Thank you for this video, I was getting ready to pull the door panel to clear out the water, but watching this video save me alot of time. Our 2016 Camry does not have the tabs as shown in the video, instead the weather stripping on the bottom of the door covers the drain holes. I pulled the weather stripping away and it drained the door.
I have this problem in all doors on my 2020 Corolla SE, it’s still under warranty. Do you know what Toyota does to fix this issue? I mean, if they take the drain plugs out and that’s their “fix”, I can do this myself and don’t have to deal with them
On a 2002 Toyota Avalon how do I empty the reservoir under the door panels? The water is not accumulating in the door it appears to be under the door floor panels draining from the sunroof as I understand. Thanks
I’ve got a 2005 Corolla and no issues with water in the door. However I am getting water buildup in the back behind the driver seat on the floor. It is definitely rainwater any clue what could be causing that and how to deal with it?
If you have a sunroof it is usually the sunroof drain that is clogged. Often these run through the door pillars. Easiest fix is to very gently blow compressed air. They also make flexible rods (like pipe cleaners).
This is ridiculous, I have a 2012 Toyota Yaris...I noticed this happening the my front driver door, but water is gathering where we put our mail in the door. The mail was drenched! Thought I left a window open, but it was just settled there, not in the rest of the car. Why is this not covered via warranty?!?!
I spent just under $1,300 for the "Extended Warranty" when I bought my used 2020 Toyota Corolla LE from CARMAX about a year ago. Guess what. This "water in the door" problem is not f*cking covered. Criminals! No seal/weatherstripping/molding is covered by the supposed bumper-to-bumper warranty. Don't get a warranty from CARMAX if you buy a car there. You'll be throwing your money in the garbage if you do. When I realized my car door was basically a traveling rain barrel, I took the plug out, drained the water, and found out I'm on my own when it comes to getting this ridiculous problem fixed. I fear Toyota's quality is slipping. I don't know if I'll ever buy another car from CARMAX again. In the meantime, I'm keeping the plastic plug out so water can drain from the door's bottom as soon as it enters the top of the door. WTF! If it's not one thing, it's another.
Hi Rick, I can understand your frustration with both your warranty and Toyota. Just curious, how many miles do you have on your car? This issue will be covered under Toyota's 3 year 36,000 warranty and you could also apply for what is called Goodwill. Goodwill is when you are out of manufactures warranty but you still can get it covered. Goodwill usually occurs when the manufacture knows it should be covered under their expense. As for your extended warranty, the companies usually try to find a way not to pay. In my opinion, this is a Toyota problem.
Draining the water shouldn't be a realistic "fix" because over time mold, rust and mildew will develop.. Even under factory warranty their only fix is to pull the drain plugs out. I have a 2022 Corolla with this issue.
@@willautohelp5606 An interesting thing to point out is that I traded my 2021 Corolla SE, which is made in Japan, for a 2022 Corolla SE Apex, which is made in Mississippi. The 2021 Corolla didnt have this issue. From what I've read, the water in the doors is an issue with the cars made in the states but Toyota won't recognize it as a defect.
@@lchicks86 Of course, Mississippi. That's all you had to say. Some meth-addicted or half-drunk, overpaid, illiterate, racist moron with a confederate flag tattoo probably installed your door seals, the same guy who did mine. A tech at Toyota also texted me and said it's simply poor manufacturing. It's a common problem apparently. Unreal! I think I'll trade it in for a German-made vehicle.
Yeah, mine is a 2020 Corolla SE made in Mississippi. I have this same issue all the time and all doors. I will just permanently remove 1 drain plug from each door and call it a day. I don’t think Toyota will do anything to fix this, even if the car is still under warranty
@@DD-gz9ut Pulling the plugs is just a bandaid. Over time rust, mold and electrical problems will arise from water being in the doors. Toyota isn't owning up to this obvious defect.
Thanks, didn't know it could be fixed under warranty.

some models have weather stripping. I think the Rav4, Camry, and Tundra
Thanks for the tip. My 2015 Camry doesn't have the tabs either but the weather stripping. I will try this today when I get home from work.
Thank you! I was annoyed by the sound and didn’t have time to go to the service center and anyways my car is out of warranty.
What is the dealer fix for this problem? Thank you

so far, that is the fix
YESSSS I HAVE THE SAME CAR AND ITS SO ANNOYING
2008 Nissan Armada having same issue on drivers side door. Pulled the rubber gasket off under door and water drained out..

How to return what you have pulled fot the drainage?
I remember when Toyota stood for Quality.
I still think they are better than most. I'm really disappointed with American cars.
yes.. right door.. i thought wuuuutt.. but an easy fix.. 12 gauge in the lower part.. pow!!
Thank you

It should be covered imo

Any respectable shop would have just drained the door for you. Fixing it, well that's another issue.
The sloshing water sound is happening in my Toyota RAV4 2021 on the right side, it’s increasing every day, I’m concerned

I agree. You do not want sitting water in that part of your car.
