Honestly I think it's my favorite console too. That or maybe the DS. The Wii has the best party/local multiplayer games, and overall the games are just a really fun and unique experience not like the others. I remember sometimes using it to watch UA-cam videos on my TV screen too. The quality may not have been as good as the other consoles we have now but it provided fun times nonetheless.
When it comes to motion control on the Wii, the closest thing on the market before it was air mice and light guns. It can't be understated how good the motion control effect was with the Wiimotes and sensors upon their release in 2007. In addition to being the defining characteristic of the Wii (it certainly wasn't the graphics!) it was also the key marketing benefit for casual gamers for a long time. Especially when combined with solid first-party titles with rich motion support like Mariokart 7, Wii Sports, etc. Great video and channel by the way :)
Come for the games, stay for the modding…however the WiiU has a bit of an edge due to the higher USB compatibility rate (OG wii can only do 32gig USB’s)
@@MrKevinritsema good for you, I however havnt figured out how to format anything higher than 32gigs to be fat32 without finding a dead end or a buncha red herrings
Wii was the console that everyone had for the novelty, then the novelty wore off and it collected dust sitting next to a Playstation 3 or xbox 360. Now in early 2020s it's seeing a resurgence due to homebrew and good 1st party titles it had. Plays gamecube too which is a plus for many as well.
I was a Junior in college when the Wii came out and I still think it is overall the best console. The fact that I can easily emulate previous systems as well only adds to it. There was no system that brought everybody together like the Wii. Non gamers, and PC gamers, and parents all played together.
I was 26 years old when the Wii came out. Yeah I wasn't a kid anymore but it was fun. I had that and the xbox 360 for that generation. Did the job. It's 2023 And I still got the Wii hooked up and play Wii Sports Resort and a few other games. The Light gun games are fun as well. I find myself playing the Wii more than the Switch these days. @@codezero7981 Yeah it is. They had two light gun games for it right? I had one of them and the house of the dead. well I still do. I wish the Wii Motes could be used for everything ha
It's worth it, but probably not as good as you remember. I'm just getting into it again for the shooters, the gun doesn't work as well as I remember. Still good fun tho.
Mine froze to death, but the moment I could get my hands on a new one, I grabbed it. Netted me 3 free games, another wiimote and a ProController, and spare cables with that purchase.
Good video! The thing with Wii is it has some good games but aside from Wii sports and light gun style games the motion controls were just a straight downgrade from standard controls, and I hated them. I have tried to play Mario Galaxy 1 but I can't, the motion controls bother me too much. Not to mention cause pain in my wrist. Some games like DK Country Returns they weren't too bad, but still worse than a standard controller. These games should have had an option for the Wii pro controller. Would have made them so much better.
Depends on if you prefer the Gamecube or WiiU library. Don't bother with the Family edition or Mini. WiiU has better capability in emulation but many are starting to fail due to defective chips.
It’s the Hynix chip specifically that is super prone to failure. That’s why I’m riding my Wii U to death before I grab a Wii again. I basically made it so that it would autoboot into Wii mode. At least then I can pretend I have a Wii.
Ik the ps3 had motion controls to a bad point, or even the gameboy color, and some games like kirby tilt n tumble only used the gyroscope to play the game
