What The ORIGINAL Nick Jr. Mascots Look Like Today
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 гру 2022
- Nick Jr's main mascots were two simple characters - one orange and one blue - who made up the channel name. Nick and Jr. took on many forms, with one of their most iconic being stop-motion humans in the logo. 23 years later, the original animator has come forward with an update.

Jr is decapitated

Respect
That’s honestly insane that they’re still (somewhat) intact 23 years later.
It's crazy that after taking the last frame of animation he just left them in their finished pose. I can't even describe the feeling of seeing that
Except for Jr, he’s dead
@@Dusk_Mightyena lol
hey hey, one thing is "intact" and something completely different is "still going"
I cant believe it there still around even after 23 years im sorry about je's head let's hope it comes back.
I remember these guys. A bond that will never break. They have seen better days though. Poor Jr. It’s nice to know that they’re still around.
@Ns Joah how the fuck do you not remember these things?
@nsjoah2355 it's not a show
Probably the nick hippopotamus decapitated jr
I don't know why but I think it has some meaning to it like Nick with the disintegrating arm could be the downfall of Nick and jr I didn't even heard a pip of Nick Jr

It's nice that people still care about claymation.
Claymation is an art form that deserves respect.
@@FTChomp9980without a doubt
I mean some of my favorite movies like Coraline or stop motion and claymation, so I have some bias
I wish claymation movies would come back in style
Thank goodness companies like Aardman still exist. Claymation lives in my heart forever!
This mascots exemplified my childhood with Nick Jr back in the early 2000s. May they rest easy… 😢
At least they are alive, (at least nick) and will be fixed up soon.
I find it so cool that they just kept them in that pose after they animated it, but it also feels ominous and disturbing to see them in this state. Like my childhood is slowly withering away. 😥

Damn, that just got me right in the heart! I remember seeing those two back then as a kid! So much Nostalgia seeing those two! It feels good seeing Nick and Jr again after so many years! Good to see their friendship is still standing strong! Nothing shall ever break their bond! 😁
Actually, if you seen alot of the bumpers they are actually... father and son (sometimes mother and son).
Not really friends.
@@kootunesscrewy Was about to make that correction too!
@@kootunesscrewy that honestly does make a lot more sense but it's still good to see the two of them are still staying strong and lasted this long

The Nick and jr clay models should be in a museum of TV and entertainment. To let everyone know what an era of nick jr really was.
Yeah, if it would be restored and Jr's head would be found
@@thunderbirds306pictures true, but just how it is it will still make in a museum some way with out Jrs head
In 10 more years maybe
Maybe they should make them again, since the clay is darker
And put them as a comparatiob
As a kid, I always thought the mascots were a parent and child, since the different forms they took always seemed to showcase that. Either way, I'm happy to see that the models have somewhat survived, and I'd love to see and updated version of the old bumpers
same i always thought they were a parent and a child
Same, I also thought they were a parent and child. Or a big sibling, and little sibling.

I always thought they were brothers (Nick being 7 and Junior being 4)
I find Jr still never letting go of his best buddy is adorable, and Nick just excepts this. Even now they’re still hugging, beautiful. If only modern Nickelodeon was like this. 😂
It was the last frame they ever made
Even with injuries taking them near death, these guys have one of the most strongest friendships I have ever seen.
“near death”? jr got fucking decapitated and his arm was ripped off what
their friendship still lives one!

I remember seeing the old clay duo in the old Nick Jr Productions logo on some shows like Blue’s Clues, and Dora. Seeing this logo again brings back so many memories.
Definitely one of the best nick jr related logo endings! Second place goes to the one where nick and jr are playing in a purple puddle that would form the “productions” stamp. Anyone remember that?
@@ethan_exists398 You dug up another memory.
@@ZeepAtomic yes I did! Also, is it me, or is the music on the puddle one depressing as heck’s. Even for a logo for a preschool network.
@@ethan_exists398 oh yes can’t forget that version as well.
I hate Dora the explorer.
Somewhat heartwarming. Because of how they've been stuck in their final positions since the animation was finished, it makes it seem like their bond, no matter how worse their own models are for wear, will never break.
As a kid I thought that Nick & Jr were siblings. Despite the current condition, they are still recognizable. Those models are a treasure of an entire generation.
Two generations actually, i also grew up on this logo despite being a 2010 kid.
I'm pretty sure they were supposed to represent a father (Nick) and a son (Jr.)
@@brandontheeveryfan305 I get more of an older sibling vibe
It's nice to know that the clay sculptures are still intact after all that's happened!
Well, Jr’s head is gone, but it could be worse…
@@avena5919 he probably could just recreate it, and then place it where Jr's old head fell off.
A friendship that strong shows how well those two were fit for each other
Can't believe they're still kicking after 23 years. I saw them on TV back in 2006 and watching old bumpers and shows like Gumby is what got me into animation.
Plus, I wish I still had my friend from preschool, and that was in 2007! They're gonna be friends for life

This qualifies as lost media?

I very vividly remember these mascots. I never thought I would ever see them ever again. I am genuinely amazed that the creator of them was so loyal to what they did, they came back after 23 years. It is a beautiful sight seeing them again, but also a little creepy. It is insane what happened to them.... I wish them both the best of luck in the future...
I used to be scared of these mascots when I was a kid but know I feel nostalgic and sad for them
Nice I’m not alone

So sad how nickelodens history was left to crumble.
Sadly the network is crumbling now,it won’t last much longer the way it’s going, same with Cartoon Network.

I always saw the duo as a mom and her kid and it's nice to see the model is still around regardless of condition. I'd love to see it all fixed up.

But what happened to his head?
(sniffles) We will never forget you, Nick and Jr. I'm sure, now in days, it's just the logo from the modern Nickelodeon, BUT YOU TWO WILL ALWAYS LIVE ON!
One of my childhood logo memories. Back when I was a toddler, I remember seeing them on Nick Jr. and Noggin. It was so much nostalgia remembering them. Glad to see them hugging for 23 years and will never stop at all! But the Nick Jr. Productions 1999 Clay Logo got discontinued/defunct on February 2, 2009. And the only shows that had this logo was Little Bill, Blue's Clues Seasons 3-6, Dora the Explorer, Oswald, The Backyardigans, LazyTown, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, Little Bear, Whoopi's Littleburg, Max & Ruby and Blue's Room. The sounds were a tuba version of the Nick Jr. "Just for me!" theme accompanied by kids laughing (not from the Nickelodeon Lightbulb logo) and a Hanna-Barbera "BOING!" sound when they jump.
0:40 What time is it? It's nostalgia time!!! 😁
I remember most of these shows,I don't remember the nick jr tuba one,but I remember the laughing lightbulb, and the BOING jumping sound effect, and for some reason I'm thinking of the banana splits theme song, when I only caught a glimpse of it when I was little, but most of those shows were my childhood
I remember seeing the Nick jr clay logo in the Dora Easter on the dvd and I still have it and the dvd player is broken. The nostalgia. 😌
hearing the first claymation bump legit brought a huge wave of nostalgia. completely forgot how much i watched TV when i was growing up haha
These original models are also pretty emblematic of the current state of Nickelodeon as a whole.
They've seen far better days and are falling apart as we speak.
It’s so beautiful that their bond will never break no matter what.
Nick hasn't felt the same after Jr's loss.
True and Hi there Zeep!
that bumper scared me shitless when i was younger
Oh my gosh, that nick jr jingle with the kid laughter sent me back. Despite Jr missing his head, I'm glad they're still hanging on to each other :)
R.I.P Blue you will be missed 😭
It's amazing to see the og models of the human nick & Jr just now being found are still alive. This logo was the most iconic logo from nick jr. And to think that the logo was made in a garage is actually cool. Makes me wonder if he still has the yellow background that was used for the logo
By the looks of it, it may have just been a greenscreen effect
@@LandonMac32
That could be a possibility. It does look like it was digitally made. So it would make sense that it could be green screened
He confirmed that the background was a watercolor painting he said he has it in storage somewhere
Idk if it was just me, but being a kid and finishing an episode of whatever was playing and seeing this clay model of Nick and Jr always terrified me as a kid. Hearing the boing sound and kid laughing just always made me scared.
I have wondered for quite some time what happened to the clay logo mascots used in the 1999-2007 Nick Jr. Productions logo, but I am glad to know they still exist and not completely destroyed.
8 years for that logo when it was used
Rest in peace, Jr.

yes hello it is i
FUN FACT: i actually asked this question fr
I can't believe those mascots have been around for 23 years man I feel nostalgic if even though I only watched a few Nick Jr shows like Oswald and Blue Clues when I was a kid lol. 😭♥
_Oh, man..._
Has it been that long already?! The earliest I remember watching Nick Jr. was through an episode of _Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show_ on a VHS of VCR test when we got our first cable box sometime in 1992-3. That soon led to Nickelodeon, and then Disney and CN.
Being born in 1995, I remember my introduction to Nick Jr was mainly Franklin and Little Bear as well as Blue’s Clues and Dora.
Time flies doesn’t it?
I really miss getting VHS tapes of Nick JR. cartoons. I remember that logo very well, that was back when Nickelodeon was not so corrupted by today's TV Shows, and you could watch the classics without cringing
I always saw them as a parent and kid rather than friends
Like father, like son
Like mother, like daughter
I always saw them as brothers
So, this was their fate after being replaced by an inferior logo. Good lord, that's dark.
Honestly I'm just even amazed to see this is a real thing!!! It should almost be in a museum that's amazing!!
I also want to let you know that my 3 channels are the most influenced from these golden era nickjr ids you presented in this video. The main characters on my main channel, Tedis & CO Block, are inspired by Nickjr's classic 1993 logo. Which is the characters animated by Webster Concorld in 1999. The 2 main characters I made up that are homage to Nickjr is Gilpin & Wilbur. Who are brothers. Gilpin, wears warm colored down vests, is the older brother. Wilbur wears a blue lumberjack vest with silver plaid pattern, is the younger brother. So yeah, the nickjr logo, & the many different ids used from the late 1980s-early 2000s is my biggest influence on the channels I have. This is comming from someone born in the fall of 1998.
Aww I loved these two as a child! Poor Jr. though :(
THE BLUE HEAD IS DECAPITATED?!
WHO TOOK IT
it’s fine he just lost his head lmao
Who took it???
Somebody shoot it off
RIP BLUE GUY
Wow they preserved the stop motion version
Nick: I'm still standing after all this time.
Jr: I'm suffering.
Nick and jr were together in all of the struggles like jr geting decapitated, or when nicks arm got crushed. They hugged through it all. A strong bond indeed.
I grew up watching Nick Jr. And it's sad seeing the state that the logos are in Jr. Even lost his head! Honestly Claymation deserves to be in museum.
They've never broken apart, but somehow, Nick and Junior are still clinging together like glue.

Happy for nick and jr!
Actually, that new logo was the one that killed Noggin.

Still feel bad for both classic Nick Jr and Noggin logos.
Junior fucking died
If Webster Colcord makes a remaster of the iconic Nick Jr. Productions logo, I’ll consider it as nostalgic as The Good Old Days from Thomas And Friends.
No matter what they’ve been through, Decapitated or not, Nick and Jr’s friendships will be forever.
Happy to do an interview with you about it sometime if you'd like. I have a couple photos of the shooting setup in my garage from 1999, and some media from the other work I did for Nickelodeon.
As an early 00's baby growing up on Noggin and orange Gullah Gullah island and Blue's Clues VHS tapes, I offer you the most utmost respect I can give. Thank you for being responsible for creating our childhoods 🥲✌🏾💯
No way! You’re the actual Colcord! You’re the one who gave me and millions of children happy and amazing memories. Thank you so much for what you have done for us!

atleast nick is still fine, despite being mushed
“I lost Junior in the war, i keep his headless body beside me to remind myself that i couldn’t save him.”-Nicholas Leodeon.
Dang the clay animation with the sound effect, is really nostalgic
I loved those Nick, Jr. bumpers growing up!
Even though I was born during the Face era, because I have 2 older brothers, my parents used to episodes of The Elephant Show and Capelli & Company, so I fondly remember some of the 1989-1993 logos as well as what they used during my time, when The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Blue's Clues and Little Bear were airing!
This video is also very similar to the PBS logo video idea I pitched on your community post, concerning the fate of the P-head circle used in 1998.
Blue's Clues, Dora, Little Bear, and Franklin were my childhood.
That's nostalgic.
I remember them from when I was a little girl, Nickelodeon and Paroumount should bring them back for people who grew up with these two.
Oh damn I remember these two. But holy crap, these guys did NOT age well, especially Jr... what the hell happened here?! Still it's nice that these two are still together after all these years, even if they changed horridly.
Looks like a part of my childhood is going through a stage of depression
I like to think that Orange helps Blue with doing anything since they don’t have a head
Pure nostalgia of childhood
_Oh, man..._
When he said they seen better days he was damn right.
Jr. always seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders.
I always watch nick jr with my kids since the day nick Jr first aired and I still watch it today even on DVDs of nick Jr shows
You know, I always thought of them as parent and child, a bit darker if you think about it
Dad and son perhaps? But, yeah I see your point. To me it seems that they're fusing together to keep each other alive (like the gems from Steven Universe, specifically the cluster gem experiments in 'Keeping It Together'). Their bond shall live on, in more ways than one.
When i saw the thumbnail, you could slowly see my smile turn into a very sad frown.
Oh my. I remember watching Nick Jr back then, and I didn't know the "Nick Jr Productions" endcap was actually done in stop motion!
The variant of the old Nick Jr logo I remember the most was a cat and kitten variant that was used in the bottom right corner of the 'coming up' menu on Nick Jr Australia in the mid 2000s.
I remember these little guys! Even though I wasn't around in the 90's or early 2000's, I've seen these little dudes on DVD's like Blue's Clue's (1996,) and Dora! (2000) I've even did some poses with my dad when I was younger! But It's kinda sad to see them like this. But besides all of that, their friendship will continue on. 😍❤
They really hugged at the shoulders and never let go...
Orange And Blue is always the best color duo.
Man I remember these two. While I never saw them during a broadcast, I had plenty of Nick J.r DVDs as a kid that had the famous animation after the credits. I hope you make an update vid if the models ever get restored.
Make animation strong and popular once again
Correction: It’s not “J.r”, it’s Jr.
This almost made me cry. I remember the 1999 logo from shows like Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues.
I remember when I was younger and the end of an episode would play and nick and jr would show up, if freeze thinking they’d come out of the tv and kill me if I even breathed 😂. I look back at those memories scared and happily because they shaped my interest in horror and fnaf.
There bond will never die
Looks like they're friendship still survived after many years!
I guess the lesson here is: nothing lasts forever…. Except friendship🥲

I never imagined wondering where the Nick and jr clay models were today till I first saw this video of yours sometime after you posted it. Coming back to watch this again, man it’s honestly great Webster colcord kept the clay models over 20 years later.
