Ironically, while Bec prototyping himself ended up with Bro's death and Jack's power being extremely potent, he gave him his one weakness: Love. Love was what caused him to carry the now-dead Jade, one of the kids he wanted to kill from the start, and carry her to her quest bed to be revived in god-tier. Love was what caused Jade to come back to life and lead to everyone escaping to the post-scratch world. Love was what caused Jack to, ironically, save each of the kids he set out to kill. Good dog. Actually it was just the kids session to the Universe B Scratch. Sgrub took place over a period about about 200 hours (I think Vriska mentioned it once).
Mr. Miniike Oh... Yeah.. Now that I remember, the kids' reckoning actually happened a lot earlier than it was supposed to as well. That would explain why it only took one day, but still; they completed quite a lot for a short time.
I have just watched [S] Cascade for the first time, and wow. I thought Homestuck would be a silly webcomic about kids playing games in their bedroom. I was wrong. Shit.
Well, even though i assume you mean Bec Noir, i feel like he does have something that qualifies somewhere, though i dont recall where i got that from. Though due to your lack of specification, i could say jack has died, as robo jack and LE jack are both dead.
The psiioniics fastest speed was thousands of light years in a matter of hours right?. Well the green sun is the size of two universes and in the space between the green sun and where the meteor was there was space for about 10 green suns which means sollux propelled them about 20 universes in a few minutes outdoing his ancestor by a factor of over 100 trillion
I love how Jade immediately knew how to use her powers, she's like.. instantly powerful at the start of her rising to god tier. I think there's only one or two characters that can match up to her in power.
That's because Jadesprite merged with her somehow when she ascended to God Tier, and sprites have encyclopedic game knowledge. She got the knowledge of a sprite, the power of a first guardian, and the perks of becoming God Tier, all at once.

It gets easier to quit once shit hits the fan. And I'm not talking about the pre act 5 gag, I'm speaking about the input from the larger input affecting the story and gags negatively. Luckily music is banger until the end.
I think how hard it is to piece everything together is a lot of the charm. In a book or movie, the sheer incomprehensibility of it all, the fact that you need to go back and reread/rewatch a whole bunch of things would be just plain bad storytelling. But in a webcomic, especially one that originally had days between updates, the process of working out what's happening and piecing it together is half the fun. I really wish I'd read it when it first happened and been able to go through that process in the fandom rather than just on my own.
God things were simpler back then. And we were all so naïve. I kinda wish we’d actually been hit by meteors rather than let the last 13 years play out the way they did.
Can we just talk about how darkly hilarious it is that Hussie brought the "edible uranium" gag and made it plot-relevant? I don't care if the rest of Homestuck is 100x more clever. This is just too cool.
One of the things I love about this flash is the way in which it sums up the perfect interplay of the relationship between the music and storyline. Homestuck is one of the first works to really take advantage of the medium which is the internet and combine so many different forms of storytelling (text, images, sound, video, interactive panels and minigames), and similarly the music here is one of the first I've come across that so elegantly combines highly divergent styles of music and the instruments involved while still giving each group their own highlights and prominent passages. Seriously, I've worked out that if, as I honestly think there should one day based on the quality of the music alone, there was ever to be a Homestuck Prom, the Royal Albert Hall would require a full concert orchestra, two pianists (and possibly two pianos), two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, a high quality soprano and a full choir just to do this song! And they're all interwoven and spread out throughout the piece!
You would also have to take into account that there is old-style electric pieces in this collective, so let's not exclude the techno aspect. Other than that, I fully agree. And who else would agree that this would be mind-blowingly amazing to listen to?
At this point, he was technically Armaments Regent, the last we saw of Aimless Renegade was a while ago, and the last we saw of Authority Regulator was even longer ago.
I'm not like a fandom, tumblr, big weeb, furry, or nerdy kind of person, but honestly Homestuck was a masterpiece, it's actually very well written and 10k+ pages that take months to read don't feel long at all, they feel like an experience, a really good one. How the story introduces characters makes you have them feelies, even with the antagonists. Masterpiece

ten years of the slideshow that broke the internet. Happy cascade day, lads, and fuck cascade for giving me unreasonably high standards for climactic scenes in literally anything.
I remember last week, I was tasked with reading Homestuck so I could catch up with my friends. I laughed, I cried, and it was just plain awesome. They were all telling me about cascade, and how it was so awesome and how it would change everything, and one of my friends told me to film my reaction. I was on page 4000-something, so I was a ways away. But I kept reading, and yesterday, I arrived on page 6008. I saw the command [s] Cascade, and I swear my heart rate tripled. This changed Homestuck forever...
John Egbert i'm a preeetty fast reader. XD Also, the fact that i was tasked by my friends to get there asap got me motivated enough to read extremely fast. that, and the fact that i skimmed pretty much everything.
+John Egbert I read from around the middle of the comic to terezi remember in maybe 8 hours. There were tears, laughs, and me wishing there was a nearby stump.
I can read pretty quickly but it kinda sucks because I couldn't stop reading homestuck that day so I ended up reading the rest of the comic and I think me saying I need a stump shows exactly how I feel
I have always heard about homestuck, back in 2011-2014. You couldn't go anywhere on the internet without hearing or seeing something about it. It was chaotic. I never read it because i was under the mentality that popular + crazy fandom meant the WHOLE THING was bad. Until about 2 weeks ago. I started reading this thing. And despite all the homestuck's controversies, the most incredible thing is that the base material is genuinely enjoyable and worth reading. Its insane how fun it is to read this. Andre Hussie is like the Hideo Kojima of fucking comic writers. it's insane how good this is. I love it. Im only about half-way through (4.8k/8.1k), and i am still so pumped to read more everytime I'm so sad that I am late to the party, i wish i read it sooner. Also, THIS FUCKING CUTSCENE. THIS. CUTSCENE. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. SO GOOOOOD. Hats off to Hussie, he made a CLASSIC.
I came back to just relive the good times. Seems like an age ago. The story now is so much less compelling than just the stupid shit people got into. I miss the stories about the kids being gods and still acting like kids. Leveling up is leveling down, when you get down to it.
I think that god tier jade looked pretty bad for the first 20 seconds or so. I mean, the pose she had was pretty weird considering she just died. Why would she be holding up a green ball to dave and striking a pose?
Well mine is more extreme. John is in coma from an accident which is why the story is becoming less coherent as it continues. Rose, Dave and jade are all real but they are ordinary kids as John is obviously because he never met them in person
Fuck, I know everyone talks about Jack expanding the borders with Red Miles, but that visual effect of the scrolling ornate wallpaper in the background showing up as Flare kicks in at 4:40 is just magnificent
The whole border effect thing in that part is amazing - shifting to a picture of Derse, to the colors of the sacrificial slab, to the colors of the tumor, to the colors of the universes, how blue slowly starts to fill up the screen when it zooms in on Universe A, and the background effects for the standoff on the roof. It's just perfection.
You know what I’ve always found incredible? That moment when PM comes hunting down Jack, and passes through the station with the ring on, and Jack just turns around. You can see in Jack’s eyes when he spots her, he’s _terrified._ PM, now overflowing with rage because her friends just died, now has nearly limitless power, and she will never ever stop until she hunts him down. He may be the Archagent of Derse, but even he couldn’t plan for this.
1:45 when the guitars do the fade in, this chord progression makes me cry idk why that part in particular makes me feel that way, maybe because it's the first time you see the exiles and knowing how something that long ago that was put on hold can possibly fit back into the story is incredible. unbelievable
+JetBox Yes. Very much yes. Especially the music! I love Flare, and it's kind of disappointing that the cut version doesn't have those amazing piano runs :/

I just love the confrontation between Snowman and Spades Slick the music and the animation. Hussie did not have to go that hard for these characters but he did
I don't know why, but this makes me sob every time I watch it. It's truly beautiful. I know it's weird to get attached to fictional characters but...they've come so far :,) Homestuck started when the kids were 13. And now, in 2014, they're going to be turning 18. How crazy is that? I love Homestuck, it is so inspirational and It's just one of those life changing things that some people don't understand.
It’s wild having UA-cam auto play me into this, 11 years later, and rewatching it out of context, realizing how wholly inscrutable this is to anyone outside the fandom, yet how incredibly contextualized each of these little vignettes were. There’s SO MUCH going on, but by this point we all understood every bit perfectly, even if you had to rewatch it 2-3 times because it’s ‘blink and you’ll miss it’. It’s baffling how well the flash animations could climax the writing of converging storylines together like this into one explosive conclusion or turn of events, and then you’d pop out the other side back into static webcomics, and it had this feeling of ‘what the fuck happens now?’ in a way that felt like it mirrored how the characters would be feeling incredibly well. It was downright jarring.
I remember when I first saw this. I was so captivated by the music and animation, it was GODLIKE. I told myself I was just going to listen to the music but I just finished watching the whole thing again and there are suddenly tears in my eyes. Wow, even after watching this like... 8 years ago? It is PHENOMONAL. I will never get over how good Homestuck was and is.
You know, I might have next to no interest in Homestuck itself nowadays, but I can't not come back to the flashes every now and then. They're the inspiration and investment point for many.
I never finished Homestuck, I fell off somewhere in the gigapauses and the Kickstarter troubles but coming back to this, you really do have to admit there was something incredible in the comic that means I can come back a decade later and remember who almost everyone is and why they were doing exactly what they're doing here.
@@wowwhatacleverandoriginaln9416 oh yeah i remember the start of the Kickstarter, yeah thats about time time I stopped, with the green billiard guys right? I cant remember much from that time tbh
You know scratch never says that the tumor will destroy the green sun, he says it could but never outright says it will, to keep with his no lying rule.
Reading homestuck for the first time in 2022 makes me wish I was there to experience it when it was being written, though waiting for new pages would probably kill me. It's fun to look at the youtube comments of important scenes like this and get an idea of what it was like to see this when it was new.
as someone who was there reading live from the middle of Act 5-2 clear through to the end, everything up until Cascade was honestly hype as fuck. i have never anticipated any piece of media harder than i did Cascade and probably never will. the scale of the reaction to it was unlike just about anything i've ever seen, nor has anything so thoroughly lived up to the hype it built. i truly weep for you that you weren't at least able to experience it before Flash died. reading it while it was written at any point after Act 6 started was an exercise in suffering for multiple reasons, many of which make little sense if you're just looking at the comic and not at all of the supplemental fandom stuff going on at the time. very few of us made it to the end without dropping interest in the comic entirely.
Absolutely agree! I started reading Homestuck at 2012 and wasn’t actually a part of a fandom. But when the Cascade came out, the amount of hype and loudness (of the young age Internet surfers) was higher than everything I can personally think about even now in 2022😅
I've just spent the past week binging Homestuck from the beginning, I never got into it when it was originally out. It had me welling up as a grown-ass middle-aged dude, I can't even imagine what this would have been like to watch as an impressionable Tumblr teen when that journey had taken 3 years not 7 days.
It's definitely one hell of a ride. That's why I got so into it back then. No media has got me this invested, not even Genshin Impact which is the fandom I am currently in right now. Homestuck, Hetalia and One Piece was my big 3 back then, in my Tumblr days. (Also sports animes like Yuri on Ice and Haikyuu, but not as much as the big 3)
12:17 I remember my first time seeing the scene of Rose and Dave getting their godtiers, I literally cried.. I was so young at that time, about 13 years old. Ten years later I’m still amazed and can rewatch this part forever. I LOVE the soundtrack

I have just watched [S] Cascade for the first time, and wow.
I thought Homestuck would be a silly webcomic about kids playing games in their bedroom.
I was wrong. Shit.
So wrong. Also, every human and troll has died at least ONCE.
SPOILER ALERTnot dream Roxy
Both are still Roxy. Though Dirk has never officially "died" to anything, as it was technically suicide. Only PM has officially "never died."
+pikminman13 jack never died either
Well, even though i assume you mean Bec Noir, i feel like he does have something that qualifies somewhere, though i dont recall where i got that from. Though due to your lack of specification, i could say jack has died, as robo jack and LE jack are both dead.
Okay but the beauty of the characters escaping the old session by literally going through the fourth wall is incredible
Good Genius. Best Math
+Kaito Kumori lol thanks.
+thatoneperson I thought the green sun was 2 times the MASS of the universe ?
The wiki says its twice as massive as earth's universes so its probably size. Might be mass tho!
MASSive implies mass. If it was two universes, they'd all be dead from UV ray exposure and radiation poisoning.
@@blahthebiste7924 and then Hussie had to completely nerf her for the rest of the comic lol
@@Kiwi-rx7jg Jade and Jack Noir both end up in the same situation where their unintentional powerups end up doing nothing but fucking over their teams by presenting them with a massively overpowered enemy.

"I'm done reading Homestuck! It's too hard to comprehend!"
*Proceeds to read another 600 pages and gets addicted again.*
This feels like something from a world that doesn't exist anymore
i mean… technically… you’re right :^)
Well, it did end in 2009, only not within our reality.
The messages still apply fully, as this was say, "back in canon😂"

And that was the last anyone ever saw of Aimless renegade

They were all telling me about cascade, and how it was so awesome and how it would change everything, and one of my friends told me to film my reaction. I was on page 4000-something, so I was a ways away. But I kept reading, and yesterday, I arrived on page 6008. I saw the command [s] Cascade, and I swear my heart rate tripled. This changed Homestuck forever...

You caught up in a week? It took me 2 days to read 1000 pages. How TF is that possible?
John Egbert i'm a preeetty fast reader. XD
Also, the fact that i was tasked by my friends to get there asap got me motivated enough to read extremely fast. that, and the fact that i skimmed pretty much everything.
I love it.

My headcanon is that Homestuck is just john's fever dream after eating too much cake.

This flash still gives me chills...
This is why no one fucks with the mayor.

there is truly no feeling comparable to that of watching [s] cascade for the very first time and its still just as awesome when rewatching it
Watching it rn what the fuck is going on
It’s wild having UA-cam auto play me into this, 11 years later, and rewatching it out of context, realizing how wholly inscrutable this is to anyone outside the fandom, yet how incredibly contextualized each of these little vignettes were.
