I don't think that those fans are the ones that turn their backs. I think it will always be the homophobic ones that tuen their backs. Also, be careful with the word fetishizing. 99% of fanfic writers are either part of the LGBTQ+ community themselves or are at least aware that fiction does not effect reality and that they have to separate fiction from reality.
Nowadays, most of them mention in their notes that they do not project the ideas given in the fanfiction onto the "real" idols in real life.
I think most who hate are the k-fans who are already homophobic, fans who arent and write stories will love the idea that their idols are lgbtq and happy, and or straight and happy
I respectfully do not agree with you, it's mostly those fans that do not hate, some might but can you imagine how happy someone would be if they realised all the time they spent of this fantasy like relationship actually came true? They'd most likely would be extremely happy. You don't go around wasting your time just to hate when the couple is actually real. not that it's impossible for these people to also hate, but very small possibility in my eyes. Even people with fetishes would like it, they can fetishize more. the fetish people you are talking abt are Fujoshi's (Not all Fuji's have fetishes, but a lot do.) They'd go crazy if it was real, more then people who ship, because at the end of a day its a fetish.
If there is someone who writes stories that involves their feet fetish, if someone stuck feet in their face they wouldn't turn it down.
Like I said though, there are always those oddballs that turn into hypocrites.
I personally, think it mostly relies on the females who feel the could've dated said idol but when they come out to be gay, they feel mad, there is no girl they can harass, there is no chance for them if their idol breaks up, and there is just no entry way, because the idol likes men, how can these girls get with their idol if he likes men? Then you have those homophobic male fans (even female) that just thinks it's disgusting.

I hate it when idols can't date. But what make me feel bad is that when it comes to homosexual trainees/ idols, it got even worse and more sensitive than ever. I hope that at a point, people can understand that no matter who you are, or how do you identify as, love is love and we should not stop anyone from loving another just because they have the same sex.

But if you search, you'll find pictures of many idols who lifted the pride flag, like Younghoon from The Boyz, Sunmi soloist and former Wonder Girls member, Minhyuk of Monsta X, Hyolyn soloist and former Sistar member, Red Velvet's Seulgi and Yeri, Twice's Chaeyoung, all the members of Mamamoo, and many others. Idols who answered to questions of fans include Stray Kids' Felix, Ateez's Hongjoong, Seventeen's Vernon, and NCT (WayV)'s Ten. Also, Hyolyn performed at a gay club once in Korea, and Kevin from The Boyz mentioned watching Pose, which is a fx/netflix series that happens and focus on gay and trans characters during the late 80s in New York ballroom/voguing community during the HIV epidemic. Also Tiffany and Taeyeon of Girls' Generation showed support many times

The dating ban in the kpop industry is the one thing I can not understand because I get that they want their stars to be available yet unattainable, but a true fan should want their favorites to be happy. By keeping relationships in the dark, it makes things seem more like a betrayal because netziens expect a level of openness with their idols. And to be a gay idol in a country that is still working on it’s conservative views on homosexuality that’s another layer.
Some fans are crazy though and really create their own reality where they think an idol should remain available so their fantasy doesn't get shattered.

It's the risk of being an K-Pop idol, especially if your company also prohibits date relationship. It doesn't depend only on the "crazy fans" either, because some idols think if their fans don't want them to date, they won't, or do it secretly because they don't want to disappoint their fans.
that's because it's all about the IDOL image their companies manufacture. they're not just artists... they're specifically IDOLS and they were first "made" to be boyfriend/girlfriend material for their fans so they would spend as much money on them as possible... i guess you could say that it comes with the job .... i still find it very stupid

Nothing wrong with dating rumors as who can avoid that? But what’s important is being mature about it and accept that any 2 people regardless of gender or anything can love each other romantically. That is not just limited to opposite sex couples only.
People should really stop suspecting if 2 idols are dating in general. If they are in a relationship, they will reveal it. I know that it is less likely that lgbt relationships will be revealed at this time but let’s hope that things will change and there will be a time when lgbt couples will be revealed without any controversy. But at this moment if 2 people are dating (heterosexual or homosexual) fans constantly suspecting and being invested in their private lives will certainly affect their relationship. And if 2 people are not dating, then imagine how awkward it must be for them when they are constantly shipped by media.
The sad part is if they are in a same sex relationship then it will be even harder to reveal. I feel so bad for them.

@@radhadeshpande4502 Things definitely will change but it will take time. Taiwan used to be like this decades ago but now they became the first Asian country to legalize same sex marriage. It was a long battle but they won in the end. Many public figures and celebrities helped fight for it. If Taiwan can then Korea and other countries definitely can too. But it will just take a lot of time.

It is still not the best place for lgbt people to live, but slowly both the law and people's attitudes are changing.

it's harsh reality . the way the cinema has always portrayed them has made it a stereotype , especially in comedy movies . LGBTQ+ community deserves treatment like human beings . it might take more time to normalise it more but we have to make efforts as much as we can .

It's a new year, and we still have idols not being able to live freely. Their humans like all of us. They are allowed to do whatever they want. They only have one life and I would want them to enjoy it to their fullest. "Fans" or Dispatch wouldn't like it if the idols were to send others to intervene with their personal life. People just need to accept others as who they are and who they love. I remember one time my mom and a bunch of her friends were drinking coffee and one woman said she wished her son would die because he told her he was gay. She said the whole family disowned him and kicked him out of the house. My mom got SO MAD. She got up and walked out and called the other woman's son and said he could live in our house if he wanted. She never spoke to that woman again and they'd been friends since elementary school. I was SO proud of my mom that day.
As for the idols, they can do whatever they like with whoever they like! As long as its consensual its no one else's business ... Stan's back off and get a life of your own! and not LEECHING ON someone else's!! ...

If an Idol dates, it ruins their marketing plans, hence why dating bans in companies are a thing. They don't care if some people would stay because the fans accept them, they want people to craze over these idols and have fantasies dating them meaning more profit even if the crazy ones stay. Even if we don't see it as much, there are a lot of fans who would stop being a fan because their idol is dating someone (not for all, but this is mostly for idols who are new in the industry or not as popular)
If you have faminine side it does not mean that you are gay they are born that way i hope people live them alome and just support them and we dont have any right to make judgment on these kind of case

I find it fascinating that SK is so against homosexuality in the K-pop industry, and yet so many male idols are encouraged to wear make up. Where as In the u.s a male wearing make up and multiple earrings would be considered part of the LGBTQIA’s community. One day I pray we will live in a world where you can freely love who you want. Also that these K-pop stars can one day be free to date openly with out back lash gay or straight

I am just so sad…. Dating is already hard but even harder for same sex couples, especially in a homophobic country like South Korea. My heart hurts for them that they cannot love who they want and have to constantly hide like criminals. They did nothing wrong but just fell in love with the same gender. Is that such a bad and terrible thing? I don’t think so… I hope there will be a day when everyone is supportive and accepting of all same sex couples and the LBGT community as they deserve happiness like everyone else. They deserve to be who they truly are and love who they want to love…
I read about the gay Chinese trainee and felt so bad for him. He seems like such a sweet guy that only wanted to fulfill his dreams. He almost got raped too but luckily he was able to fight that other sick guy off. I hope everyone can be supportive of the LBGTQ community as they are people like us. They deserve happiness and support just like everyone else.

@@rjkore5229 it’s okay, thanks for asking! Yes sexuality and gender are separate things. For example, someone can use the term non binary and also use the a term like asexual all at the same time. Or another example would be someone can be transgender and identify as straight. Or they can use no labels at all. I was mainly bringing up their non binary identity as way of pointing out they are known to publicly self identify under the lgbtq+ umbrella and they aren’t necessarily a cis man (someone who is assigned male at birth and identifies as male). Also, Sexual minority is really only a term I heard used it east Asia and parts of south east Asia. Maybe others use it and I’m not aware but that is why I used that term. Sorry if any of that is/was confusing 😁✌️
This video broke my heart. When I was young and getting into k-pop U-KISS was me and my sister's favorite. Heck! Till these days we still dream about having U-KISS doing a come back in EUROVISION song contest. I can only imagine all the pain and conflict in these trainees' and idols' hearts when you have a passion for performing, but to get in to the game you must hide yourself. The message then to these young trainees and artists is: as your true self you are not welcome or wanted.
