the difference between the rainbow trout and the steelhead is that one is anadromous, (the steelhead) meaning it undergoes a fish migration such as from fresh to salt and back or vice versa. the trout is landlocked and does not migrate anywhere.
Exactly. The Niagara river Steelhead migrate from great lakes to rivers so they never live in salt like the ones out west or in Europe but they still have a migration so are considered Steelhead! But the biggest difference is the sound of your reel 😉
@savagefishing8133 the real big boys are in stocked waters. But I think technically, to be a legit steelhead, they have to coastal rainbow. But you guys call them whatever you want. Awsome fish and Awsome vid
Awesome video, surprised to hear you never caught a brown before. Knowing you live near the red river I figured you fished it, riviere rouge has browns, rainbow and even brook trout, I've caught all 3 there many times 😊

I was gonna be that guy but you beat me to it lol.
But most of those rainbows do migrate from the river to the Great Lakes. That's why the average size is so good.

Andrew you were spoiled on that trip. The brown run was crazy. Awesome seeing you guys getting excited. Not the fishery you’re use to.
