As far as I'm aware, this was being developed at the same time as Balatro, so it's actually one massive coincidence that two people in the world thought of developing a roguelike based on card games associated with gambling at the same time. @@sonoda944 I find removing cards in this game is way easier than StS. The card removal event is 3 cards if you have enough money, the drink event is another card, the couch sleeper event is one or more cards as well. Think the difference here is that in Balatro RT can keep a cool head when things get bad. Here, RT starts panicking and blindly hitting when things go wrong.
as a card game nerd, here's a fun fact regarding the 10+ pip cards: the card game "500" - a derivative of euchre, previously patented by the United States Playing Card Company, nowadays the national game of Australia and New Zealand, occasionally still played in the US and Canada - can be played by 6 players, for the purpose of which special packs containing 63 cards are made. The 11 cards in surplus of 52 are pip cards with 11 and 12 pips in each suit, and 13s of hearts and diamonds - the 11th card is the joker, called "bird" in Australia for it is often printed with a kookabura by australian manufacturers. They added those 10 pip cards because in 500 each player receives 10 cards and three cards go to the kitty always (except for the 2-handed game where there is no joker and the kitty consists of 4 cards). The 11s 12s and 13s rank between the 10 and the Jack in the natural/whist/bridge ranking. It's possible to play with 6 players without the special deck by doubling the 2s 3s of all suits and the 4s of red suits - if both cards are played to the same trick, the one played first beats the other, as at Pinochle.
My first RT video that I ever watched was one of the Blizzard sponsored Hearthstone videos where he specifically says "Four mana seven seven" and hearing him say it again today feels like time went back 5 years...

Fun fact! The rain man card at 3:35 is (I think) from a traditional Korean Card Deck! It’s mainly made out of plastic and actually smaller than regular playing cards, so the size in game is accurate. Anyway, it’s used in a game called Go-Stop and Hwatoh (don’t know if I spelled that right, don’t come at me please) which are both gambling games, I think it’s supposed to be a part of the dragonfly set, but I don’t know for sure. You were making some pretty good card choices by the end. Very admirable for an early run :) Some points: When you talk about how good the foe busting is consider it's also the same inversely for them. It's almost never worth hitting when it's possible to bust, at a score of 12 you're never taking more than 9 damage (shenanigans aside) and that's usually fine. Both final floors have opponents with access to Sweep the Leg, this means that if you're trying to beat them with blackjacks you NEED access to similar abilities to stand a chance. Pretty much regardless of what deck you're playing Rules Card, Sweep the Leg and Terminate the Tower (which tutors Sweep the Leg) are the strongest possible cards to find and you should always prioritise picking up at least one. Library Card also sometimes does the job as it allows you to steal your opponent's Sweep but you're then relying on drawing into it in time (unless you're lucky enough to find a foil) Following from that, Variable and Rounds Up cards are invaluable. Pick up as many Half cards as you can get as they have no downside. Big Two is very good but don't get hung up on its ability to convert other twos, that's not why you run it. However, it's much more powerful to play a controlling, aggressive strategy that prioritises busting your opponent as this strategy can win even without score manipulation. 7/7 and Draw 2 that you picked up are easily some of the strongest cards in the game. The Slay the Spire cards are all fantastic but Break Limits takes a special mention, and is busted wide open with Key Card which lets you lock your opponents into bust for free wins. In this strategy I would prioritise getting rid of your high value cards. Ditch face cards as soon as possible, pick up negative cards to bring your total deck value down (negative ace is fantastic) and if you're able to get the Roulette encounter in the casino you can change all your number cards at once, ideally to 1-5 of Hearts or Spades but any low number is great and even high numbers will give you much needed consistency. If you manage your deck correctly you can pick up several pieces of interaction and get your overall value low enough to draw through it every single turn guaranteeing that you can bust your opponent and allowing you to take them down without even worrying about blackjack.
i kinda hate that "trap card" has the artwork of negate attack, but has an effect that's nothing like negate attack. at the very least magic cylinder, mirror force or ring of destruction would've been more fitting but just as iconic and recognisable. hell, the effect even reminds me of split mirror of the underworld, though i understand why you wouldn't use that card.

This is entirely a Hearthstone reference, from the Overload, the art, to the frame.
While there are several MTG references, that ain’t one of them
Daneshiro is my favorite reoccurring character on this channel. No one knows when he'll show up, it's always a gamble
The pun of alucard speaking backwards is gold
Imagine if this had the Jokers of Balatro....
Now THAT would be something....
well jimbo does make an appearance
about that
"HIT ME!"
*Gets hit*
"Damnit!"
4 mana 7/7 got me cackling for quite some time. This game has so many solid meme references.
20:28 not a wise choice of words dan...
Dan always comes up with the best titles for these games
This combined with his new vegas plays show that Dan really really doesnt know the strategy for Blackjack
lmao, dan's blackjack luck is my luck with poker, and his poker luck is my luck with blackjack
RT in his gambling arc, I see
i'm SO EXCITED for Balatrolikes to become a genre; i need more ridiculous casino games in my life
edit: apparently they were developed simultaneously and both inspired by some game called 'luck be a landlord', so i'll have to check that one out too lmao
I've watched RT Game while trying to go to sleep so many times he has become an ASMR artist to me
This feels like the opposite of Balatro; always punished
This looks fun! Way more interesting than Balatro for my tastes. Gives me Marvel Snap mixed with roguelike vibes!
I guess less mechanically strong than Balatro, but so much sillier
I see that Shaman card! The damned 4 mana 7/7.
Still more reasonable that Spirit Claws+Tunnel Trogg.
The 4 mana 7/7 sent me WAY back and reminded me of what rage feels like
The use of the word ‘bust’ in this video is causing me psychic damage
“I can just make the foe BUST whenever I want”
No one is gonna mention that he sold bis Crypto literally in the exact frame where it was the highest? That was crazy.
Been playing this game for a few weeks, happy to see someone I watch share my pain
Blackjack sucks, so much so even the “never punished” RT gets punished HARD for just trying to get a decent hand
When I played this I eagerly anticipated this day
opposite of Balatro:
Always Punished
Listening to this video while I did chores was very confusing and had to rewatch for clarity. Still lost
Oh boy, it's our favorite Rumble Tumble Gamer about to discover the joy of gambling once again! I'm gonna grab some popcorn!
Played this game for over a year, glad to see it get some recognition!
Also topple the tower or whatever it’s called is broken
I haven’t thought of that 4 mana 7/7 in years, omg
18:56 “That can just make the for bust whenever I choose” different type of winning I see
I see more vidoes in the future on this game. I am excited also please check out the game "Spooky Jumpscare Mansion". definitely a game you would enjoy plus something that would do well on the channel.
Good lord, his gambling addiction has moved to Blackjack.
and now we'll wait for the utterly game breaking strats Dan gonna offer us next time
Can’t wait for Dan to complete the trilogy with Luck Be a Landlord.
This game is like a wild card party! 🎉 I can't believe how serious the stakes get with Charizards in play. It's like a mashup of everything fun! Can't wait for the dragon boss, imagine the showdown! 🔥
LETS GO GAMBLING
aw dang it
aw dang it
aw dang it
aw dang it
aw dang it
soon RT will have a "gambling" playlist on his channel
Something I find funny is that my bday is on the 21st, so basically on the 21st, when I become 21 I will head toward a casino, drink, and play blackjack, and ofcourse get 21 on black jacks
Chat can we get 21/21/21/21!!!
