Why does it it accumulate in the first place?
People like YOU have been helping this single mom on a budget keep a 2008 Nissan Altima running strong. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share this knowledge 💗
Thank you for watching!!!
I totally agree! This single mom of 1 needs to keep this 2009 Mazda going!
did your car have a mildew smell when you rolled the window down?
Bro thank u i swear i had a jug of water in my back seat this vid saved me
No problem 👍
Did it leak into the carpet?
No one gonna ask why you had a whole jug of water in the car??
😂😂😂😂I swear
Same here Bruh
This completely helped me!! I didn’t have the air pressure tool at hand so went to the gas station and used the one there the water came out like a freaken river! I appreciate you so much for this. Didn’t realize the drain holes can get blocked up like that!
Glad it helped!
DUDE! I’ve had this problem for about 3 months and thought I was going crazy. After watching, I opened my passenger door and shook it. Sure enough, sounds of water sloshing around. It lasts for up to a week after it rains. It’s been raining more lately so it’s definitely becoming more of an issue. Thank you so much! I’m trying this tomorrow morning.
How did you make out?
@@HomeOwnerRepair it worked!
I had to make sure to come back and thank you on this video. I heard water sloshing coming from my passenger side of my Corolla for about a month now. When I went to look for the drain holes on my door after seeing your video, all 4 doors had plugs covering the drain hole. Passenger door pissed like a racehorse for a good 2-3 minutes. Not all heroes wear capes!
Thanks for watching
THANK YOU!!! I used a slim plastic stick, and it worked!!
I gently ran it along the bottom of the door and found 3 clogged drain holes. The water is finally out 🙌
...time for new door seals 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for taking your precious time to help others. I also have been hearing sloshing when I go to brake. I thought it was water bottles under my seat. I discovered the water by sitting in my backseat and running hand under the seal. The water started draining. I came inside and you tubed this video. I am trying to do things on my own and not rely solely on my Husband to fix all of my automotive problems. I appreciate your video!

Thank you I just drained my back passenger door at work. I kept hearing it when I would make a turn. Turns out they put tape over the holes from when they were painting it. Glad I came upon this video. 👍🏾
Glad this had helped you out. Thank you for watching.
Thank you so much! This has been driving me crazy for years and I just fixed it with a bread bag twist tie!
Glad it helped!
Good tutorial. My 02' Grand Marquis rear passenger side door was full of water. After watching this video I took a paperclip and ran it through the two drain openings which loosened up all the crud. The water came gushing out.
Glad this helped you out
Thanks so much. I'm 40 and am pretty handy and ive never seen this before. So glad its such an easy fix.
Glad this helped you out. My dad’ an auto body guy ...I’ve seen this a million times in the shop
For 2 years i thought I had to remove the door panel or drill a hole to get that water out. Your video helped me solve it in 3 minutes. Thank you!
No problem at all. Glad this helped you out!
Thanks for taking time to do this video.
As soon as it stops raining, will do this.
Thanks for watching. Let us know how you make out
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am about to embark on an 18-hour road trip, and I could NOT figure out where that sloshing was coming from. At first I thought it was the jug of windshield fluid in the back, but it continued after I removed the jug from the car. It was driving me crazy! Luckily, all I needed to do was stick a knife into the opening and clear out the muck that was clogging the drain. But I would’ve never thought of that. Thank you so much for your generosity in making this video.
Thanks for watching. Glad this video helped you out!
OMG.. Thank you! This has to be one of the weirdest car issues I've had. But easy to fix after watching this.

I am in the UK and own a Citroen C3, I had this problem and your suggestions along with those in the comments worked. I am no mechanic, but found the blockage and the water has come out.. Thank you so much 🙏
Glad it helped
THANK YOU for making this video! I am not a car person admittedly and I honestly didn’t know that drain holes were there! I went to go just look at them after watching this video and come to find that the previous owner had actually TAPED THE HOLES! Once I pealed it off the water came pouring out!
Unbelievable ....glad this helped you out
It worked!!! Man I so worries, but thanks to you, it was an easy fix. I put my fingers and felt the openings. They were clogged because of some broken glass (someone robbed my car a while ago.). I’m super thankful to you!!

Thank god I looked this up, my stepdad was like "We may just have to drill a hole"
Thanks for watching
LOl I was thinking the same
Hi, just watched your video. I’m a 66 yr old woman and if I can do a DIY to save money I’ll do it. I was planning on taking my car to the dealership to resolve this issue, instead I looked to UA-cam. After looking at other videos that suggested drilling small holes, or just other stupid stuff.....I found your video, your knowledge of the problem and how to resolve was perfect. Also I read all the responses where one person stated there were caps over the drip holes on his door. Armed with your information and the possibility there may be caps.....which mine had as well, I got the water out, now I’m wondering if I’m capable of putting on new weather stripping, and where would I buy it. I have a 2012 Ford Expedition, there was no water in the interior, only inside the door. Would I only need the weather stripping or gasket??.....for the lower part of the window? Thank you very much. I subscribed subscribed, and I’ll watch all your other videos just in case you have more information I can use now or in the future.
I am glad this video has helped you out and you didn't drill holes in your door! I have over 30 years of automotive experience to the point where I have developed quite a few automotive products for some pretty big companies. If you have any questions we are here to help you out.
Did you remove the weather stripping? Didn't need to. Just push it down gently and pop the cap .. then replace cap, that's it. This video helped me too, that swooshing sound was driving me nuts.
Wow just drained my door. Amazed. Thank you
Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to drain the water our of a car door.
Tony your right about the water I have a 2015 F-150 water was coming out the drain holes vary slow; I use a compressor to clean out the holes and it fix the problem; I go to the car wash and water maybe getting into the window seals.🤟
Thanks for sharing
Thank you thank you thank you! I started hearing slushing water in my car after driving my car for the first time since quarantining. I just presumed it was a bottle of water somewhere in my car, and I didn't even realize it was coming from the passenger side door until today. I didn't know doors had these holes until I watched this video, and sure enough there was just the slightest bit of leaf debris blocking the one hole my door had. I poked it away and the water came pouring out. Thank you again!
Glad it helped!
Sometimes the drain holes will get clogged with debris and dirt.... sometimes you have to remove the seal on the bottom of your door to flush everything out and drain the water..... thank you so much for sharing this video I have had this happen to both my truck and car....
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Very grateful you helped me get the out.
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel! Have a great day!
Watched you for the 1st time. This just happened to my 2020 Toyota Corolla. My sister said this car sounds like an ocean.🌊 I will go to the gas station & try this- 🤞🏻 Subscribed Yes, It worked 😊
Glad this helped.
I had never heard I’d this before. I wish i had seen this before! I Went to the dealer and had to pay over $700 to get them to fix it. Question, how do I prevent the water from building up in the first place? I’m in Washington state and part my car outside.
If you can keep the drain holes from becoming clogged you should be okay. You can blow some air in there once in a while.
our rear pacifica holes were taped over!! looked like thick clear plastic. maybe it was from the factory and got left on 🤷♀️ THANK YOU for this video cuz who knew the fix was so simple!!
No problem at all. Glad this helped you out!
WOW so many mechanics told me the wrong thing. Thanks for this
Kind of ridiculous. Glad we were able to help you out.
Damn you took a long time to get to that big dawg...but I’ll be damned if it did not work!! Many thanks from your new friends from the Midwest. If you’re ever in Chicago first 🍕 is on me. Thx again, happy new year
Glad this helped you bud 👍
Just tried this on my passenger door. God did it work! Thank you man 😊 Had the Mississippi coming out of my door 😂
Glad it helped
So glad to see this video I was headed to the dealership to see if there was a leak in my windshield or sunroof
Glad this helped you out.
2019 and this just made me feel like superwoman🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. Thank you!
lol...Glad this helped yah out :)
This man is a Saint!
Thanks for checking us out.
Thanks for the video. Trying this on my day off. I knew I wasn't crazy lol!
Hope this helped you out
Just what I needed. Thank you!
Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to drain the water our of a car door.
Love this guy's accent, totally
Thanks for watching
I had alot of water trapped inside of my back car door. I decided to look on You Tube on how to remove the water. This video showed up in my search and I was able to remove the water with no problem. My dad was going to drill a hole at the bottom of the door and I knew there had to be a way to remove water without drilling a hole in the door.🤗
Glad this helped you out
Thank you! My Mustang had two 2” long rubber stoppers that I pulled out and water immediately poured out. I really appreciate the video.

Thanks you so much - my drain was clogged and a flathead screw driver did the trick!
Glad this helped you out!
Thank you so much for sharing your video, it’s a great help, blessings 😊
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very. Your video really help me a lot. I was scared that something more complex was going on with my car. Nice video.
Thanks for watching. Glad this has helped you out.
Glad I found this. Kept seeing water come out the rubber door seal like a river. Looks like I'm gonna gave an ocean once I clear these holes out
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video. My grandson noticed this a couple of days in my car. He was riding in the back and heard the water sloshing around. It drains some when the door is open, not closed. I don’t have an air pressure hose. Can you recommend anything else?
You could probably also use a piece of wire or maybe a ziptie or something rigid it stick up into the hole to clear the debris that is plugging the hole up on your car door. Hope this helps you out.
Thank you! I freaked out when a tidal wave came gushing out of my door. I didn't know how or why lol
Thanks for watching. Hope the video helped you out
I think you should only freak when where you live didn't rain recently :)
I opened my door today after not driving the car for a few days and got a huge splash of water, like a pint or two, coming flying out of the door! Gave this a shot, and hopefully it'll solve the problem..
Hope this helps you out.
I just used a screwdriver to clean out the weep hole of my rear driver door on a 2011 Escape. Water poured out. Im wondering though, if using a shop vac right on that hole to remove the debris wouldn’t be better than blowing the debris back into the door. Nonetheless, thanks so much.
Glad this helped you out
Yeah, i just thought the same thing...
Omg thank you! Had no clue how to fix this. The rubber trim was trapping water in my passenger door.
Glad this helped you out. Don't forget to sub the channel
New Hampshire represent
lol..yup..lol
Thank you for this video. I thought I was losing my mind. I don’t keep junk or even so much a water bottle in my car. I finally figured out it was coming from the passenger side door. Ford Mustangs have plastic caps over their drain holes. I pulled it off and water and some trash poured free.
Glad this helped you out
I just seen this online. Thanks for the info bro.
No problem 👍
Brilliant worked just as you said drain holes located and cleared. Problem solved! Thank you
You're welcome!
This is so helpful! I watched this video and was able to get the water out of my door by myself. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
This worked saved me a trip to the mechanics cheers pal !!
Glad this has helped you out
Thank you so much for this. I no longer think there’s a phantom water jug in my car!
Thanks for watching. Glad this helped you out.

Worked like a charm! Thanks
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much. So glad I came across your video. Helped me tremendously
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this! Really empowering in terms of car knowledge. I have given your video the thumbs up!
Gland this helped you out. When those drain holes get plugged up it can trap quite a bit of water in there.
Thanks Tone
Thank you for checking out our video that shows you how to remove trapped water from a car door. Have a great day!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. IT WORKED. THANKS!!!
Thanks for watching. Glad this helped you out
Nice video! My door was full of water...those holes were covered with tape!! I pulled it off and water poured out. Don't know why someone would do that.
Not sure. They should be open to allow excess water to drain out.
Thanks so much for posting this video, worked great!
Glad it helped!
Hi thanks for the video, my drain holes had caps, so when I pulled them off a bunch of water and dirt poured out. Should I be worried about how the water is getting in the door?
Thanks again, Tim from Canada

I have water getting in my 2011 nissan altima s onto the floor base but I don't know how it's getting in. What do you recommend I check? I have a small opening from a accident couple years ago. Someone hit me from behind and you can put your fingers in the trunk without opening the trunk. Is this the issue or/and maybe another problem also. My floors are soaked with water when it rains and starting to get a mildew smell now. I put towels in the trunk when it rains and they are wet afterwards, so I know that's one issue, but the inside top hood is wet in one spot also. I might have to open this insurance claim again for this problem, they didn't do a good job at fixing the issue seems like.
You may want to have an autobody shop take a look at it, and see if they can fix the body damage so that everything lines up correctly again and forms a water tight seal. Hope this helps you out.
Thank you so much! I had to take the weather stripping off but it snapped back on our Tahoe.
Thanks for watching
Thanks bro. Imma try this right now.
Hope this helped you out.
What year is your cherokee? mines an 05 and this just happened to be the first video that came up on how to drain them.
This one was a 2004
@@HomeOwnerRepair no hemi?

Thanks for the sub!
Great video. Easy to follow and nice
Thanks for watching, glad this helped you out!
Thank you
You're welcome
I never had this issue before never even realised it's a thing. Till I got my 2011 Holden Berlina, driver door gets water every time it rains, I can't seem to find any drain holes either 😢 How do I fix it so the rain doesn't get in at all?
They should be at the bottom of the door.
Do you know how to access the drains or hoses that are supposed to drain water out at the bottom of the vehicle? I have a 2009 Saturn Vue & the floorboards get wet when it rains or snows. It’s not the weatherstripping & no sunroof & no heatercore leak. So I’m curious if that could be the problem I just don’t know how to access them.
Is there a water sound under the dash board?
Nice, i just bought my pilot and it with water after a rain. I thought it was messed up or something? Turned out the drain holes were clogged. Thanks for the video

Hi! Great video. I actually lost the runners that goest underneath the drivers and backseat doors. Maine life. Anyways what would that be called and do you have suggestions on where to buy such a thing? Thanks again!
Maybe a junk yard or check Ebay
How much is too much water inside of the door? Is it normal to have a lot of water inside? Is there possibly something wrong with something allowing too much water to get in?
There shouldn't be any water inside the door. The door seal might be bad.
well you just saved me $65 and 2 hours by no having to go to the shop :)
put some canned air in those holes and it leaked like a bladder after a 5 hour drive.
We do this too in the shop if a car comes in and the drain holes are clogged.
Your video help me out big time. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Glad to hear that this has helped you out.
This worked perfectly!

I've been smelling mildew or mold whenever I open my Cadillac windows & there seems to be water on the window when rolling them back up. SoI figured there had to be drain holes at the bottoms of the doors. I googled it low & behold there are several drain holes & they must be clogged up after all the car is 21 years old.
Thanks for watching
I have a Chrysler 200 LX, there were duct tapes on the water drains of my doors, I have no idea why. The rear door on the drivers side just started corroding very quick, I just realized that it was from the water inside the door. I am not sure what to do regarding the corrosion damage. Thanks for showing how to unplug the drains.
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to sub the channel to receive all of our latest uploads.
This has happened with me too in the rainy season. But for some reason I only see water getting into the front right and rear left door only, the other two remain fine. Any idea why?. Also, isn't there a possibility that the water damages the door speaker too?
There is more than likely something plugging the drain holes in the door. Yeah the water can damage door speakers
Thanks for the Help it did help a lot
Thanks for watching. Glad to hear this has helped you out.
I found tape over all mine for some reason and it clogged a door. I wiggled small holes to let it drain in the tape. Why would they do this??
I really do not no, but those holes should not be taped shut.
@@HomeOwnerRepair yeah ripped em off today. Wonder if a mechanic I went to a year ago did it on purpose to get me back in or somethin. It was really weird. Thanks for the response!!
Thank you so much lol
No problem
Thank you so much! That did it!😀
You're welcome!
Water is getting trapped in my truck door of my 2008 VW Jetta. Where are the drains that I can unclog and get rid of this water?
There should be some right at the bottom of the door.
Ooops, I mean my "trunk" door of my sedan. My mistake.@@HomeOwnerRepair
I’ve been hearing water as well took it to the dealership they first said it was the windshield then the sunroof claimed to have fixed it. Days later (no rain) I still hear the water and they’re telling me to take it to JEEP itself. I pulled out the plug and nothing came
Out. The floor is beginning to become saturated with water. I don’t know what to to please help me
Maybe sit inside the vehicle while someone runs a hose over it to see if you can tell where it is coming from.
I have a 2012 maxima that sounds like that both of the back doors
I would check the drain openings at the bottom of the door they could be plugged.
So if I keep these drains not clogged my door is fine I don’t need to go get something fixed ?
If water drains out then it should be ok
It worked :D Many thanks.
Glad this helped you out
How much water is supposed to be passing through the door cavity? Is like a gallon of water in 1 rainy day too much? A newer f150 had the drain holes clogged. When unclogged, atleast a gallon came out. Is this normal? I was expecting maybe a cup of water.
You may want to try to replace the outer door seals around the glass if a lot of water is getting in there.
My friend kept saying she had tons of water in her door. Watched your video, went out to her car, scraped the gunk out of the drain hole & the door became a water fountain 😄 ... weird thing - the previous owner put electrical tape over the back drain hole 🤔
UGH! These drains should be open to allow the water to come out.
