Marvel's ECHO is coming out and The Salty Nerds talk about the troubled production and the rumors about how the show is so bad, Kevin Feige didn't even want to release it!

Disney released Echo as a "binge and purge" model.
Sounds about right.
For me it's just a lot of purging.... I only binge stuff I like...
2:15 in the comics, Maya Lopez, aka Echo, was half Latin American half Native American, only of the Cheyenne Nation, not the Chokatow tribe that the MCU changed it to.
She also was deaf aa well, but not an amputee.
Her fathers name was Crazy Horse, and he indeed worked for Kingpin and when he died in Mayas arms his bloody hand did imprint on her face like the Hawkeye episode showed who indeed was killed by the Kingpin.
The whole ancestral mystical powers nonsense wasnt in the comics though. That was made up for the show because the writer/director 'thought Maya's comic book powers were dumb'. 😂
Whats odd to me is how similarly the backstory of her ancestors seemed to What If season 2 original Native American character Kahhori, only sans Space Stone (since MCU Odin never hid the Space Stone in America).
Similar underground tribe, similar glowing blue water that gave them powers, similar girl boss tribal leader that led them to fight against colonizers etc

So Marvel went out of fheir way to locate an amputee desf native American woman with zero acting resume and then infused all this new ancestral folklore stuff that had nothing to do with her comic book origins. Because muh cultural preachy feminist girl boss historical stuffs i guess

Echo *IS* actually deaf in the comics, as well as Native American (in some runs, she's from the Blackfeet tribe, in others, i think she's Cheyenne), but definitely not an amputee.
There was even a version of her in one run that had a sort-of cool power to "see sound" (like Synethesia), which would've been infinitely more interesting than her "ancestral gurlboss"-power in the show.
This show is utterly baffling. Echo is a fucking villain, and there's no redemption arc for her or anything. They should've limited her appearance to JUST showing up in 1 or 2 of the 18 episodes of Daredevil, and she should have just been written like she was back when David Mack created her. Way better character than Disney's "Echo".
Also, I hate to say it, but Alaqua Cox should not have been allowed to be in SUCH bad shape for principal photography. Like, I know she had a kid, but she looks legitimately chubbers in so much of the show, and it makes so much of it even *more* unbelievable to watch.
The "Daredevil fight" is the perfect example. It's such a damn joke.
They probably saw the actress and thought they could check off a load of boxes with one project.
I do find it fascinating though that instead of hiring an actress to make a superhero series, they used a super hero to make a series about an actor... That's how ass backwards wokeism is.

I watched it at 2x speed, and jumped ahead constantly... but it was still boring crap!

The only positive, was the way they shot the fight scenes. Usually it's a shit ton of jump cuts, but not here, didn't actually help the fight scenes themselves lol, but I appreciate the way it was shot

I watched the first episode and literally thought it was a joke... I couldn't believe it was a Marvel TV show, I was literally like, "Am I missing something? I haven't rewatched marvel movies since I cut the cable and no longer have TV on in the background. I HAVE watched along with two specific reactors through Endgame. I did watch along as 1 of them watched Wandvision. Wandvision was done as a TV series and done well... Until the last episode. Scarlet Witch was no hero at the end, she should have left as a villain.
Marvel movies aren't worth watching right now. Neither are the TV shows.
Star Wars and Marvel needs to be sold off.

guys. you should do a little bit a research. Echo is deaf in the comic books. I agree the show was terrible, but you guys really come off as assholes. Her power is similar to Taskmaster. She can imitate any fighting move.

This is really stupid, when you’re review is on something you didn’t even watch. The show is actually good and goes deep into Choctaw culture blends in the show. They showed what is like to be deaf showing Maya’s POV from fighting to just everyday life.

I get that this is for the views and such, but sad to see people who I know are smarter than this to sit around and trash talk a show that they have not seen in classic echo chamber style. I have watched the first 2 episodes so far and find it very interesting... yes the main character is a native American deaf amputee but that does not make her 'bad' any more than it makes her good.... it is just some superficial aspects of the character. Sure Marvel's releases have been very inconstant as of late, but dang, at least watch the show before you declare it a 'cringeworthy woke disaster'
The show wasn't available to be watched when we made the video, so we were discussing all the news around it leading up to the premiere. Frankly, we have no interest in watching this show, because Marvel has a track record of putting out crappy TV shows for years, now. And frankly, judging from the reviews, we were right - it is a cringey woke disaster. (And Marvel seems to know it.)

@@SaltyNerdPodcast so based on your answer, and from what you say in the show it is clear that your opinions are based on 3 factors: 1, whatever the rumor mill has to say about the show... 2, whatever reviewers say about the show... and 3, which studio produced the show... ok.. .good to know that your content does not bring anything new to the table. again I am not defending all of Marvel's recent works, but simply echoing whatever negative stories you can find then making wise cracks about the main characters race/disabilities/sexual orientation etc. is frankly beneath the talent pool you have at your studio. I understand that the path for success on UA-cam is clickbait and follow the hate train, but it just feels wrong.
