- We came across the world's FIRST C8 with a brand new 427 cubic inch engine in it at the @LingenfelterLPE booth at Hyperfest 2024!
Come along with us as we talk to Mark Rapson of Lingenfelter about how they developed this BEAST of an engine, progress made so far shaking it down post-install, and we even get to hear this amazing engine roar to life!
Special thanks to Lingenfelter for providing the video clips in parts of our video - you guys rock!

From Lingenfelter's website:
The iconic 427 cubic inch engine for the C8 Corvette is the most powerful naturally aspirated C8 engine available. The Lingenfelter Eliminator Spec S 7.0L LT2 Engine makes over 700 HP on 91 octane gas!!!!
The Lingenfelter 427 Eliminator Spec S Engine was developed to give C8 owners the sound and feel of big cubic inch and high torque naturally aspirated power for their mid-engine Corvette. A mind-blowing 700+ horsepower at 6700 RPM and 600+ lb. ft. of torque at 4800 RPM makes this engine the highest power NA available for the C8.
Working with industry leader and LPE development partner Callies, the two developed a unique forged rotating assembly allowing the use of a 4.00 stroke 8 weight crank with special counterweights that work within the factory oil pan and retain all factory oiling and scavenging systems. The block is CNC blueprinted and sleeved allowing a special 4.125 piston by MAHLE. Cylinder heads are factory casting CNC ported by Lingenfelter specific to the LT2 7.0L program.
A new camshaft was developed for the 7.0L engine that optimizes the power band to work within the DCT transmission's torque and shift parameters. The new cam gives great power delivery for excellent drivability. The engine makes this great power with both stock and aftermarket manifolds.
This winning combination allows for both Coupe and HTC C8 Corvette owners to enjoy the big power of the world’s first 7.0L 427 LT2 naturally aspirated engine built by Lingenfelter.

We owe the modern day 427 to John lingenfelter! R.i.p John.
Because the 7 liter displacement is the internal swept volume of the engine. It doesn't at all change the external dimensions.
I was gonna say that they are the same size, thanks for this !
Exactly. Even the prior LS engines were the same dimensions between the LS1 346 and LS7/427.
Correct. It’s still a small block.
This is what the C8 70th Anniversary Edition should have come with a 427 7 liter v8 70 th lol different engine from GM would have increased the value of the car a lot more
Great video, Fresh Vintage! Thank you for taking the time to chat with Mark Rapson about the build & showing off our performance passion project!
Absolutely thank you as well! Lingenfelter bringing the 427 heat for C8 owners around town or on the track 🔥🔥🔥💯
4 inch stroke 4.125 piston.. oh wow so hard that literally every shop are doing it. That 8.1 c8 is more impressive
Yeah but that 8.1 has been a monster to get going but I can't wait to see the finished product...
Careful guys, Race Proven Motorsports in Delaware, dyno ed Lingenfelters Corvette and the cost to hp gain was a little to be desired. If you have Lingenfelter money, you have Late Model Racecraft money in Houston showing strong gains. My Camero is scary to me now! Thanks Steven!
You can't even spell Camaro you probably drive a Chevette
@@billmadison2032 🤭😂🤣😭
Don't even know how to spell CamAro huh
What kind of warranty does LMR offer? Lingenfelter is 2 year 24,000
Sounds awesome!
Alter Falter ist das ein Sound 🤣🤣🤣🤣 mit 7.1 😱😱😱😱 der Hammer 👌👌😁😁
There is a old guy that builds corvettes with a UA-cam channel. He put a real big block in his c8. It's a 427 or 454. Not a ls based engine.
Thanks! Do you know the channel's name? Would be great to check it out 👍👍
@@freshvintage let me look it up. He actually had to make a set of big block heads to work with the c8.
Larry horver is the builder. It's on Greg quirin channel
@@uberdriver5711 Thanks for this we really appreciate it!
How they fit a 427 in there? Because the outside dimensions are the same for a 4.8,5.3,5.7,6.0,6.2 and 7.0
Small block
Threse a guy that just put an 8L in one
Not a tall deck block its dimensions are unchanged. I have a 416 LS9
Just saying that an LS/LT engine is the same outside dimensions whether it’s a 4.8 truck engine or a 7.0 427 LS7, the CID or Liter displacement comes from the bore and stroke inside the block, they can go up to 464 with the standard short deck that came in production vehicles, and I think 495 with a billet crank, the aftermarket tall decks can go over 500 cid.
Engines physical size doesn’t change! Only the bore & stroke! Check around, because a guy has already done an actual big block Corvette! It’s on UA-cam!
Now thats how a C8 should idle! =)
Did he say the 427 “Goes back to the very first one (Corvette)” ? Umm…???
He did say that 😂 i mean, 2nd gen is close enough
@@boblevine104 first big blk vette was a 65 396 ,425 hp first vette was a 6cyl.'53
It fit because it’s the stock motor that came in it just different rods pistons crank and sleeves
That’s a bad ass Vette
I am all in....
I can't run the miles up on this factory Z51 engine fast enough...
GM,Are you listening?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching and checking out Fresh Vintage! Lingenfelter is building beasts for sure! 😊
It is awesome. Does it work with E-Ray too?
Thanks for watching! We're actually checking with Lingenfelter on this to find out as we're not sure if it's the same engine and transmission setup in the e-Ray 😊
@@freshvintage It is... it fits.
427 goes all the way back to the very first corvette? Are you sure about that?
Nice video.
Thank you for watching and subscribing!
That antique lump will be bending the frame…
Actually the first Corvette's were powered by a straight six.
Those days are coming to an end fast… Electrification in combination with ICE is the future of many performance car manufacturers… Corvette has to stay relevant and the only to do that and compete on the stage is to adapt. First Z06, then Eray, next ZR1, then ZORA.. Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren & Porsche are Corvettes competitors and are killing it with electrification. The future is here.
They are nowhere near coming to the end. With die hard enthusiasts, I’m not sure that there will ever be an end.
Sorry. Not buying it.
Hard pass on EV!!!
Now put in a manual trans
Well it's NOT a Big Block! That's a 427 ci small block LT motor.
Hence the title of the video 427 cubic inches ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Is that a VIR bib? If so what event is this? That car will be a beast around the track!!
Yes Sir! We were at Hyperfest 2024 checking things out and have several videos on the event with more on the way too 😁
Thank you for the quick response. I will Google that event for next year. That is one of My favorite tracks! Loved racing motorcycles there.
Not a Big Block.
It's not the old big block. LS is a different story
Yeah 427 LS/ LT alot better then old 427BBC🤷🏻♂️
A revised LS7 should have been in the C8 Z cars. There was no reason to build the Ferrari wannabe overly complicated LT6. The LT6 development dollars should have gone toward reducing weight by 500lbs. GM needs to take a lesson from Porsche in iteration instead reinventing the wheel every model. Since Tadge isn’t allowed to buy his own personal Ferrari, he’s trying to turn the Corvette into one.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
But guys, it's a bigger number, which means it's a bigger motor. It's literally a bigger cubic inch. It probably also has those really high gears, like 4.56's 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Higher numbers are always better in gearing right?! 😂
Because it's about the same size as a 5.3? I dunno.
Greg Quirin put an actual 8.1 L big block in a C8, before you LS swapped one. Sorry. Facts.
Thanks for letting us know we will delete our video right now 😂
Last time I checked 8.1 liters isn’t a 427….
@@fatdan172501 last time I checked an LS wasn't a "big block"
@@jamesgeorge4874 literally no one in the video said anything about it being a big block lol. And it’s an LT not a LS, try listening before commenting next time so you don’t look stupid.
Oh good, a step backwards. What’s next, a Flathead?
I heard the next Corvette will have no floor boards and you'll just use your feet 😂
I'd take the Porche 917 flathead.
Is it LS based or LT based
LT
Lmao its the same block , its not like a 427 Bbc was put in it. 😂
The C8 decal is moot.....Along with the Camaro horsepower decal... Makes it look cheesy...just sayin
$150k no thanks
that is not the price....
That's not much more power than the original LT6 engine with 670HP. That's only 34 more HP than the original that is only 5.5 liters. This makes zero sense to me.
Wow, an engine swap with diff bore size. Ground breaking.
It’s not a swap dingus
Twin turbo that badass n seethe horse😂power😂??
Why do all this for 704 HP when you can buy the Z06 with 670 HP? A little tune, intake and exhaust and you're looking at 690HP.
Reliability and cheaper
Congratulations, you posted the DUMBEST comment on this thread... *smh*
So barely more power than zo6 🤔😒😒😒
The question is.... the tune thats shown is it at its lowest setting middle or high? I'm pretty sure it can make more if they wanted it to
Trust me when I say if I had a C8 and had the cash to drop a 427 in it I would 100% do it 😁
Z06 is cool and all but it's not 427 cool 😎
@freshvintage I need more 🤪 if I'm gonna do swap I need at least 800 at the wheel 😌😌😌😌
@@mryeahisaidit And if this 800HP would you say you need 900?🙄
@garyglenn3654 very true 👍 cuz going fast is addicting 🤔 we should probably aim for 1000+ and bottle 🍼 feed it too
😈😈😂😂 I can hear my neighbors complaining now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's a dumb thumbnail we all know how they get to be that big
Thanks for your comment! We are actually testing three different thumbnails which one did you see?
LS7 is 7 litre
