Did this during the first few hours when doing the first vanguard/UC quest. You later might see the captain on her ship when she, the private, and her marines got transferred to set backwater place when jumping around different star systems.
I completed this mission around level 10 or so as a UC Vanguard like you Ox. I finished it and told my wife that it was one of the best Bethesda missions that I have ever experienced. The writing was top notch, the voice acting was excellent, and the combat and mission flow were superb. I highly recommend everyone that plays this game to do this mission. You won't regret it.
Might be worth an addendum - ran into Captain Myeong and Tsai later when I flew through Procyon, an orbital encounter with their troop transport as they were being shipped outsystem, got an update on the fallout of the mission and a quest reward.
This is going to be an issue with nearly every Starfield lore video. Why is there such a rush to get these pumped out before the game has been completed and all lore points actually understood and experienced? This has been hoofed out and he has never experienced what you just mentioned and it ruins the quality of the video. I say this as a big fan of his Fallout lore videos, I am a big fan because they are so thorough. The Starfield ones are the opposite of thorough
@@xIRzxMeRk I’m a youtube creator under an anonymous account and can say that the real reason he is probably “rushing to pump these videos out” is because the algorithm demands it or else it will show his videos less and less. Yep, sure would be nice if he'd finish the fallout 4 factions lore. He did railroad and institute, then starfield came out...dang it I was REALLY looking forward to brotherhood and minutemen. Also there's been quite a few fo76 releases waiting for some oxhorn love. 😢
This was absolutely my favorite quests so far. Two soldiers from not exactly current enemies but still rival factions on uncertain relations that had warred before just helping each other out of humanity and honor. Instant favorite. Bonus point for two things: after listening to a few sentences I recognized Torres' VA, and Cpt Myeong appears to be a Korean descendant and I'm from Korea too.
A mission like this makes the starfield universe more full of hope in contrast to fallout. Instead of a near-terminal illness to society in Fallout with it full of uncertainty everywhere, starfield feels more like a relatively new interstellar civilization simply going through growing pains, and has a chance further down the line to evolve and become something even grander in the far future.
i remember getting in to this quest by accident as i was just exploring a suitable planet to plant an outpost on. i thought it was gonna be a short quest to clear some spacers or pirates out. little did i know it would be one of the best side quests. i was also pleasantly surprised to see the myeong and her ship much later after this quest when i was in a random asteroid belt destroying them for resources/minerals and we had a quick chat over coms and we had a short convo and she thanked me again over what we did for her and her crew. i haven't beaten the game yet so i hope to see her again in a future mission or dlc.
Arguably one of the greater storylines, especially if youre freestar ranger responding to it. In fact, because of this mission, I roleplayed my Ranger character working with the UC vanguard as a sort of olive branch aproach from the Freestar Collective, to further the bonds made on this mission. And of course those of you who played that storyline must know how that went.
For me it was joining the rangers, getting that badass revolver and then going on my clunker of a ship to save some family farm In a goddamn moon made me feel like I was playing an episode of Firefly
I just played the LIST families questline. I really enjoyed the story. Once I have the right perks I’m gonna set up an outpost in the system with them, make sure they’re ok and stay that way.
So you can approach this quest from the Free Star Rangers if you’ve joined them. Each of the companions have different dialogue, and there is also a random encounter with Myeong later on depending on choices. That’s just what I’ve discovered so far.
“One day while out exploring…” ahhhh Oxhorn. I actually talk like you as I go through structures. But I still miss stuff you pick out. Well done. Also my favourite quest so far.
The good thing about this game is both factions have layers, UC isn't as "evil villains" as freestar tries to portray them, nor is Freestar the innocent victims they like to portray, infact during the armistice quest you can catch the freestar ambassador plotting to get rid of one of the UC sitting council members by killing them
There is an expression I think this mission brings great truth too: "War brings out the worst in humanity, but the Best, in a Few exceptional individuals" at the end of the day no matter what flag you stand under, or what uniform you wear, we are all human, letting yourself dehumanize someone else just because of a uniform or a flag is perhaps the worst thing a person can do. Even in the darkest of times, Humanity is stronger when we band together. I think no story brings more truth to the example that this mission sets then this, in WW2 a B17 bomber had become separated from it's flight group and a single German plane was sent to destroy it, when the German pilot (I cant remember his name) saw the badly mauled Bomber he couldn't believe that it was even still flying, he could see the crew inside watching him, totally out of ammo and at his mercy, he was in the perfect position to shoot the plane down, but in that moment he couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger, he pulled up on the side of the bomber and lead it safely back to allied lines, giving the bomber pilot a salute before he broke off and returned for home, when he got back he informed his commander the bomber had succumbed to it's wounds and crashed into the sea. he kept that secret for the whole of the rest of the war and about 10 years after that, it was only when he decided to start reaching out that word reached the Bombers pilot that a German fighter pilot was searching for the captain of a B17 that he'd escorted back to allied lines. The two met for the second time in Germany, not as enemies but as soldiers. The two became friends, with the German Pilot even being best man at the Bomber Captains wedding. The two remained close friends until they both passed away in 1998. I think you can see the similarities to this story. but it's stories like this or moments in games that restore my faith in humanity a little bit.
This quest was one I Stumbled upon while doing something else. I’ll admit it was super challenging for my young level at the time but it was genuinely one of my favorite gaming experiences this year in terms of gameplay and the depth of the story. Good job on whoever wrote it. ALSO I’d been waiting for grenades and this was when I finally got them for the first time
man these videos bring me back to fallout 4 days. i always loved how you did those videos and explained things, now i get to see all these starfield videos. thanks for all the hard work, keep it up!
Being both Deputy with the Rangers and Captain with the UC Vanguard, I wish there was an option in the dialogue for those are members of both. Might as well as be the liaison between both organizations.
I had to grav jump to try and survive one of the space combats. Grav jumped back, and now their ships will not spawn. That was two weeks ago.. now it's just an open impassable quest.
This was one of those missions that you could tell kind of had the dialog patched together. If you're vanguard, you know uc marines aren't your enemy.... If you were freestar, however, you might need that warning.
I stumbled across this mission last night while randomly exploring. Really enjoyed it and now wish the UC vs Freestar war/fallout was the main story quest rather then what we got.
I got this mission via talking to a trader and asking if they heard anytging interesting. He told me about thr distress signal so i went investigate. Funny thing is i ran into Cpt Meoyung again while i waa out surveying star systems, the UC had her out patroling for Spacers. Pvt Sai had her tell me "Hi" 😂😂. She told the higher ups she lost her marinea due to a training exercise.
This was the missing that made me realize "Fallout style death in a normal universe is brutal." There was no corrupt asshole that understaffed, or a lack of weapons due to budget cuts, or an inepr defense commander that did silly tactics. This was just a group of people that got over run. Normal scientist just doing normal world style research got killed because spacers like shooting guns. It's a lot heavier in Starfield cause there's no "karmic justice" feeling
Crazy deja vu. I thought I did this one but all the people are different. It was either a slightly different mission with old enemies fighting together or it was an alternate universe
Kinda disappointed there wasn’t any actual war or open conflict in the game first Bethesda game they never did that I honestly hope they add it to a dlc seriously missing out in space combat
Ive been watching your 4 year old fallout stuf for a year now its so weird to go from seeing a video title and saying ' oh i'll have to check that out then watch" to now going " oh cool oxhorns finally uploaded this quest wonder what he found i didnt?" lol im 100 hours in to my play through and done so many side and faction quests that i now have a list of quests im wating for you to get to the quests lol
Aux have you gotten to get to New game Plus yet New game Plus is pretty awesome but it does have its downside that you do lose everything inventory wise money especially when they patch the money glitch I was pretty disappointed all thanks the rifle gaming I'm just glad you don't use any exploits so you got us all in trouble I'm glad you're doing the starfield content are you enjoying the game I think I'll be playing starfield for the rest of my life
Great video! Thanks! Now I’m wondering when Torres is getting a promotion. They’re always a Lieutenant. 🤷♂️ SURE! I’ve got some time to… KILL LMAO😂😂😂 LOVE IT!
Played this quest couple days ago on very hard realizing changing all npcs to non essential can make a playthrough severely stressful trying to keep friendly npcs alive and not killing companions when they charge in front of your firing position unexpectedly 😅😅
There is one thing I wish, small but could you post links to your actual plays of lore videos. I like your Lore videos but then I am curious what was happening in the actual plays?
I'm really hoping this quest has been bugfixed over the past month, because I had to use console cheats to get past a ton of softlocks back in October when I played it.
Oh yeah, I played this one yesterday. There are so many hand-crafted quests in this game. The UC uniforms, and the leading officer (captain Myeong), gave me The Expanse vibes (Martians mostly).
As a real former Marine, I can attest that yes command is just one big joke of a collective of the stupidist people the higherups can find. Its why we say military intelligence is a oxymoron. I'll have to do this quest just for the enjoyment of pulling 2 units collective asses out of the grinder. I will say the Myeong is so much better than the UC president, shes got honor and morals, and understands duty, its unfortunate that people like that never make it far in command. they always get weeded out while the ass kissing idiots get promoted and end up costing lives.
You should join the free star rangers and do their first main quest. This questline is one of the best Bethesda has ever created, with a zinger of an ending. You can be both ranger and vanguard - you don't want to miss this questline.
i'm here for the funny "features".. and yesterday's tourist guide are gooood at his job.. Nay, he is God.. God Dayuuumm good.. with that attitude, he can sell anything

Oxs face as he murders a helpless spacer 2:48
Love your videos, Oxhorn! Please give Starfield the full Oxhorn-Fallout-treatment!
Ran into this randomly, was completely SOL then she ran up to me to start the quest and saved my life! Crazy experience.
I had to reload this mission. The first time I opened the door I seen, living person and started shooting. 😂
One of the best missions in the Game, and captain Myeong is cute as hell.
In the space battle portion I always save a Spacer Coyote, or Scarab to capture and modify.

I had to grav jump to try and survive one of the space combats. Grav jumped back, and now their ships will not spawn. That was two weeks ago.. now it's just an open impassable quest.
The shotty is one of the best guns in the game . Light weight high damage and the ammo is fairly reasonable priced
This game is so awesome!
23:10 "You've got spirit."
And spirits! If you guys need hard booze for cleaning or recreation, we've got a pub's worth on the ship.
btw there is plenty of crafting ressources in the big yellow shipping containers on the landing pad
I'd love to see you cover the Crucible quest. That one was so weird and confusing

Myong sounds so much like the captain from Treasure Planet.
Bit of Thompson, bit of Pike
One of the first side quests I did and boy it was hard for a low level character XD
This must be your goty ox.
it's possible Myeong assisted the Rangers out of guilt for her tactics during the war.
If you have Sarah as your companion her and Captain Myeong will say they’ve heard of each other from the war
For anyone who’s watching his streams, has he found crucible and the factory yet?
Yes. It’ll probably be his next lore video.

DLC perhaps, with some house va’ruun thrown in?

The UC don't like the FC. The FC don't like the UC. However, both sides hate Spacers. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Anyone else feel something for Captain Myeong? Like... dayum. >wipes away sweat
Would the UC court martial Myong? Only if she lost. She'd be a hero if she won, and a fine example to others.
I guess Mahoney got a field promotion.

What ship is that?
The ship is called the Kepler-R. You get it for doing a quest for Stroud and by choosing the correct options. It's a class C.
They look awful young for seasoned soldiers. Soldiers that have need in combat have a certain look about them.
Oh yeah, I played this one yesterday. There are so many hand-crafted quests in this game. The UC uniforms, and the leading officer (captain Myeong), gave me The Expanse vibes (Martians mostly).

Captain Meow
I do like this quest but man does it bug me that they're in ranger outfits instead of militia.
I'm gonna say it: Captain Myeong is hot.

i'm here for the funny "features"..
and yesterday's tourist guide are gooood at his job..
Nay, he is God.. God Dayuuumm good.. with that attitude, he can sell anything
you should play the stalker games, its good
Corporal Lasagna
Okay play this game for about 12 hours now I'm noticing there are literally no white people
Freestar being useless and expecting help? gee, its almost as if they're so useless to the point they cant even get their precious Cringestar Rangers to help
