jesus christ this song is amazing. I'm consistently blown away by the incredible collection of talent behind all of the homestuck music over the years.
EVERYONE SHUT UP AND LISTEN, I can't believe no one has realized this. But when Lord English battled Davepeta, within each of their souls was Equius and Nepeta. Within each of them were moirails, the two most functional moirails in the entire fucking series in fact. In Collide, we witnessed the two characters least likely to ever even consider harming the other one TRY TO FUCKING KILL EACH OTHER. Of all the things that could have broken me from this series, this was it. The realization that somewhere within both of those characters was someone horrified at what they were attempting to do to their best friend, their best companion.
I'd never thought of it that way! I think that maybe Caliborn's consciousness completely crushed Equius's, though, so hopefully he's just dead rather than trapped in LE forever.
But, unfortunately, Equius's soul was not crushed, we can see him argue whithin Scratch, we can see hin rough tendencies when LE stops the young Handmaid. He's suppressed, but not dead.
I haven’t read Homestuck to its entirety, literally just started. However, this is literally the best song from the thing in my opinion. It’s dramatic, it’s elegant, it basically screams ‘This is where it ends. I am gonna kick your ASS.'
Homestuck is just the Neverending Story with a perspective flip. This is why LE's time loop is not fully closed (it's another story for another time). Whereas TNES tells the story from the point of view of the reader, Homestuck is told from the author's point of view. Thus Bastian's role gets taken up by Hussie (this is made explicit in the author-insert sections), the roles of the Childlike Empress and the Nothing are swapped (driven home with 1. A gender flip and 2. Caliborn not caring about the story while Calliope does, the opposite of the situation in TNES). Caliborn, as LE, keeps the story going by being its main antagonist, and Calliope ultimately beats her brother and ends the story by turning the Green Sun into a black hole that consumes all of reality. Likewise, while Bastian befriending the Empress and giving her a name brings him *into* the story (his godhood is given to him), Lord English kills Hussie, giving himself control of the narrative (he takes his godhood by force).
@@vanadium723 "Literary analysis" might be overselling it a bit, no? It's a few sentences. It took me like 5 minutes to write and was mostly thoughts I already had. You want to see some real "too much free time" analysis, go read bladekindeyewear's blog. :P
I really like this interpretation, and I think it's almost certainly accurate to Hussie's original intent. The only hole I would poke in it concerns Calliope's black hole, which (dubiously) canonically contains the Candy sub-universe, as revealed explicitly in Candy 38 and implicitly by the presence of Meat Vriska and Meat Meenah in Candy after they were consumed by the event horizon in Meat. None of this materially changes the analysis of the original Homestuck, though; and symbolically, I think Calliope's eversion of the universe into another one still works as a parallel regardless.

The reason why Caliborn makes for a good villain is simple: he's based on the real one. Satan is identified as a cherub in the Bible and his most common described form is that of a serpent-like dragon (see also places where "Leviathan" is mentioned in the Bible). Also, the name "Caliborn" comes from "Caliburn" which is another term for Excalibur, the flaming sword of legend. Cali-burn, implies Cal being "burned" and therefore being slayed by the burning sword. (Dave's sword?) In the end, Satan's army is slain by Christ's sword and then Satan himself is thrown into the lake of fire 1,000 years later. So he's defeated by a sword and fire. Caliburn. Caliborn. You think this is all just a webcomic, but in reality, the real enemy of our world is an evil cherub who's fate is to be undone by a sword and fire. Tru†h is stranger than fiction.
See how he separates "man" from the rest of the word in "mangaka" and such, also he's a "patron dudebro". He's also inherently evil, that's a neckbeard away from being a men's rights activist.
Except that the term meninist originates from a parody that you can look up youtube to this day, of some young men very obviously doing a sarcastic protest and not being at all serious, MRAs don't call themselves that. But if you're talking about actual Men's Rights Activists there are plenty who are just concerned men who are worried about certain statistics that remain unaddressed by the secular feminist movements that have a monopoly on humanitarian government subsidies. The result is that a lot of them are very angry and lash out, and if your position on MRAs being "inherently evil" is driven from a feminist view point, then I'm gonna have to call that hypocrisy, as plenty of self-proclaimed feminists lash out angrily and irrationally at their perceived injustices also, with youtube once again as my witness (Humongous what?). And you can't say the injustices aren't real, suicide rates are higher for men, young boys have difficulty studying and being motivated in modern school environments according to studies and nothing is really being done about it, men are almost exclusively beholden to the majority of military jobs and also civilian jobs with the highest casualty rates (Boatfishing, Oil Rigging, Security, Construction, etc..) with no signs of changing trends, and feminism is only concerned about diversity in the most prestigious intellectual/political/artistic fields and are more than happy to let less favorable but perfectly rewarding careers that are necessary to society be monopolized by a particular group. Because of the bad reputation with feminism some of their criticisms have gotten them, MRAs regardless of merit or character have basically no give in local government even when they really should have it. A good example of this is the owner of what was the only Men's Right's Shelter in Canada, which stood as the only gender alternative to the over a hundred of women's battered shelters that specifically refuse to shelter male victims or even male children of mothers as well. When it couldn't get funding due to the term "Men's Rights" having a bad rap, he couldn't get any funding for one single men's domestic abuse shelter even though domestic abuse rates are close to a 60/40% rate by biological sex... 40% of a hundred isn't 0. He killed himself shortly after it became clear he would never get funding for his life's work and passion.

Thanos is Absolute Fucking Walnut and Useless Paperclip compared to Lord English
Thanos would be closer to Bec Noir
Squirrel Girl can take down all of these people.
I don't even read Homestuck anymore, but this song is still one of the best.
OMG I JUST NOTICED THIS WAS FOR THE TWO CHERUBS THAT DOMINATED. HOW HAS THIS NEVER POPPED UP IN MY MIND BEFORE!?!
The 2nd half of this song appears in Collide and whenever the Penumbra Phantasm leitmotif i can't stop thinking of serenity flying over the kids as they struggle and get up it makes me cry and shiver
I remember the flash leaving me shook.
Can't believe I almost forgot how epic and foreboding this song was.
I enjoy Cherubs. When I listen to this song, I imagine my session and by the second part, I am going god tier to the same music John went god tier to. Im probably homestuck trash. oh well. ;u;
Everyone here is Homestuck trash
You can't fight the Homestuck,
lol I thought up the land of mindlessness and weave with Yaldabaoth as the denizen. How ‘bout you?
this is so incredible WOW. i mean i always thought this sounded like a movie soundtrack but this one is *amazing*
The simplified Do You Remem8er Me motif goes so fucking hard in this
What if this song represented control of the universe. Caliborn's part comes in first as he destroys everything but Calliope's or John and Jade's anthem come in later to “Overpower" Caliborn
You called it
6:54 is the most intense, lord english-infused section of the whole song
Man... I enjoy this series when I was in middle school (some classmate found me reading it and calling me gay for a while😅 ah.. Memories) it's been like 6 year since I was hearing anything homestuck related, now in college, 'homestuck' for 2 year by pandemic got me thinking of looking at this series again.. It's been awhile
i like how the whole album flips back and forth between calliope and caliborn songs then ends on this
I love the subtle leitmotif of sburban jungle in there
excuse me, i asked for my eternity served hot. why is it so raw.
Is it weird that when at the end of this song I began bracing myself to hear heir of grief?
If you watched the apRil 6 update, then no.
I had the same effect
I went to the beach yesterday, it's an hour and a half drive, and i was listening to this all the way there and back i love it so much :p
GAHH!! Why am I here?! I've only just started act six...
...yet I'm _here_
I think we can say that....
*YOU'RE ALREADY HERE* , huh?
Would our new Alt!Calliope's version be this, or..."Infinity Served Cold"? While the current Calliope's would likely be "Infinity Served Warm".

Urr. How about Served Warmly. It sounds comforting
No, Infinity Taken Hot
what if the second half of this plays on the 4/6 update..........
+majestic waluigi That would be amazing.
Ward of Awk FUCKING CALLED IT
+majestic waluigi LAWL
WE ALL CALLED IT.
YESSS IT HAPPENED I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW
YUSSSS
The beginning of the second half sounds very similar to Jade's ascension in Cascade... Sounds like it would be used for one of the cherub's ascensions
It was used for Caliborn's, in a way.
Jacob Putman hah
It's a remix of Savior of the Waking World, just like Savior of the Dreaming Dead from Cascade.
jfc i regret scrolling down. I'm still in act 6 act 5 and shit all I see are S Collide comments
This song is AMAZING!! (And Caliborn, too).
now every time I listen to this I see Davepeta vs English Undertale style in my mind
i see davepeta dodging english's punches like a boss
Igneous Crystal Davepetas stupid
gasp
The idea of DavvePeta is stupid Davve sprite wwas doin a good job on bein character but since hussie had to combine 1 stupid character and 1 cool character together it made somethin that I call an Abomination
lol
Make the video full-screen, then type in "awesome"
As you will see,
*I AM ALREADY HERE.*
Not a Homestuck fan. Don’t know the comic. But the music goes fucking HARD.
join us. you'll have no idea what is happening 90% of the time but at least we have fun
@@mama_m00n I appreciate it, but the reputation precedes you… I’ll admire from afar :)
Yiur life must be incredible @@madeleinebraham7500
say what you will about caliborn but he is literally always my fav somehow
He's my favorite character right under Spades Slick (Yes, I know my profile pic is Calliope and not Caliborn)
+The Fangirling Puella Magi calliope is also a precious cinnamon roll!! i love her :>
+Lapis Lazuli (Queen of Homestuck trash) is it cause those familiars are just girls who follow The Doctor and praise him, like how Caliborn made the female characters follow Dave in his series?
+Dat Weird 69er truly a masterpiece
I love Caliborn as character, but not really as a person..??? What I mean is, I don't like the things he's done, but I just love his character? He's evil, but still awesome. Dunno.
I normally don't feel a lot when I listen to music, but this, and only this, is the only song that's ever given me actual chills.
And Turn To Dust by Darius + Rotteen
We might actually be the same person.
1st Part: Whoa.
2nd Part: HOLY SHIT HUSSIE USE THE SECOND FUKCING PART IN A FLASH ALREAAAAAAAAAADY (wait he did already)
EDIT: HE ACTUALLY DID, FULL VERSION THIS TIME. +9000 KUDOS TO HUSS.
+Dat Weird 69er Which one? I don't remember the second half being in an [S] D:
The second half's beginning was actually the last 5 seconds of Caliborn: Enter
+Dat Weird 69er The first 5 seconds of the second half of the song is not enough. If we get another super long and epic flash for the big battle that's about to come, I hope he puts the second half of this somewhere in it. I can just imagine it now...
+Dat Weird 69er UPDATE:
2ND PART IS USED IN [S] COLLIDE AKA A6A6A6. GG WP
Dat Weird 69er I know, that was so awesome. When I heard it start I literally couldn't stop shaking.
Anyone else get a rather Tim Burton-esque Nightmare Before Christmas feel from the song as well?
Sean Lambourne GO BACK TO YOUR CAVE UNDERTALE SCU- Sorry, the pappyroose triggered me.
Jamie Whatcott
lel, pappyroose
yup, this one's going in the halloween playlist
I'm headbobing to this very intensely.
I listen to this song every time I leave a relationship or job. I take inspiration from Caliborn throwing off his chains and discarding his useless other half.
Wow you’re just as edgy as all the guys who identify with the joker
Thanks for the tunes, chaotic silent chicken man
When i was a teen i used to record myself singing parts of this song a capella...what i would give to be able to do a complete version 😫
I keep seeing that snake behind Caliborn as hair instead of a snake. Imo it would look good if it was though!
ooo now i gotta draw fanart of that!
I thought it was a scarf
starting at 4:01
damnnn that got sooo good-
I hope homestuck 2s main villain will be like this
When I hear the first 3 notes of this song I'm filled with eternal rage!,
This makes eating a meatball sub feel like I'm fighting fucking zeus
Oh, Caliborn. You adorable little shit.
I love you. ..... I do not agree with this opinion, but I respect it enough not to argue it.
I suppose he can be likable, in the way that a sociopathic brat can be. He's likable when he's not doing anything.
Valon Abditus he's likable either wway
i suppose he IS a lord. what's a lord without followers? that's his whole thing. and since time always has a side aspect of chaos, i suppose he get's people to like him through his chaotic nature.
Wow, suddenly it all makes way more sense.
He does have a in canon cult
This is the most epic shit I've ever heard
This is some high quality Power Metal right here
I like this part of the song alot 3:12 (+ the part used in [S] Collide)
Homestuck's greatest masterpiece tbh
1 MILLION VIEWS!!!!
I wonder how many people just KNEW the second half would be used for this update.
(Myself included)
I dont know, but I had the feeling too
Wow! You really guessed?
most badass time-traveler, villain or not, lord english/caliborn doesn't take shit from anyone. unless your john i guess.
When your zodiac sign is Ophiuchus.

(Dave's sword?)
In the end, Satan's army is slain by Christ's sword and then Satan himself is thrown into the lake of fire 1,000 years later. So he's defeated by a sword and fire. Caliburn. Caliborn.
You think this is all just a webcomic, but in reality, the real enemy of our world is an evil cherub who's fate is to be undone by a sword and fire.
Tru†h is stranger than fiction.
local meninist ruins everything
jade harley
Yeah Pretty much
Like literally everything
He is, he's so much meninist that he believe the only thing that should exist is YAOI
You mean masculist
I mean, I'm glad you uploaded the song, but don't kid yourself: this is _far_ from Fair Use.
2:40-2:59 and 3:52-4:24
9th circle of Dante's hell be like
>fair use
>transformative
>no negative effect on the market for the original work

TOP KEK
Sounds like a song for some exposition of a story about a Demon Lord against the army of light kind of music
Nice
Oh, I bet this is for [S] Muse: Rise or something like that.
More like [S] Caliborn: Enter.
It, It was used for [S] Caliborn: Enter.
Ah, my bad, then.
Well, the first half of the song was. Not the latter half.
let's hope we get a [s] Calliope: Enter to the second half
"Meat Goodbye" my favorite title
I hear just too many references to Rose's themes in this song for it to be a coincidence. What's with that?
There's only two
Two many
Probably because her alpha version wrote the book that foreshadowed this whole event. So in a way, this is basically the musical version of rose going "I fucking knew it".
@@skilllessguy7219 Well, she is a seer
this is good background music for caliborn's session with leprechauns/elves/frog men/puppet people/toad goblins
