Masterpiece. Mad props to the legendary Large Professor for all of his musical blessings.🙏🏼🔥💾🔥🎤🔥🔊 Peace.
We need at least 2 hours to really delve into the career catalog of Large Professor and understand his significance to hip-hop. While I appreciate you Kweli and the brothas giving him love and reciting his lyrics (and the lovefest is well warranted......trust me, I get it), I felt like those moments disrupted the flow of the interview. I say this, respectfully, as a fan of the podcast. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed the interview! I just wished I was able to learn more about his catalog.
It's crazy because I went to John Bowne H.S (Flushing, Queens). ...freshman year...I go home one day, turn on Video Music Box and see the video "Watch Roger Do His Thing"! I take a closer look....and I'm like....yo deez dudes are in my school, Talkin Bout "Main Source"! LOL. That was a dope time in Hip Hop...dudes were making videos and still in high school, going to class and in the lunchroom everyday like normal. RESPECT!!!
Ayo... I can't express how much this interview and others... like this one mean... but I'll try. First, the way that I feel, being a child of hip hop who came up living and embracing representing the culture in everything that I did in life... this interview has me in my feels 🎉. To see brothers of Extra P's caliber - hip hop royalty almost seems cliche - get his flowers 💐 is truly beautiful - AND important!!! And... Talib's interviews represent US telling OUR stories!!! US... you get it!?!? Because, as time progresses... hip hop - like other aspects of our experience - has struggled with being white-washed... sanitized... altered. But, through efforts like this... 'nuff said 🎉.
FFS Someone at The Source didn't know Jazzy Jeff was a DJ? He was ONE OF THE BEST. EVER. HE INVENTED SCRATCHES! He STILL rocks a crowd. FFS what does a legend have to do to continue to get respect?
He even "TALKS" in Hip-Hop voice, great interview, especially when he was explaining how different ethic groups all became part of hip hop early on when he first came around.
Streets of New York is one of the best storytelling songs ever . Blind man plays Sax / tune called the arm's of my moms show railroad tracks . G Rap for East Coast gangsta hip hop is like Ice T for the West Coast .
Yo what's good Kweli! Thank you for your contributions to this culture and lifestyle we call Hip Hop and thank you for showcasing a legend and one of my top 10 producers Extra P. This mans music has kept me goin through out my life and thanks to him and Main Source, I'm still a happy man at 52. Shout out to excellence, word up. Peace & Blessings
Plus... one last thing that I want hip hop headz of EVERY generation to realize... Take your favorite emcees - whoever they may be. Just know that they were inspired by someone. That are standing on someone's shoulders who inspired them. So there REALLY is no viable debate on who is the best because it ALL is from the "pool of black genius" that Donny Hathaway so eloquently ... expressed. That is NOT a slight against all of the others who were right there when hip hop was bubbling because Extra P is saying... it was all love... all family. But, to be clear - there is a THROUGHLINE - that connects all of US... all of our culture... all of our music... all of our existence. And it is a beautiful thing to behold ❤. Thank you to everyone involved with this platform Talib. It matters and I love it. I watch it with my children - then start teaching them by watching UA-cam videos of the music being discussed 😊.
Large Pro is the coolest dude in Hip-Hop, and is up there with Primo as my favorite producers. Interview would have been much better if y'all would have let my man finish his sentences without any interruptions.
Shout out to Xtra P, Queens Royalty. his verse on the Organized Konfusion Stress Remix hit me hard. Especially when I was riding the 7 on my way to Bowne. "Now ain't nothing deeper than having to throw a nigga in the sleeper For stress, and take that shit from Large Profess Cause I be on the train trying to maintain Getting lowered in the hole while the record man gain And it make me want to sting somebody with the shottie Cause I can't relate to living less than great So while I make a fat beat to eat Some of my mans from John Bowne High School is sleeping in the street"
Large Pro let's go! What's your favorite Large Professor project?
talib whut´s good this your friend felipe for me it´s either kool g rap and dj polo's wanted dead or alive(if not mistaken) and cormega's album megaphilosophy
Illmatic sparked it for me. All his collabs with Nas. Raw production
breaking atoms, 1st class
The tracks he ended up finishing for Paul Cee after his demise for Rakim's "Let The Rhythm Hit Em" album was dope as well as his own beats he supplied on the album.
Ra and Large Pro need to do a whole album together.
Can't pick just one since we from the same building in tha lanz lol #Waselanz
Hip hop wouldn't be the same without this man. Respect.
M.C. Lyte said the same @rotweilerscholar1181

Hip Hop's Underrated. Underrated as a producer and as an artist. I'm glad Talib had him on the podcast. He's definitely one of the best that never gets discussed. I'm glad you gave him his flowers Talib. Very well respected
One of my favorite interviews so far. Just real hip hop being talked about and shared freely. Like the barbershop 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Happy to see this interview. He doesn't get the shine that he deserves. Very comprehensive. Drink Champs interview went off the rails per usual.
They just kept interrupting each other!
Peace to Large Pro for being not just a legend in hip hop and for acknowledging the Latino contribution to the culture.
Excellent interview skills from Talib
Some people are OGs in the game and some people ARE the game.
Large Pro ain’t an OG in Hip Hop… He IS Hip Hop.
We need a Nas & Large Pro complete album
we need pics of your sister
I agree
Got to add Qtip to that bro!
We still need that Dr. Dre and Primo album with Nas called Nasdaq. It's been promised about as long as Detox has been.
Nas never give the fans what we want it’s just what he feels like putting out.
So glad fhey bought up GMV. HE needs to be honored. He created the blend.
Large Pro uuuuweee, one of my most respected headz👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥

all of this was love and was needed. Respect fully the Large Professor. Talk about those early un-credited classics!!!

Nope, it was annoying and Tk need to check that. I wanted to hear LP tell his story and TK kept interrupting him.
Large Pro was in charge of a major part of the soundtrack to my high school days
This is a great way to start the day
It's crazy because I went to John Bowne H.S (Flushing, Queens). ...freshman year...I go home one day, turn on Video Music Box and see the video "Watch Roger Do His Thing"! I take a closer look....and I'm like....yo deez dudes are in my school, Talkin Bout "Main Source"! LOL.
