I got very wholesome vibes from this video. I'm pleased you got some purchases that were unique to the trip. Talk about an incredible souvenir.
Guitars and japan? best content my man 💚
I wanna go back lol
@@BaenaCarcosa i feel you 😆
Japan is a country not a continent. I don't care if Japan is the best country though, not going all the way there just to buy a guitar.
Wait, if Japan were a continent and you bought a guitar in Japan, are you buying a guitar incontinent? My incontinence level it's... it's..... OVER 9000!!!
One of my dream guitars is an Edwards Mikio Fujioka 7, the signature of one of the other Babymetal guitar players who's no longer with us, the one with the white pickups and the Floyd.
You make travelling to Japan look so fun :)
should have talked to me, played that one when I was in Japan bar
@@oranstakeover8981 I'm too broke now that I'm in college and I prioritize going Ibanez for everything lol
But daaaaaamn how does it feel IRL??
A sparkly pink 7 string guitar. Definitely unique… 🤔🤘🏻
Awesome vid! Some stunning guitars and congrats on the new 7 bro! So sick! It's cool that you took the time to share this with us. Thank you
That Takayoshi Ohmura 7 string from ESP is my DREAM GUITAR! He’s my absolute favourite player of all time! How much did everything cost in the end with shipping/taxes/customs etc because I’be always wanted to get a guitar from Japan! They have so many LTD/Esp/Edwards guitars that you can’t get anywhere else, particularly the snapper models (what this shape is!)
True on the volume knob issue. In BabyMetal, they play about chest high and seem to be playing above the neck pickup the whole time.
Great video mate🎉 getting me excited again for my trip next month
Hell yeah! I wish I didn't have to leave lol
Great stuff. Thanks for the experience. Your story was phenomenal, Japan is truly amazing.
Definitely an awesome guitar! I was actually there in Japan at the same time as you and saw some of the places you did, kinda sad I never got to meet you lol, I’m a huge fan of your content
This is top tier content.
Also I'm loving the cinematography
What a great experience , I was drooling over here I was like WOW < WOW with all those guitars, you are super cool nice video bro !
Actually heading there in May and also plan to hit up Ochanomizu. You're timing is frickin on point. Thanks for the preview man! 🙌
Nice video! I went to Japan last year and I also went to some of these guitar stores... but I thought the price of Japanese guitars would be lower than their value on the american market, and in the end I think they were a little expensive... The ESP store in Tokyo was one of the best I've been to, and the museum they have there is really cool... but as I already have a few ESPs, and I couldn't find any used ones that I wanted at a good price, I ended up not getting any guitar :/
I plan to go to Japan this summer, and one of the souvenirs and items I plan to bring back is indeed an electric guitar that can be only had from Japan. I can't wait to see Ochanomizu and all the guitar shops in their glory!
gorgeous guitar. Great find, has some super modern specs
pink glitter finish and gold hardware looks so sick. hell yeah
Awesome video!! The Ohmura custom twinkle pink is my dream guitar! So jealous!
If I go to Japan, instead of visiting stores for shopping I would love to visit the factories and workshops instead. And Seki city for knives etc :D
If I go back I’d love to see Fujigen for sure
@@BaenaCarcosa agreed sir ooh to tour the factory of dreams 🤤
Man the algorithm is strong. Going to Japan in a couple weeks. I know what I’ll be doing on one of the days of my trip! Thanks for the info
This is so fire dude!! 🔥
congrats on the Japan trip!
That Alexi V is insane
You've reminded me of the coolest thing. When I was in Japan I must have stumbled onto that guitar store street without noticing and walked into a rehearsal store with a cafe. The best idea I wish was a common thing elsewhere
Awesome video! Lots of cool guitars, lots of cool sights. All the stage-used Babymetal stuff was one of the highlights of the vid for me - particularly since when I've seen them in North America they had a different backing band with pretty normal instruments. Neat to see what gets used by the "proper" Kami band in Japan.
Since you mentioned the pronunciation of Ochanomizu and not sure if you were getting it right - you're really close. The 'cha' portion (茶) is actually the word for tea and the 'a' portion is pronounced more closely to a broad 'a' sound (like the 'a' in 'father' or 'hah') than it is a long 'i.' It's close enough that I imagine everyone would understand what you meant if you said it, though.
One of the most refreshing guitar content videos I’ve seen in a while. I’m not jealous at all of that Edwards purchase 🙄. That guitar has been on my list for years. I bought my first Edwards guitar last summer (Syu’s 7 string Snapper) and that neck thickness definitely took me by surprise as well. Even with small hands, the neck is surprisingly playable. It’s easily one of my favorite guitars. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy the shit out of it!
I just got the full set of Dai dark! Excited to read!
Lovely lovely lovely, really enjoyed this from you!
That first guitar store u went to in Japan is so awesome and the staff were so nice when I went there and they were playing the Bochi the rock opening as well😂
So happy to see you so happy in Japan!! It's also in my bucket list. Also amazing video, I hadnt realized how cool it would be to see guitar stores in Japan!!
BTW, were those brolls filmed with an osmo pocket? Quality and steadiness is fantastic!!
Thank you! Definitely go if you can. Yeah all the stuff in Japan was filmed with the DJI Pocket 2. It’s what I take with me on tours and travel
Absolutely love my MIJ Jackson Rhodes pro 🤘🏽
I’m thinking about going with my oldest son next year. Better start saving guitarmoney, it seems, lol. Happy NGD, enjoy and thanks for the awesome video!
I have a few ESPs, and I love em. Their story is pretty cool, all out of Japan. In 1975, Hisatake Shibuya opened a shop called Electric Sound Products (ESP) in Tokyo, Japan. HIs parts were so good he started building full guitars and the rest is history. I've always been impressed by the cheapest ESP I have, the one I use in all my music and vids lately. The low end ESP guitars like the one I have are EFFING AWESOME. You can adjust everything and set it to almost complete perfection. Compared to some other brands I have, there is no comparison on that front. I have almost no need to even use my other guitars at all except that two more are also ESPs. lol
Sick AF Andrew!
Takayoshi Ohmura has multiple ESP signature models which were basically all the ones on the wall (Twinkle pink, Gold, Honey Gold, and Pink Monster) The Red 8 string on the wall next to the BM 9 string, was Isao Fujita's signature Raiden 7 who also played in Babymetal. The other guitar on the wall are 6 and 7 string "Burgundy Mist" Snapper guitars of Mikio Fujioka who died Jan 2018 from injuries sustained from a fall. Ohmura, who has all of his own models, would play Mikio's Guitar (along with Mikio's Kemper Profiler) at all BM shows along with other events. He is currently playing for pop singer A-MEI. Unfortunately these guys haven't played with Babymetal since January 2023. They now use mid players from Cos Player band Galactic Empire and a drummer who changes band more than underwear.
I just checked this street out last week and it was legit amazing. Big shout out to Jay at Big Boss for being a real OG.
Funny you brought up Ishibashi because I had just found them out the day prior and I'm amazed at how I can get a used Edwards Horizon in great condition shipped to my door for less than a used MH-1000 in the states.
Wow this is awesome 🔥
that gundam is dope as hell. Also guitars pretty cool too😂🤘
Awesome video! Any chance you would be able to detail the shipping process?
That’s so funny, My Damnation is still one of the few first riffs I’ll play when I pick up a seven string.
Damn dude, did i run into you on this trip? lol... we almost ran the same route . I went to Yokohama for the Gundam, spend alot of time in Akiba and directly went to the ESP store for the Pink Alexi. Bonus, my name is Erick 🤣. I regret not buying the guitar, but I had so much shit on me that I would have needed to ship it for sure. Definitely going back for the Alexi and also to try a Burny.
Would love to see a short list of some of the Japan exclusive brands/models you would've considered buying as a metal enjoyer, so I could also browse while here!
Hey Andrew, it would have been fun to meet you at Big Boss when I went over a week ago. back home in Australia, ESP guitars are so expensive and i bought a fantastic E-II Eclipse Quilted Maple for almost half the price i would have paid. In Osaka now, so i may follow your recommendation. Cheers !
Tone sounds mighty fine ;)
After many years, still have my made in Japan Wizard neck IBZ RG570. Got it at a pawn shop $250 years ago. Solid , never goes outta tune
Awesome purchase my friend. What was the shipping/shipping costs like? Planning on going to Japan soon. May have to pick up a guitar, or two.
I just got an Alexi pinky from Kurosawa. The service was next level and it plays amazing
I got my 7 string ESP Baby Metal Arrow from Big boss...And at an amazing price that I would have never gotten here in the USA...The japanese guitars are such good quality.
Maaan I wish customer service was that amazing in Mexico. Hope I can make the trip too and live the experience soon!
Ishibashi and G Club in Shibuya were amazing too.
Bought my Jackson Juggernaut USA model in Japan 5 years ago. Best purchase. And staff are very nice
yes, always go to big boss, very cool place and people that work there.
Dammit bro, Thank you so much for this video. You have no idea. My number place to go, I will one day. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have a black and yellow LTD Alexi 600 i got in 2006, haven’t been able to get the ESP version but it’s on my list
I can't be the only one who wants to see what collectibles you guys bagged. Fun vid, thanks for sharing dude.
I go to the Ochanomizu stores all the time, there are a few good stores in Shibuya too.
which do you think sounds more crushing and feels better to play. the Jackson gold sparkle or this Edwards? nice video thanks
I'm from Vancouver as well, just got from Japan 3 days ago, got myself a bass there half of Canadian price lol
That's awesome that you took the trip and all but what's the total cost of the trip and a guitar as opposed to just getting a nice guitar local
That’s so rad to see that sound come from that pink guitar
i have a g-lp lpc clone from grassroots i got from the ishibashi in shibuya, plays like a dream, and got a killer deal on it
recently went to ochanamizu! wanted to grab one of those fernandes zo-3 guitars so bad
There are also Ibanez spot models exclusive for Europe and U.S. as well. Wired Guitarist and Killerburst Guitars had their runs of limited rg 652 and 752's (I actually managed to get two of these). Japan has some sick exclusive finishes and models though.
And also, thanks for doing this video man. I'm actually planing on going to Japan next year so it's cool to see how bad this might turn out for my wallet, lol :D
That pink guitar is amazing nice purchase. 😳
What was that riff at 17:40? I absolutely loved it 🤘🏻
Galactic Pegasus - Smashing
Damn, I usually don’t love PRS but that fan fret 7 was sick.
Sick guitar and awesome video! How much did it cost you to ship back home?
About $200 and then another $200 in import and duty fees haha. Sucks but I wasn’t about to try to take it on a plane with me
@@BaenaCarcosa yeah the plane would've been really tough. It's 100% worth it though bc you can't get that in North America!!
Bro I'm so jealous you got to see the Gundam Unicorn statue!
YES.
Yo what amp is the green one ??? lime green / neon green is my favorite color
Were the Pokémon tuners available in the stores in Tokyo ? I’m going next month and would love those .
Most likely, I just happen to notice them in Osaka
When I tried ordering a MIJ ESP (E-II / Standard), wait time in US is almost a year. When the sales rep at my local store, and Sweetwater told me the same thing. I ended up just buying a prestige Ibanez w/ 2 month wait. ESP just doesn't like selling Internationally besides LTD and US Custom. Guess I gotta just pack my bags.
I'm going to Japan late this year, I'm hoping to pick up another RG8 prestige or if they have the 9 string equivalent that released a few years back, did you see many 8/9 strings whilst shopping around? I could certainly see a lot of 7's in your vid!
Definitely not many! Only the one babymetal 9 string, and 8s were very few and far between (seemed like Strandbergs were more common for 8s)
@@BaenaCarcosa thanks dude🤘🏻
This is seriously one of the best videos i think you've ever made, Andrew. And we gotta see more of that pink 7 stringer.
I've been planning to hunt down a really cool guitar in Japan for a while, thinking Ibanez or a J - Strandy, I will get there one day - I don't live far from Japan but just haven't gotten there yet! 😂😂😂
Go! There is so much cool shit
the big esp version of that baby metal had a kill switch where the 2nd tone was when you looked at it
I was considering trying to pick up a guitar while I was there this passed week. I wish I’d had the money.
I have 2 guitars made in Japan and they are the best ones I have :) Ibanez J-Custom and a PGM301.
I hope that by the time I have enough money, the Alexi Edwards are still available at the same price as now. I love the Alexi guitars but the ESPs are too expensive.
How expensive was the shipping back of the guitars? I'm actually planning to do the same thing in the near future.
It was approx $200/250 per guitar give or take
@@BaenaCarcosa It cost me $200.00 to ship mine from there as well.
How did you ship the guitar, as a normal shipment or did the shop ship it as a business? How did you handle shipping costs and customs? I am interested just becuse I am planning to go to Japan in the future and would love to get a guitar back home. Thanks
I had mine shipped from there and it cost $200.00 via Fed Ex shipping and customs got me for $72.00...Still not a bad deal sonsidering.
i've been wanting to do this for a long while now but i can only afford either a trip to jp or a guitar but not both :^ D
Really wier timing poast a video on this. Ive been looking at guitar shops over there (going in october). Any chance of a companion video just explaining the shipping side. Going from Bigboss's website im guessing you had to take it ot post office as they ont ship outisde of japan.
Sign: DO NOT TOUCH!!!
Andrew: *touches*
i love a 7 string with a full strat pickguard
DO A FULL VIDEO ON THIS PINK GUITAR.
Friday!
Check out Takayoshi Ohmura's solo work if you like the guitar. He has amazing stuff.
Gorgeous
Andrew you should do a cover of something from Boundaries PLEASE. Preferably the song My Body Is a Cage.
Already have done exactly that!
Does anyone know if they’ve announced a winner for the majesty 8 giveaway?
Jair Reyes is the winner and has been contacted accordingly!
@@BaenaCarcosa hm, I haven’t gotten an email
That Takayoshi Ohmura 7string though...also disappointed that you dont know him. He's a beast
I do now though!
@@BaenaCarcosa can't wait to see you guys in June in Sacramento
Hey Andrew, what’s an anime I should be watching right now? Crunchyroll to Netflix, I want to start a new one. Call me casual, but I loved blue eyed samurai.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is one of my favs so I’d always recommend that
@@BaenaCarcosa cheers from Ontario, I’ll check that out this evening. Been meaning to give FMA a try.
why do they put wires through the guitars?
You pay my plane ticket and I'm there....lol!
you should put a kill swicth on a dummy knob bro..
I have a huge soft spot for the “lawsuit” era guitars when they were making often superior copies of American guitars.
EMG pickup is best pickup.
I always wanted to see that Gundam
