you forgot to mention the most important point of buying a yamaha r3 than the r15.. it is because of the parallel twin engine that has 2 cylinder which makes it a more premium & powerfull sports bike & also the sound of the engine is more refind with minimal vibrations even in high rpm.. single cylinder is no match with the power & qualit of 2 cylinder & 4 cylinder engines..

Bikefacts: 1.) The R15 (155 cc. btw) is NOT an entry level "Bigbike" it's called a Mini Sportsbike. Higher seat, lower handlebars designed to be ridden in a crouched, tucked-in position, turn in at a greater lean angle hence the higher ground clearance 2.) The R3 is NOT an entry level to a "Proper Bigbike" it's a Sport Touring Bike in the 300 cc. class, hence the lower seat & higher handlebars.
Good points on the ground clearance & seating position @jannick stromberg. If you are here in the Philippines, 250cc is already a big bike. It is. A 5'4 skinny Pinoy riding it & it is huge.

Which is the best beginner bike sir? I literally don’t have any experience on riding but I’m planning on buying one.
If no experience at all and you live in the city, start with a scooter. If you live in the province, start with a semi-clutch, maybe an XRM or Smash. After getting familiar with that, sell those & go with a clutched 150cc underbone, lots of those to choose from. Sniper, Raider, etc. If you are a taller rider, go with the XL's or KLR 150's. If shorter, go with a street bike, like SB150R Streetfire, Gixxer or Rouser.

Too much. If you don't have experience, build your riding skills gradually. It will pay off in the long run. Most important is you don't get into accidents by being unfamiliar with a powerful bike for your skill level.
R3 looks better. Even than the new 2019 model. I've heard that you can feel the vibrations on the handle bar and back tire with the R15. So I've heard. Only negative about the R3 2018 model is theres no ABS.

You don’t necessarily have to be able to completely flat foot as long as you have control of the bike when you’re at the traffic lights, stop signs, etc.
Keep in mind some of the best motogp riders out there are not very tall and can’t flat foot.
Have confidence, you’ll be fine :)

Masakit talaga yan. Hindi ganun design ng sport bike. Parang marathon runner vs. sprint runner, sprint runner ang sport bike.

Depende na yan sa rider. Kahit kase sport bike posture, kung sanay ka naman, ok lang sayo.

Sir, im 6 foot 1 and planning on getting my first bike, what can you reccommend (aesthetic wise) between ymaha r3 and ninja 400? I dont want to look like a dude with a "cute" bike.
A sport bike would always look cute to taller, lanky riders, even the R6 or the ZX-6R, but much better compared to an R3 or a Ninja 400. So between a Ninja 400 or R3, R3 with it's more lean forward posture would be better suited for you.

Your question should be, how to drive a big bike? Thats if you have not driven over 300cc before. Theres a huge difference sa pag mamaneho kung mag 400 to 600cc. Isa na doon yong countersteering. Dyan maraming nag oovershoot sa curve dahil hinde lang body pisitioning kung nasa curves ka. Meron pa yong bago mag curve kapag nakapag brake ka na, anong gear dapat ang tranny mo vs sa rpm mo. At yong throtle control bago mag counter steer o e "benking" ang motor. Kahit na R3 o mga 250 to 300 cc may nagtanong sa akin kung bakit lumalagpas daw siya sa yellow o middle lane? Kaya kung kukuha kayo ng malaki e practice nyo muna.

I decided, i will go with 2018 r3 than new one because
1. New r3 is too fancy
2. Probably price increase by 10-15k php
3. Old r3 has eager looking than new one
4. I’m 5’6 (i hope i grow by 1 inch lol) so i might not have any issue with position
5. I don’t have any issue with 2019 but and i say again, I’m not into fancy sportsbike

So i decided to buy r3 this December or earlier.
As long you have a competent, reliable bike that you like & you are capable of riding, that's the most important thing. Good on you @crimson caster.
JanggoMoto 1911 indeed sir, it’s been a year since i start researching with r3, it comes with advantages but also comes with disadvantages including not having slipper clutch and just heard 2019 and still no slipper clutch added. so my research has come to conclusion, and made a decision. Hopefully My aplication for loan will accepted early as possible.

@@Janggo1911 *i changed my mind!* i really disappointed over the sudden price change on R3 from 239K to 259K(based on US$ 52x4,999$) but the most disappointing part is, still doesn´t have VVA on it and. as yamaha says the 2018 Yamaha R3 will no longer available once all the stock sold out. so, i better go with R15 comes with Assist and Slipper Clutch and VVA.

Sakto height mo for the R15 V3. Sakit ng likod varies from one rider to the next. Sanayan lang. Pero definitely not as comfy posture as say a cruiser.

You are wrong about the Slipper clutch, slipper clutch is a back - torque limiter, it mitigate the effects of engine braking when riders decelerate, slipper clutch has nothing to do with the softness of the clutch lever when you pull it, The main purpose of a slipper clutch is to prevent over engine rev and rear wheel hop
New motorcycles that have slipper clutch have clutch assist. You are correct explaining the job of the slipper clutch.

Nice explaining but in America there nothing below a R3. And the R3 here is call a beginner bike which is really not it’s a beginner bike for the race track. But you can learn on it as a beginner bike. A lot of R6 and r1 rider hate the R3 calling it slow and stuff but when you on the race track you’ll beat them on the corners and all type of way. Beside the long straight away and freeways

I really don't know how to answer your question. I just know I am not flat footing it at 5'7.5"
height would not determine how you flat foot a bike or tip toe, its not reliable... some people have longer legs than people who are taller than them, better sit on the bike personally to know... i'm 5'8 but i can almost flat foot an R6, an R6 which has a definite higher seat height than an R15, jango is just giving inputs on his own experience which maybe diff with others, so i think he's ok giving his own inputs based on his height and experience sitting on the bike
A very nice observation @BT-X. Never thought of the long legged guys, they would definitely be an exception, but yes, they would be able to flat foot a bike with guys with the same height.

R15 has aluminum swing arm, variable valve actuation, USD front suspension, full LED lights and a slipper clutch. NONE of those good components made it to the R3. The R3 is also the only bike in the R lineup that uses a diamond frame instead of a deltabox frame. Imho the R3 does not deserve the R badge. Hell, the R3 consumes as much gas as the FZ07!
Just my observation, as the Ninja 300 is much expensive than the R3, these could well be the reasons for it. @Greg Chua, you answered a question I was always asking.. why is the Ninja 300 more expensive than the R3. Good info!
Im not a hater of yamaha nor a kawasaki fanboy but if i were to choose between a bike that's been developed and refined since 1986 (8 years before i was born!) or a bike developed solely to grab a piece of kawi's market share, then its worth the extra 26k for the ninja 300. The R3 was recalled 3 or 4 times since its release so yeah.
In my country the ninja is cheaper by good amount... but yes R3 is much faster than r15
