Its great to see the excitement for a modification to your daily. It shows your enthusiasm for cars.
The 97-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SC GTP’s can get easily 35 mph on the freeway. I have gotten over 40 mpg traveling a cross the country. The Supercharger is always spinning and drawing compressed air into the motor. This makes for better air/fuel mixture upping the Gas Milage. It also more efficient at higher elevations like over the Rockies using less gas with increased power. Every vehicle with a V-6 or above should have Supercharged Engines. Jet Mechanic USAF Retired
Mines only get 18 mpg, well that's what it say on the dash
The 3.8 gets 30 mi per gallon is supercharged gets 28 and you're only getting the supercharger when you go past a certain RPM LOL

I’d believe this if you used a tuner with some mods. In all the years of tuning and building 3800’s I’ve only ever seen results like this with a mileage tune.

Just bought a 2002 gtp sedan today, silver 147k miles maintained well good shape and new super charger and tune up for 3200. I love this thing !

Love those older GTP's. I bet with the tune and CAI it'll be a pretty quick little car.
I have a 2005 GTP Comp G, stock it makes 260hp 280ft/lbs, ran a 6.5 0-60 and 15.0 1/4 mile. With just a Cold Air Intake from K&N, a pully upgrade, and a good dyno tune, it made 298hp 330ft/lbs. Dropped the 60 times to 5.9 and the 1/4 in 14.4. Would be faster with better traction but it is just a daily driver with 225mm tires in the front. Love my G8 GT and GP GTP.

Had a slighted modded 2004 GTP in Galaxy Silver until it was totaled by a kid in a Tacoma last year. For the first 10 years or so of ownership it was a rock solid car. However, 10 years + 1 day-- the engine and electrical gremlins started paying constant visits. Still love the car.

Nice. I always liked these supercharged 3800 cars. I'll have to check out CAI's catalog. I thought they only offered stuff for newer vehicles. I'm a vehicular slumlord.. lots of older stuff. 10 vehicles rom 1986-01.
That is a nice looking CAI Ande! I especially like the clear top so you can see at a glance how dirty the filter might be.

Bad thing about those cones is the oil from them gets sucked onto the MAF and you'll get a PO171 code. If this does happen, your gas will go down, as well as performance.
I was hoping you would have went for a test run. I put an Air Aid intake in my 05 Silverodo made a big difference in sound and a few extra hp
I remember putting a cone on my supercharged regal when i was 16, the whine was so cool when it wound up.

Only thing I would suggest from all these manufacturers would be to have a smooth bellow as opposed to the stock lumpy bellow it just looks nicer. A lot of the short ram air intakes come with a smooth chrome bello with a sensor port.
Yeah people don't realize those bellows smooth air flow. So youre slowing it down as opposed to a tube or like a silicone hose/tube.

Please do a downpipe next, if you just look at where the rear 02 sensor is located you'll see the "u-bend" as they call it and the exhaust comes down to roughly 1.5" where the 02 sensor sits. Deleting that alone is the best cheap mod you can do and reduces knock, which the engines generate a lot and is a big problem.
Make sure you change that supercharger oil sir

I went with zzp cold air intake wizard box I should have went with something else it was very thin aluminum and plastic and there was no heat insulation .i should have went with K&N or that one looks is much nicer

most of the 3800 powered cars from this generation have a fender intake anyway so a 200$ intake system isn't really necessary. Most people, including me, just gut out the factory air box and get almost the same results for free,
exactly. The CAI kit in this video is basically for looks. It's long been known that for these generation of cars the fender intake is literally the way to go.
As soon as I gutted my airbox there was an immediate change in the way my car sounded, maybe even in the way the throttle responded. The only thing stopping me from modding it further is my transmission. It feels like it's starting to go out and I don't wanna stress it anymore.
Yeah... transmission is a nec. mod on these vehicles...

smaller supercharger pulley to make the impellers spin faster to produce more boost
Can blow the engine with too much boost thought. The engine is only tuned to handle the standard 6-7psi the m90 can make

Looks like it's got a new supercharger nose only other thing to worie about now is the ruber coolant lines under it and motor mounts that's about all that ever goes wrong with them
redbeard 123 was gonna comment that if he's ever working on the accessory drive side, take the extra time to change the coolant elbows to metal ones, n check the coupler that connects the snout to the supercharger

That will never work without turning and a bigger throttle body and intake . Without upgrade the intake and tb you still gonna flow the same air amount just a couple degrees diferent and if the intake filter sux air in from engine bay it might even heat up the air .

3800's are pretty good as it is... Get an exhaust and an intake and it makes good power compared to most motors

Hey brother I went to their website and it says if you have a 97 Grand Prix you gotta order different clamps and a overflow bottle. Did you have to do this or just straight bolt on?
Yeah the 97 Grand Prix has the coolant overflow bottle over by the drivers headlight, but I think the 98 and newer ones have the bottle relocated over to the passenger side strut tower, so for the 97s you have to relocate the bottle to the strut tower like the newer models have it.
