This is VERY good, the 90s goth in me would love to don this fit. How about spiffing up a middle-aged metalhead - there has to be a better way than all the 50 year olds trying to still look like 1987 Tommy Lee.

LITERALLY!!!!! I just took a break from reading one of my webtoons to scroll on UA-cam and the male lead's clothes look exactly like this guy's outfit😂 it's so frickin sexy I didn't realize webtoons made corporate goth a thing for me😂
Yep, that cements it. Bring back the vest as a wardrobe basic for both men and women. In the 90s, my favorite vest was pinstriped, and it looked so good with jeans.
Vests/waistcoats are where it's at!!! They don't work well on MY body type (I have an extremely large bust, so a properly fitted corset provides better support) but my husband is totally in to looking dapper and happy to let me dress him, so waistcoats/vests are a must!!
@courtneybrown516 have you ever tried one of those like underbust style vests (that are kinda somewhere between a traditional vest look and a harness/'corset belt' look)? I can't say for certain this would help at all as personally I'm a member of the ibtc lol (but with a disproportionately large ribcage so I still have issues with stuff fitting my chest but with none of the fun 😹) but I figure there's enough chance it could help that I may as well mention it so maybe you can enjoy the dapper vest look too 💖 there's few things more satisfying than finding a way to make a look you love actually work for your body!
Some crushed velvet details would of been the perfect accessory items for a corp goth aesthetic... Maybe some new fabrics to look out for when shopping for new pieces 🤔
As a goth, I can say that the galaxy is, in fact, very goth, it's also metal. And that tie was the perfect choice, blood tone red brocade is beautiful. I would love to see you do pastel goth or rainbow goth as well, since this was so well executed. Oh wow, hello accidental culture war in the replies! I'm not generally here to stoke fires, but I feel the need for immolation. The galaxy is VERY GOTH, and metal. If you look at a galaxy print and see a meme, you are missing out on some serious wonder, my dude. Black holes, star nurseries, nebulae, double binary systems, asteroids, billions of miles of darkness, and unknown. How much more goth can you get than exploding stars and spaghettification? Goth is an attitude that picks up the outcasts, goth is not defined by what you wear, be it black, red, green, rainbows or pastels, and being exclusionary isn't part of the goth attitude, babes, that's baby goth thinking.
Although it might be true that galaxy print can be goth, I think the fact that it was SOOO popular in the early 2010s just makes it look passé and funny. Now I usually don’t care about trends and I think anyone should wear any style any year, galaxy print is just one of those things that makes me laugh / cringe about our past fashion trends. Early 2010s style has some funny ones.
Tip from an alt dude: That look is fantastic and I adore it, but for those who really want to commit to the goth style, any dark gem-tone cravat, ascot, or puff tie with a subtle pattern would also be STUNNING. Red is most common and purple is to die for, but blues and greens can work if they're very dark. 👍✨ (Also I'd probably go with a different set of shoes, but thats just a personal thing. The outfit really is amazing.)
I think you can just never go wrong with plain black leather brogues, preferably lace up boots to give that extra Victorian nostalgia. (The two-tone felt more jazzy.) But my philosophy when it comes to my own corp gothness is to shop mainstream basics (I'm lazy lol) and style it until the combination is giving "give me a raise before I hex you". Very true with the dark jewel tone accents though! 🖤

"Goth" as some people know it is almost a rebirth or appreciation for the late Victorian style, which in itself is a bit of a Renaissance of the Gothic age (since early and mid had more Georgian elements which is sometimes extended to Victoria's uncle William IV)
Similar to how the Renaissance was a artistic rebirth of the Classical Era inspired by Ancient Greece and Rome
but as some people think of Late Victorian today has elements from the early 1900s, which would go more into the early Edwardian Era just before WWI
Which also fits the whole death and macabre aspects since the Victorians romanticized Tuberculosis, and Victoria herself was in a constant state of mourning after the death of Prince Albert in 1861, and famously wore black the rest of her life until her passing in 1901
and famous horror novels such as Mary Shelley's _Frankenstein_ in 1818 (which would be more so late Georgian)
