It's interesting for you to document the benefits of the individual pieces. You are sharing results, so that others don't have to "recreate the wheel".
I’m thinking you could open up that 590 carb and get it to flow close to a 620 carb. I still haven’t seen anyone show what makes the 620 cylinder superior to the 590 after porting.
I do like the wrap around handle that you have on your timber wolf! I just don't have the need for it. The trees I process have already been cut down. My tree service guys treat me pretty good.
Great job on the porting! It definitely has an improvement over the stock 620 cyl considering that it's not even broken in yet. The stock 620p is no slouch. Good job man!
I gave my 590 timberwolf to my son. That's why I bought the cs 620p for myself. I did just buy the Stihl ms400 cm I put the 20-in bar on it! I have about 3 gallons of fuel through it. Nothing I have in the woodyard can keep up with the ms400 c!
Yep, runs great. Will definitely pull really good once it breaks in. No one was able to start the 281 yesterday. I got the biggest kick out of it! No one had ever felt that much compression. I stepped up and showed them how it was done!
I also agree. Sorta. That of your on a budget. Kind of like I am. It almost makes sense to chip away at it with the upgrades Cheapest 620 I’ve seen is the one I sold for 350$
Saw looks pretty cool. My 620PW doesn’t have captured bar nuts though. They are just larger nuts. The 620PW is a great fast saw that made me buy more Echo’s but they were not as good. Reliable as hell yes. Fast no.
I have a 590 with dogs mounted on the outside also. Just go to hardware store get a little screw that matches the little threaded hole In between the bar nuts
To be honest, unless you just want the captured nuts I have zero problems running a plastic cover. For all the things I love about the 590/620 platform, they are a little heavy and that gives ya a little weight savings. The only REAL advantage of a metal side cover is sucking a little heat out of that area. I've considered picking one up for my 620 if I can find one cheap enough to "not pass it up"
Same here. My plastic cover stays, especially now that I have the full wrap to protect it when I fuel it up. And I would have to paint the metal cover. They don't dye well.
If you want to run dual dogs the metal side cover is nice.I have wcs 3 point dogs on my echo 620 also my 620 didn't come with captive bar nuts but mine is a 2020 model.I think that's something they add in later version of the 620 .I don't think I would upgrade to a metal cover you still can mount an outside dog if you want they just mount on the inside of the plastic cover but I could be wrong on that.
Hmmm...well, I mean...its definitely better with the 620 stuff for sure. But you'd be in for about $500 for all the upgrades. Carb, ignition, piston and cylinder. Up to you.
Definitely break it in first. My experience with these Echo's is literally, every time you go out and cut with it you say, "man, it did not run this good last time". You run it, it breaks in, you learn what tune it likes, it breaks in more, you tune it more, you get used to it, and then all of the sudden, you have ran about 10 tanks through it and three things have happened, 1. you are a better tuner 2. it is running AMAZING 3. you are in love with it because you now have a better understanding of what it is and it's strengths.
He did on a previous video, those pistons are much heavier and a little on the soft side. Likely not to last as long either. They dont equate to a very substantial power gain. Maybe slightly more over stock but again if you are after power start with a 620. If price is a problem, start with a 590 and build it with 620 parts. Price, power, reliability. Pick 2 and go from there.
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors I know the deal, I have a 590 from marketplace as a good deal, I’m learning the tricks and simple mods, just wondering about that domed piston is all. Thanks
I do like foam, but not a big fan of how Red Beard does it. The cage style with the foam wrapped over it. I also don't like the big, obviously inferior quality of the filter covers. Although, I think his 590/620 setup will go under the stock cover. Just don't like them.
I’ve got a 572xp ordered but found a Donny Walker video with him saying 3 out of 4 new 572xp will have to be returned For warranty work because of intake boot giving lots of problems. It will make my 8th husky but will never bad mouth my big sthils and echo’s, kind of a new saw collector😂 Maybe worse then Mr. Lumberjack. I don’t sell my saws✌️
Ya know, DMC...I'm pretty sure you're a stickler on insisting that Echo is crap. Is that about right? Why? I mean...it seems just utterly nonsensical to me. It's as absurd as saying Stihl is trash, or Husqvarna is trash. It simply is utterly false. Complete ignorance. I mean, we all have preferences, but you call Echo "trash". Why? Show me a person who has burnt-out an Echo in a short time and I'll show you a person who cannot tune a saw. I have ran the 572xp. In my book, it falls squarely und the description of, "okay". So, at some point, a man needs to come to grips with the reality that...they are all good for their purpose, and folks can prefer whichever they like. But to call one of the top three manufacturers "trash"...thats childish man. And I'm not some guy who only has one brand. I have pretty much all of the big names, spanning across decades. They are all good. Quit going to extremes. Name a saw from any manufacturer that is better than the Echo 590 for the money spent. Seriously. And last I checked, a 572xp was about $1,200.
I can't tell if your being serious.I will say I like husky saws but to say echo trash doesn't make sense to me at all. Husqvarna has had there fair share of issue.I am not sure if the 572 uses the 6202 or 6203 bearings but depending on which one the 6202 has a nylon cage well that's not necessarily a terrible thing you can't tell me it's going to last as long as the echo all steel bearing construction in the 590 or 620. I bought a 620 in 2020 and in that price range the only thing Husqvarna had to offer was the rancher 460 I think the rancher 460 was $600 and I got my echo 620 pw for $580. I'm not going to say the 460 is trash but it's not on the same level as a 620 even though the prices are similar. I think price range is a better way to compare saws at the time I was willing to spend a little over $800 but I kept coming back to the echo just couldn't beat it for the price.

Good job on it 620s are incredible saws my favorite 60cc
You should dye the orange red! Like a jonsered
I started with the echo 590 timberwolf 3 years ago. I bought all my other chainsaws off of the work I did with the 590. timberwolf.
Good running saw. It's definitely a more powerful sound! And it sure cuts! Love the wrap handle too!

Nice saw Boedy. I can't wait to see it after it's broken in.
Came out pretty sweet!
She runs real good.
Your dire wolf sounds great. Pulling nice rpm in the cut🤙🏽

Now when the 590 wears out. needs a piston and cylinder. I'll probably upgrade it to the 620 hardware.
Great job bud
The 620 side cover you can mount your dogs to it.

That wrap handle is on my want list. Saw sounds great. How is the RPM.
So the piston in the 590 and 620 are the same, just different heads?
thx
Going to start running this more to break it in and wack off vs stihl 400?
Wow, I gave $500 for my 620. Guess I got a smoking deal!
Can I just swap a 590 cylinder and piston to a 620 cylinder piston ? with out porting? and machine work?
Yes
If your wife likes horses tell her to check out Working horses with Jim here on youtube!
Should I consider doing this to the Christmas saw?

how are these only 45mm? stroke?
