- Steve Fisher from Yamaha presents the DTX542K electronic drum kit. Yamaha laser-analyzed real drum strokes to fine-tune the response of the DTX542K's triggers. Cymbal muting, natural cymbal swell, and snare rolls sound smoother and more natural than ever. And the DTX502 drum module gives you 50 kits to play with, plus cool practice features that make it fun to sharpen your skills.

I just got the six piece version of this kit from Sweetwater at Gearfest. so far, I'm loving the silicone pads. and the editing is pretty good. so is the custom click track
Whatever sample that was on the crash in the Japan kit has me laughing
I got excited when I saw this video...til I saw who was in it. no offense to steve fisher, I saw at least a dozen vids of him on yamaha and roland kits and he's a really good drummer..I'm just a really big fan of NDV
Same. I always get more excited for the reviews, and get more hooked with reviews from Nick. He's such a good drummer and just seems like a nice guy. :)
+DarkDrift0r mmm. I know that Alesis has the mesh heads but yamaha has their silicone pads which rival the mesh heads. So i believe your wrong about yamaha coming out with mesh heads. The yamahas are very good ekits. Its all a matter of preference. This debate about who sounds better has always been opinion i have played both and prefer yamaha so there you go.
Plus Steve's toupee is super distracting.
I. Just. Love. Love. Love. Your. Videos! You drum like I like. I guess I wish I had the 542. I'm just gittin' back into it. Gone from being a drummer for almost fifty years ago! Sold my kit for a camera in '71. Just recently, I bought a used 540 kit with the 500 module to practice in my condo. But would love to connect my iPad to it for the app and/or for background songs. Is this possible? Nice lighting on your set. Your Buddy Rich Fast man.
Is there a midi input or output on that drum set
will the app be available for Android
Did this guy used to work for Roland, or were they sweet water demo vids I was watching? He seems really familiar.
Just confirmed my own question, he used to work for Roland lol
It says it has 12 inputs. Where? Looking at the image below of the back of the module, I only see 11 inputs, and that doesn't even seem to cover a basic kit setup, let alone headphones and aux in.

I'm trying to mimic my acoustic kit. It has 5 cymbals, hi hats, 3 toms, bass and a snare. That would be 12 inputs. Is this module able to support all of that?
there's an extra input via the kick pedal. the headphones and aux in are on the front of the module
Why only an apple app download, surely they could have made it also work for Android downloads
This kit should come with the real hihat instead of that hockey puck
I don't care for the sound. It's too much like my really old RY10 with some more dynamics. I know the sound module is the entry model, so I think the I/O parts is not so good.
Aaahhh!!!!!!
Amazing! Only squirrely, goofball "vintage" fools would be against this tech. lol.
Acoustic drums sound very bad.
Sorry these don't sound as good as Roland..They sound very electronic..
you need to tweak a little bit
