I really miss being into homestuck. It was my biggest hyperfixation for 3-4 years and then I slowly got disinterested. It's been a few years though, I'm going to try to finish the whole comic. No matter what though, it still holds an incredibly special place in my heart.

He lost everyone and was forced to live as a glorified warp drive engine. Sollux? He tried to save everyone but died of the attempt even though he succeeded. Mituna? He lost his mind.
Another version of the myth has One being the son of Zeus, and the other the son of a mortal (yet still twins somehow). When the mortal Pollux died, Castor begged Zeus to let them share his immortality. He agreed, so they could stay together: six months on olympus, and six in hades. This connects to sollux's two dreamselves (one near the heavens of skaia, one near the abyss of the furthest ring), and his eventual half-dead status.
I realized why Captors associate with bees. Bees can deliver a mighty sting, but only do so when it's very necessary. And when they sting, *they die* defending what they stand for. Or if they're *LUCKY*, they get TWO chances to attack.
I wish I could have that moment back man. Finished it with the community in 2016, discovered and caught up to it right before the final update. I saw its last blink of life. Still is the greatest thing I experienced, so many years later and there's still nothing like it online. Pretty sure it won't happen again too.

There's something about a medium being that permissive, an author being that adventurous with style especially early on, and a fan base which had an explosive creativity that made it what it was. You could do a lot to make something similar, but you can't bottle this.

This was one of my favorite songs when I first started reading Homestuck. I had stopped reading it for about three years, then one day UA-cam gave me this song in my recommended. I got to relive all of the emotions I had when I first listened to it and first started reading Homestuck, which led me to reread what I had and eventually finish it. It's still one of my favorite songs, probably like in general and not just Homestuck-related and always one of the first songs I recommend to people interested in Homestuck. I could go on and on about how much I appreciate this song, but I think I've gone on a bit already. I'll end by saying that you're super talented and thank you for creating this song! :)

My mom died in 2012. I really didn't know how to deal with it. I was scared, and alone, and confused. I listened to this track every day. It felt comforting. It was like a little bit of order in my chaotic life. This song helped me cope. And now, every time I listen to it, it makes me think of that time.

i see a lot of symbolism in this song. number one being rose piloting derses moon with the tumor, as she is the seer of light, which has a golden color. number two, is jade having to pilot the golden battleship through the yellow yard. then you got sollux, who’s blood is yellow, who piloted the meteor towards the green sun, which was the result of the tumor. then you got the Ψiioniic, who has yellow blood as well, who was the pilot of the condesces flagship.
Listening to this brings me back to 2011 when I first discovered Homestuck. Those first 5 acts were such a magical experience, and the crossing over of different narratives and characters' perspectives was so impressively well done I almost thought there would never be anything like Homestuck ever again. It made me totally rethink what I knew about story-telling. It was _this close_ to being a legitimate, modern day epic, on the same scale as Homer's Odyssey, no joke. It's really too bad Hussie shit the bed with the ending. He could have had something really fucking amazing on his hands, but he landed about 30 light years and 840 loose strings off base.
Homestuck is such a major influence on me as a writer and was a huge creative inspiration for me. I was fine with how the comic ended but felt like there could've been more to it... [not gonna count the epilogues and HS^2 bc they're non canon and are stated as such (Beyond canon!!) ] I guess that's where the fan comics come in!
@@voidnoidoid Yeah I'm not a fan of HS^2 because it regresses a lot of the personal challenges that some of the characters from Homestuck overcame during their arc (lookin pretty hard at Jane and Dirk there). Also homestucks ending was ok but Hussie really left a lot of loose ends that the viewers wanted to see tied up which I think is what really made the ending fall short (the epilogue stuff felt kind of trash honestly, both in the weird and unsatisfying outcomes in the candy vs meat timelines and in the fact is was just dumped out like some hastily written uni essay). Personally, I really liked the Act 8 Team for making a continuation to resolve some of that stuff and their flash here ua-cam.com/video/qS9p2gD_Ou4/v-deo.html really did a really solid job on that. Also honourable mention to Homestuck Act Omega team because that was an cool unofficial continuation of the story too.
There was never any other way that it could've ended. The man interior to the story hated the comic from like 2016, maybe 2015, and nothing was ever planned out at all. It was all live improv, live, uhh, puppet theatre. The price of that, the price.of these specific writing decisions what constitute the comic, you see it paid in its ending.

Lol I know this feeling. A few years ago I got into Minecraft modding and saw a homestuck mod and tried it without knowing what it was, and got confused and just removed it. When I read homestuck for the first time, the first thing I did was track down that mod and play it again.
I'm so glad theres still people like you finding it now. It played such an important part in my life like 10 years ago when my friend and me would nerd out about it on mumble/teamspeak everyday and it still is something really special to me now. Trying to work out my classpect over the years also really helped me understand myself and how I work a lot better too (Mage of Blood here).

tbh this is actually super gr8 and gives a good idea of the psiioniic. i mean, there's the techno-y dubsteppy part that's obvious, but in the beginning, the shifting and balance-skewing pulsing reminds me a lot of the actual psionic part.
It's actually the Psiionic's theme, not Mituna's. But he is Mituna's ancestor so I guess you could say that Mituna have something in common with this song ^_^

i need to comment on this, i doubt anyone will read it idk why, but im feeling something weird, i was just seeing some of the more emotional flashes in Karkat Goes To A Convention (no spoilers here tho), checking if Cole had updated it, and i remembered a song from Homestuck, and i wanted to find it. and ended up seeing Gold Pilot again, its been a long while since i listened to it i read homestuck in 2020, (srry new reader stuff lolol.) and sure sometimes i felt the retroactive FOMO of not having been there when it was being written, but i overcame that. Homestuck's cool, i like it, thats kinda most of what i have to say rn, this isnt that much about homestuck. as after after 10 seconds into Gold Pilot, staring at the coloUrs and mayhem Universe A cover, i started feeling this weird feeling, its not catharsis, similar but not quite it; its not really sad, its not happy either; the best way i can describe is that its a very "human" feeling. having trouble identifying it. i guess just, the relationship between humans and art and fiction is just really strange
Maybe it's a sense of longing for being a part of the fandom back when it was popular. People making HS content in droves, fans anticipating the next update and being optimistic, theories being made on characters and symbolism, etc. Without a doubt, HS is much quieter and less widespread now than it was during its peak, so seeing all of the videos and comments left here years ago feels like you're stumbling upon relics of an older time. You're a fan of HS, but you don't have much of a emotional connection to these videos and comments because you weren't there when HS was big. If I were to use a metaphor, it's like when you come across an abandoned park in a town you've just moved into. Without a doubt, that park holds good memories from a long time ago, but since you never went there before, your brain is imagining nostalgia without you actually having nostalgia. Hope this helped, I kinda went through the same stuff you're going through.

this makes me imagine an au where the original 12 trolls try to safe psiionic in some kind of mission. they enter the ship, with those pink tendrils going throughout the ship and periodically pulsing with blue and red energy. throughout the journey to the heart of the ship they get glimpses of psiionics life through the energy in the tendrils, seeing how much he struggled and was tortured, all for a chance for him and all his fellow lowbloods to live a life worth living. at the end of the song they just see psiionic in a near catatonic state, the once great hero they had been seeing throughout the flashbacks now just a husk silently begging to be let free. he doesn't even notice as his descendant removes the tendrils, the only thing forcing psiionic to stay alive and suffer. finally, psiionic is allowed to rest, and he dies very quickly after he was removed and fell to the ground. sollux just watches as his ancestor dies with a slight look of relief on his face, and just takes off all the pink things on his, then just closes his eyes and the other 11 watch

He is overwhelmed by the response to this song. He continues to produce other music, mostly commission pieces, but would like to get back to things like this if time would allow. He is a professional digital artist and animator and has been very busy with the company he works for. I know all of this about him because I am his dad.
Still remember the first time I heard this song. Was playing minecraft on a server with a homestuck resource pack and this was on one of the cds and when it came on I was transfixed, listened to the whole thing multiple times on repeat and to this day it still holds up.
I don't know what exactly it is about this song that is so addictive. The melody, the harmony, that visceral electronic reverb, it all blends so perfectly. It's a shame this music will never get any attention outside the Homestuck fandom. It's nothing short of sublime.

Listening to this brings me back to 2011 when I first discovered Homestuck. Those first 5 acts were such a magical experience, and the crossing over of different narratives and characters' perspectives was so impressively well done I almost thought there would never be anything like Homestuck ever again. It made me totally rethink what I knew about story-telling. It was _this close_ to being a legitimate, modern day epic, on the same scale as Homer's Odyssey, no joke. It's really too bad Hussie shit the bed with the ending. He could have had something really fucking amazing on his hands, but he landed about 30 light years and 840 loose strings off base.
Honestly the more you look at the ending and how the entire story was written to begin with, the more you realize just how incredible the ending was.

Homestuck is such a major influence on me as a writer and was a huge creative inspiration for me. I was fine with how the comic ended but felt like there could've been more to it... [not gonna count the epilogues and HS^2 bc they're non canon and are stated as such (Beyond canon!!) ] I guess that's where the fan comics come in!
@@voidnoidoid Yeah I'm not a fan of HS^2 because it regresses a lot of the personal challenges that some of the characters from Homestuck overcame during their arc (lookin pretty hard at Jane and Dirk there).
Also homestucks ending was ok but Hussie really left a lot of loose ends that the viewers wanted to see tied up which I think is what really made the ending fall short (the epilogue stuff felt kind of trash honestly, both in the weird and unsatisfying outcomes in the candy vs meat timelines and in the fact is was just dumped out like some hastily written uni essay). Personally, I really liked the Act 8 Team for making a continuation to resolve some of that stuff and their flash here ua-cam.com/video/qS9p2gD_Ou4/v-deo.html really did a really solid job on that. Also honourable mention to Homestuck Act Omega team because that was an cool unofficial continuation of the story too.
There was never any other way that it could've ended. The man interior to the story hated the comic from like 2016, maybe 2015, and nothing was ever planned out at all. It was all live improv, live, uhh, puppet theatre. The price of that, the price.of these specific writing decisions what constitute the comic, you see it paid in its ending.

This and Green Sun are the only two Homestuck songs I still come back to almost 7 years later to listen to from time to time. Incredible to think about how big a part of my teenage years this all was, and how our tightly knit community just fractured there at the end.

Lol I know this feeling. A few years ago I got into Minecraft modding and saw a homestuck mod and tried it without knowing what it was, and got confused and just removed it. When I read homestuck for the first time, the first thing I did was track down that mod and play it again.
I'm so glad theres still people like you finding it now. It played such an important part in my life like 10 years ago when my friend and me would nerd out about it on mumble/teamspeak everyday and it still is something really special to me now.
Trying to work out my classpect over the years also really helped me understand myself and how I work a lot better too (Mage of Blood here).

tbh this is actually super gr8 and gives a good idea of the psiioniic. i mean, there's the techno-y dubsteppy part that's obvious, but in the beginning, the shifting and balance-skewing pulsing reminds me a lot of the actual psionic part.

idk why, but im feeling something weird, i was just seeing some of the more emotional flashes in Karkat Goes To A Convention (no spoilers here tho), checking if Cole had updated it, and i remembered a song from Homestuck, and i wanted to find it.
and ended up seeing Gold Pilot again, its been a long while since i listened to it
i read homestuck in 2020, (srry new reader stuff lolol.) and sure sometimes i felt the retroactive FOMO of not having been there when it was being written, but i overcame that.
Homestuck's cool, i like it, thats kinda most of what i have to say rn, this isnt that much about homestuck. as after after 10 seconds into Gold Pilot, staring at the coloUrs and mayhem Universe A cover, i started feeling this weird feeling, its not catharsis, similar but not quite it; its not really sad, its not happy either; the best way i can describe is that its a very "human" feeling.

i guess just, the relationship between humans and art and fiction is just really strange
Maybe it's a sense of longing for being a part of the fandom back when it was popular. People making HS content in droves, fans anticipating the next update and being optimistic, theories being made on characters and symbolism, etc. Without a doubt, HS is much quieter and less widespread now than it was during its peak, so seeing all of the videos and comments left here years ago feels like you're stumbling upon relics of an older time.
You're a fan of HS, but you don't have much of a emotional connection to these videos and comments because you weren't there when HS was big. If I were to use a metaphor, it's like when you come across an abandoned park in a town you've just moved into. Without a doubt, that park holds good memories from a long time ago, but since you never went there before, your brain is imagining nostalgia without you actually having nostalgia. Hope this helped, I kinda went through the same stuff you're going through.

this makes me imagine an au where the original 12 trolls try to safe psiionic in some kind of mission. they enter the ship, with those pink tendrils going throughout the ship and periodically pulsing with blue and red energy. throughout the journey to the heart of the ship they get glimpses of psiionics life through the energy in the tendrils, seeing how much he struggled and was tortured, all for a chance for him and all his fellow lowbloods to live a life worth living. at the end of the song they just see psiionic in a near catatonic state, the once great hero they had been seeing throughout the flashbacks now just a husk silently begging to be let free. he doesn't even notice as his descendant removes the tendrils, the only thing forcing psiionic to stay alive and suffer. finally, psiionic is allowed to rest, and he dies very quickly after he was removed and fell to the ground. sollux just watches as his ancestor dies with a slight look of relief on his face, and just takes off all the pink things on his, then just closes his eyes and the other 11 watch

Still remember the first time I heard this song. Was playing minecraft on a server with a homestuck resource pack and this was on one of the cds and when it came on I was transfixed, listened to the whole thing multiple times on repeat and to this day it still holds up.

I don't know what exactly it is about this song that is so addictive. The melody, the harmony, that visceral electronic reverb, it all blends so perfectly. It's a shame this music will never get any attention outside the Homestuck fandom. It's nothing short of sublime.
