+j sturgess I originally thought it was the float height but after setting that and swapping the needle to another carb I'm now certain it's the gloat needle.

Excellent work man, im actually starting to work on a 79 gs550 so these videos have been fantastic! keep up all the in depth stuff, all the complainers can skip the good videos and just watch the ones where the bike is running!
Great video. I've had my dynatek for a year and it's preformed flawlessly. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Good luck with the jetting I think your very close.👍🏽
Nice shirt! We're on fire at the moment, but they are getting things under control. I got a dynatek electronic ignition for my r75/5 about 2 years ago...It's still in the box in my kitchen. This video reminded me that I should probably install it, but I've been pretty busy on my k-bike project. I think I'll give the old /5 some love soon though. I wouldn't worry too much about the comment section, make the videos that you want to make, and the audience will sort itself out. Cheers
Well I'm a tinkerer so I enjoy that part of it. I mainly want to get a bike now and build a scrambler so I can spend my winter fiddling with the carbs and tuning it to be the most precise possible! I have had to rebuild a few tractor carbs in the past and I had a blast tuning them up haha
+Kenny Bowen I'm glad you do. It needs patience that's for sure to work on them. And sounds like you may have access to fields if you were to build a scrambler
Haha yea the mixture screws take the most time to work out. But I love the sound of a properly tuned engine! And yep! I live in Kansas in the U.S. so there are plenty of fields for me to go in...and some big sand dunes a few hours away from where I live haha
This is good stuff. I myself have suffered through the unf@cking of a '79 GS850G with VM carbs and cooked points. Your vids are well done, informative, and a pleasure to watch.
Nice mix up always great to see how the mechanics work...Some of us on not quite wizz mechanics yet but these tips get us closer and give us the confidence to rebuild stuff...Nice.
heyhey, i have a gs550 too, thinking about a dyna system, just a quick question, the dyna systems seem to have 3 wires coming off them where as my original points only have 2, is the third just an earth?, thanks :D
Can you install these Dyna kits on 650's? My ignitor is shit, and I can't find any cheap replacements. I was told they basically just connect to you coils, and everything is done.
Okay, and you are satisfied with the aftermarket ones? Can you change the leads on yours, or is it like the original where your have to buy a new coil if the leads crack? (Your videos is a big help)
Hi, really enjoy your vids man. Just wanted to know, will this ignition system work on a gs850l? If do, where could I get it. I'm in Cape Town, South Africa. Thanks, regards.
Nice work, where are you getting your jets from?? Can't seem to find anywhere to get them. I have the same set up but with 4 into 1 exhaust system. Thanks
i just restored a 1973 Suzuki Gt185, i am looking for a electronic ignition timing kit to replace the condensers and points. Do you have any good suggestions, i cannot find any anywhere?
Thanks, I'm enjoying these videos, have you ever considered digital speedos. I have just bought one for my Daytona 1998 T595, which I've made naked but the oem instruments are too big for its naked state. They seem tricky to match wires. Any plans in the future to got from analogue to digital?
I have, I've looked into them and looked into analogue/ digital converters that are available out there, for the GS I'll remain mechanical but perhaps for the CX.
Good afternoon dear friend. First of all, your videos are very good and explanatory. I have a 1981 Suzuki GS850 that I transformed into a caferacer style. I think I have problems with the set-up (distribution chain). You have a PDF file of that procedure that you can share with me. Thanks from Chile.
Heya, did you have to find 12v switched for this kit? I'm putting one on my gs750, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to find the source between the coils the instructions told me to use.
Can u please do an in depth dive into how you wire your motorcycles? I know a lot of people are intimidated by electrical systems, myself included and it would help a lot to see it happen rather than taking about it
I'm putting this into my gs project when you insert the magnet your looks like the rim is just above the 2 lugs for nut washer as mine does but when I tighten this up with the bolt magnet won't move to push the spring loaded weights have ordered new bolt and nut did you have this issue ?
So the idea to get it to run at the correct mixture at idle is to go up in size at your main jets? Why not the pilot/slow jets? Those mostly control the idle circuit air/fuel mixture. Main controls WOT
+FooDude2011 main jets don't control the idle. Slow jets and circuits. The thinking behind increasing the main jet is that it's still bogging when opening quickly and that popping you hear is running lean. I can get it to idle until the float needle is right so that's where I'll start playing with the colortune
If you were to rate this product, what would you rate it? I’m considering redoing my entire electrical system refresh and upgrades. This has come up a couple times in searches.
@@forthebold Really late follow up here, but I'm finally getting to doing this to my gs1100g in an effort to slow myself down on my e36 build. So here's my question; Do you know of anyone running a fully keyless setup on a cafe racer build? When I do mine will I be the first?
I tried to put this onto my 550. When i put the new rotor on and tighten the hex bolt, the rotor gets pinched by the bolt and the rotor wont advance. I noticed that there is a washer on the plate that the old rotor sat on. Do I have to remove the washer so the rotor sits lower on the shaft? Alternative would be to shave a bit from the top of the rotor? You can see that the new rotor sits just a little bit too high on the shaft.
In that case you should have the right number of wires. Only reason I asked was in case it was a 1 cylinder bike. Best way is to trace the wires from the ignition coils . You’ll have to unravel the loom to see. Also was the bike running a cdi with a pulse or originally points?

Hi, at 6:50 your only setting the timing right for 2 of the cylinders, I think you should have rotated the mounting plate for both pick-ups.
At that second stage I'm only adjusting cylinders 2&3 as 1&4 had been set up correctly with the plate.
Ok, did not know.
Friend thanks for the video.
but I wanted to know where you connected the cables of the Dynas board
Thanls
Best is to go off your diagram
Hello.....I have the same motorcycle...these captors don't have CDI?
Nice Job! I am trying to tune my carburetors at the moment. Fun stuff.
Thanks, good luck with it, I feel your pain.
How did you hook up the wires from the Dyna S to the coils. Specifically the use of the extra red wire that came with the Dyna kit.
I followed the instructions but all the wires made sense on this one.
Can you install these Dyna kits on 650's? My ignitor is shit, and I can't find any cheap replacements. I was told they basically just connect to you coils, and everything is done.
I’m sure you can
Usaste las bobinas originales? Instale este encendido en mi moto y las bobinas se calientan mucho

Is the extra red wire a positive or a negative hook up?
I'd refer to the diagram as each bike could be different.
Great video, I have just finished installing the same ignition on my gs550, and was wondering what coils you are using?
I'm just using aftermarket replacement coils made for a GS550, not enough pocket money available for the dyna coils.

yeah it's got the arrows pointing the right way, but it's not staying, I'm going to put a better tyre on.
Hi just asking what is dyna ignition and its doesn't need CDi support? Tq
Dyna ignition just replaces your old fashioned mechanical points with new digital points, no CDI on this bike.

hello friend can you tell me what size of jets you put?
There’s a specific jetting video in this series.
Will it work with two stroke?
Same principal if you have one for your bike
Does the dyna tech work with any engine size?
You can get specific Dynateck kits for specific bikes.
Would this work on a GS425 I wonder?
I’d take a chance on saying there’s a Dynatek kit for it
Hello, are CDI module is required here?
No, the Dynatek is for elimination of CDI

What about the part where you have spice the red wire into the coils? That's the part I don't fully understand.
