CV series is only rated for 30c ambient temperature, and you're supposed to derate by 10% if the ambient temperature (or temperature inside case if mounted with fan inside) goes above that. @Gamers Nexus maybe factor temperature in your calculations if you include such power supplies in comparisons.

The CV series are group regulated so they have piss poor voltage regulation

You don't want to see the CV series, they are awful. The CX series are far better units. Basically any Corsair PSU with a "V" in the name should be avoided - they are all 10+ year old designs and things have moved on a lot in that time for PSU's - double forward is a big improvement, and the CX being a fairly budget PSU with LLC is actually very impressive.

For voltage regulation, consider measuring load step regulation: how quickly the rail voltage recovers and stabilizes from a 10-90% stepped load.

Would be extremely helpful to compare a 550 W PSUs with a cheap 750 W PSUs @ 550 W that might run at its max efficiency. These percentage charts can already be found everywhere.

Absolutely. Record the current spikes and voltage droops from regular surges in gpu usage with test equipment in line with the 12V system. Or just use the test equipment to execute a predetermined torture test with huge swings in current (maintaining distance from OCP, OPP, etc.) and just absolutely beat the shit out of the psu.

PSUs that come with a case, like the NZXT H1 or the one Lian Li bundles with their O11 Dynamic Mini, would be nice to see, so buyers can tell if the combo is a good idea. And please keep mentioning the suppliers for each unit, maybe even do a comparison of different branded PSUs that come from the same supplier, like comparing a higher end EVGA unit (supplied by Super Flower) to the equivalent Super Flower model.

7:18 To clarify: double forward topology refers to primary side of power supply. DC-DC or group regulation refer to secondary side of power supply. Hence those are unrelated, you can have either combination. It does happen of course that double forward PSUs in this test are indeed DC-DC.

I would love to see a roundup of 'with the case' supplies - the CM Masterwatt, TT Litepower, Antec Eco, etc etc etc. Most of them are complete junk (Antec used to be an OK Seasonic OEM) and it seems people still arent getting the message, still, that they arent up to close to what they are rated.
Also all your tests only tested LOAD regulation - it would be great to see you get a variac (maybe even an noise injector) and test LINE regulation (ie how does it handle your power going from 130V to 110V, which are still within spec, or even a brownout to 90V). Some test of 240V efficiency would be great too, i have no doubt you have a 240V outlet you can test from. Efficiency at 240 and 120 are VERY different (generally much better at 240V).

I second this, but for the budget cases that come with 250-400W PSUs. Sometimes it is nice to just buy a simple case with simple PSU just to slap in a Pentium or Athlon for a super basic PC.

I would like to see a round-up of a few of the highest-end PSUs on the market to get a good picture of the range between the highest end and the low end. I also think you should continue mentioning the OEMs precisely because from a consumer protection point of view if any issues consistently come up in the product stack of any given brand, they could be using multiple suppliers; however, if issues come up consistently within the OEM, you can call them out. From a value perspective, many consumers (even myself at times) are subject to the "Noctua effect" where a brand is believed to never do wrong, and it leads to a "no one ever got fired for buying IBM" mindset, so you gravitate towards those products, even if they aren't necessarily the best choice. In the PSU world, that is Seasonic. I have seen so many people recommend non-Seasonic branded PSUs because Seasonic is the OEM. I'm not expecting you to find some spectacular garbage Seasonic PSUs, but we know other companies make outstanding PSUs, and it would be good to put it out there to clear the air.

@@DeathWishes677 problem is, even if you have enough high quality power, the plug standards are changing with 16-pin plugs which don't exist on anything but the newest PSUs.

@@DeathWishes677 good call. That should protect you from transient loads (peak power usage) on your gpu and not shut down like 750 and 850 watt units tend to do with rtx 30 and 40 series.
When using higher end parts, it's best to over provision your power supply to keep peak wattage from tripping opp on psus.

It's in the top bracket of quality modern PSUs. You purchased wisely!
Just a heads up: Although 750W is enough power for any available GPU (bar the new 3090 Ti), high-end 30 series cards such as the RTX 3090 can trip the Over Current Protection (OCP) in some games. Also known to occur with some 850W PSUs and many Seagate units, even though they are of high quality. This has to do with the 'high-transient loads/spikes' of high-end RTX 30 series cards, which could momentarily push the PSU over the thresholds and trip the protections. At a maximum, an RTX 3080 (320W) SHOULD be fine for your unit, though YMMV. Anything below that wattage, including an RX 6900XT and below, should work well and for years to come. Two friends of mine have Enermax Revolution DF 850W (excellent PSUs) in their systems. One has a 3080 Ti from Zotac which has had no issues thus far, however the other has a reference RTX 3090, which needed a small undervolt not to crash with COD: CW/Warzone.

You guys should also measure the fan noise of these, load normalized.
PSU fan is the loudest unit in my rig and I have 8 fans(2 120mm for GPU, case fan swapped, 2 120mm forCPU, 3 140mm and 1 120mm for case) exclude PSU fan. Having semi passive mode PSU absolutely helps.

Signed. It's anecdotal, but around 2012 got a Corsair CX which shortly after developed unbearable fan bearing noise. Sent it for an rma, got the replacement, after a couple of weeks same fan bearing noise. Said "screw it", got a Seasonic which to this day is powering my second system and is dead silent.

@@D4L41L4M4 Mine was a 500w not even 80+ bronze certified unit and that thing was freaking loud. I didn't notice it being that loud until I start swapping out each fans in my case with Arctic fans.
I got a 850w EVGA G5 which was made by FSP, that PSU has passive mode so fan only kicks in at 20% load. But the moment it kicks in it's multiple times louder than my entire system.
I RMAed that thing and got the exact same problem so they upgraded mine into a G6 which is a Seasonic unit. The passive fan now kicks in at 40% and I've never reached that load so can't test out if that'll happen.

I'd love to see the evga 750w G5 reviewed. I am pushing a tiachi 6800xt and an r7 5800x. I think the wattage is a little low for that gpu/cpu combo, but I haven't had any issues this far. I'm wondering if bumping to an 850w would see any benefits, or if the 750w will stand the test of time being pushed hard

Honestly you can never go wrong with seasonic IMO as they are specialized in power supplies. I have asus PSU but if I remember correctly, it's actually made by seasonic. And it's been working really well. Seems like very high quality to me.

If I'm right, Corsair buys most of their psu components from Seasonic, which has a 10 year warranty. I just purchaced a Seasonic 850 , haven't got it yet. From what I understand, they are the goat. Love to have feedback. Ciao.

I ended up buying the BitFenix Whisper M 850w and am running a 6950xt OC and a 5950x. Basically my setup calls for a 1,000w psu but it's running perfectly with an 850w psu.
Bitfenix whisper is my recommendation for sure!

Yeah, a lot of people don't know that PSUs output less over time. I can't count how many people would ask me if I knew what to do about a black screen when they play games when everything had been working great for years. It's almost always the PSU going bad. Works great in Windows, but launch a certain game, and BAM... black screen. And then it gets worse after that.

I have an EVGA BQ 600 in my system for over 5 years now it has worked extremely well zero issues and powering a lot of hardware, an M2, an SSD, + 3 3TB HDs, it's quiet and solid.

Please include testing of transient loads! Seasonic got screwed, as you know, with the large transient loads from Nvidia GPUs tripping their protection. Testing with GPUs appropriate for the PSU's power output will give some pass/fail real-world data.

Thing is, the problem with Seasonic Prime PSUs isn't exactly in transients, transients trip OCP, latching off the PSU (you can't start it right back up), Prime doesn't latch off, it's a design flaw. The GPU feeds back the noise (ripple) on the 12V v-sense lead (one of the pins on 24-pin connector supplying the voltage reading back to the PSU so it can compensate the drop), and Seasonic haven't thought about filtering said noise, which results in the PSU's logic being thrown off the rails. The only way to reproduce said noise without the GPU on hands is by using a signal generator but they're even more expensive than consumer GPUs.

So happy to see this, and with such depth and detail. It seems like power supplies are one of the most, if not the most neglected component in pcs. Motherboards, CPUs, and graphics cards seem to be the most covered everywhere else, and you guys do great work with cases, fans, and heatsinks, so I’m glad power supplies are finally getting a spotlight. Information and reviews on them are so hard to find. When I took a computer to a local guy to diagnose it (ended up being a dead motherboard) where he nitpicked, bashed, and condescended every component of my build including the power supply where I heard for the first time the alien words like “ripple” and “droop.” My first thought was, “you motherfu-“ but my immediate next thought was, “wait, what? How do you know? How am _I_ supposed to know?”
In short this is greatly appreciated and desperately needed info, and couldn’t come from a better channel.

Like everyone else THANK YOU for this PSU work. My house has 4 gamers and since those systems are older I have had to replace several PSU's lately. ALL of them were sourced from EVGA and its the one thing that scares me the most about building. (done about 6-7 system builds now) There is so much noise on this subject it makes it hard to really get a grip on what is important and what we should be looking for. To be honest I care less about efficiency rather I care about component longevity and don't want to see my 80$-200$ PSU take out my 4000$ system because it had a bad day. Again love your work and thank you for helping to make this hobby better for everyone.

I'd be interested to see how sfx PSUs hold up against their regular atx counterparts. I love SFF PCs and am wondering if I perhaps give up efficiency or quietness by buying a small power supply. Atm I'm using an hdplex 400w ac-dc psu, which is very quiet in terms of fan noise, but an absolute nightmare with coil whine.

Hi Steve. When I was putting my current system together, I looked for the most upvoted PSU in my country (Egypt). Needless to say, given the financial state here, the most important aspect in any product is basically value for money. After a very long search I went with the Bitfenix Whisper 750 80+Gold Modular PSU. It has not been a bad experience so far, but am really curious on how such a decently priced product (at least where I live) puts up against competition. I have also paired it with a Bitfenix Case (Dawn TG) as it was one of the very few cases that would support a 280mm AIO (X62 in this case that I bought based on your recommendations). Thanks so much for such a fantastic effort that's put for the sake of the consumer in this pretty huge industry that would be otherwise much more confusing. Cheers.

As someone who have been building PCs for more than 25 years, I would love to see the "80+ white - W1 and W2" models from EVGA.
Where I live those are basically the best seller budget PSU.
They are also the only known brand selling around this part at that price point. Of course I would also like the top tiers from Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax, DeepCool and Cougar.

I don't see them get a whole lot of attention review-wise, I'm currently using a 750W 80-Plus Platinum version right now in my build (which is half a year old), but I usually see the PSU getting three or four stars on Newegg. I'd like to know what might be responsible for that.

Bought the Be Quiet System Power 9 600W a year ago at only 40$. In my opinion it can't be beat. Best on the market at it's price range. It's quite literally inaudible at 12 dB. Paired it with a Thermaltake Riing Silent cooler (13 dB).. spun it up and placed my ear next to it. Felt the cool breeze, but not a single damn sound to be found. All silent. Best purchase I ever made.

The G2 and G3s were Superflower Leadex 2 and 3 units - both superb. The G4 was a cwt unit if i remember rightly, and i can't remember who makes the g5, but neither of the latter ones have anything like the reputation that the G2 and G3 units had. This is the big problem with the PSU market, you can't actually trust a brand becuase the oem often changes between models, and sometimes there are more than 1 oem making the same model. So reviews of each model are very important for making the right decision. Look at Corsair. I would rather have poored petrol into my pc and lit it than fit an older Corsair PSU, but these days the CX are excellent base models, and the RMx (2019 onwards) models are really really good. They changed oem, tweaked designs and came back with really good units where once they were famous for being hot garbage.

@@malphadour I remember when 10 years ago, i was talked out of getting a CWT-built Corsair by a store rep. They just said "horrible coil whine".
Got myself a Bequiet L7-630 back then, which was a little risk, given it's built by HEC rather than FSP, but reviewers didn't find anything too badly wrong with it. It lived for 9 years, until the 5VSB line gave up. Was powering a 160W overclocked Phenom II X6 and a GTX295 for the first few years of its life.

I build and repair a ton of PCs at work and these are some of my most reliable PSUs: Fractal Design Ion+ 660P, EVGA 650 P5, be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W, and the Seasonic FOCUS PX-650. I'd love to see a head-to-head test against these good platinum ~650W units as I think they are the best for most use cases.

Hey GN, long time fan of the channel here (but had pretty low DB until now xD). I'd love to see some testing of both Cougar and lower end Thermaltake power supplies, specifically the Cougar BXM 700 and Tt Litepower RGB. When i first bought a cheap Tt years ago for my RX480, it gave all sorts of crashing problems to intricately coloured screens. After returning it and buying a Corsair RMx, it was def to do with that power supply. Steered clear of Tt since but would like to know if they're worthwhile, especially since EVGA, Seasonic and Fractal power supplies here in Australia are either non existent or extremely expensive. Hopefully you can involve this in your testing suite in the future.

I'm glad to see this finally come to fruition, over the years since the 90s I have had power supply failures in computers I've put together and its always been hard to get any objective data about quality, especially when dealing with the more budget friendly end of the market, the information from manufacturers is, er, fanciful at best and opinions on forums might as well be random unless you see a major trend. At least with some consistant testing we might hope that in time a reasonable judgement at the best buy in a group might at least be possible and lead to a reasonable chance the PSU will last - given that it is the one PC component that is most likely to move from build to build.

I always tend to recommend EVGA G2, G3 or GQ series typically around 650W, since I have an assumption that those are good PSU at different pricepoints, and I have only had good experiences. One thing I really hope you do take a look at is some of the budget EVGA units; EVGA does not send any of their budget units to reviewers, so given your resources, I'm hoping that you may be able to shed more light on them. @@GamersNexus The BR and BP, mainly. Essentially the "lower end than BQ/B5 but still independently regulated" units. Honestly rather difficult to keep track of, since they have so many SKUs. They appear for such a low price so often, they claim a full suite of protections... but at the same time, there isn't really any information on it, aside from a teardown of the BR which raises more questions than it answers.
Regardless of what you test, I'm really happy that you are getting into power supplies. This is a component that gets overlooked so often, so it's great to have people such as yourself dispelling a lot of the misconceptions that people have.

The G6 models are a good return to form for EVGA, they are a seasonic unit and are better than the Superflowers in some ways (just becuase they are a 5 year newer design) but don't quite match the legendary ripple levels of the G2, however they are still very good and a hell of a lot better than the FSP units.

I have a couple of ideas for your consideration:
- Seeing that they are flooding the market, it would be interesting to see how the cheaper end perform, namely offerings from Redragon, Gamdias, Cougar...etc. I am hoping to see a hidden gem amongst these brands and how well they can communicate if they have a faulty unit.
- CoolerMaster MWE series. They served me well over the years, but in my experience they have not-so-good fans - also offerings from Antec, Bitfenix, TT.
- The lesser known Corsair offerings like CV and CS series. Should we really stay away from them?
- Aorus AP750 and AP850, GN displays the unit in case reviews, and I bought one myself because of that - aside from the obvious reason that the market in my country back in 2020 had no good PSUs offered and everything was out of stock.
- Speaking of bad PSU fans, while I understand there are a million videos explaining how to disassemble a PSU and change the fan, maybe film one or two videos on how to do that - for the uninitiated? And when the benchmark chart is built and converged, maybe note if there is a unit with some weird or proprietary things we need to take care of - like an unusual fan measurement or some case locking mechanism that prevents repair or just makes it a hell lot more harder?
- Fan specs - if a PSU fan needs to be changed, what kind or what are the specs of that PSU fan? Can we get away with slapping a generic fan and call it a day or does it have to be a high end one with certain air pressure spec?

Cougar isn't historically a "cheaper" brand like the others you listed. They were almost as big as Antec. I don't know how they are today, but they used to make top tier parts.

@@mycosys nope, I bought the Aorus not the exploding P series - supposed to be a different design or third party manufacturer, and I did that in 2020 back when the market in my country either had these or the AX1200, and I am not putting a 1200W CPU in an R5 3600 + 1660S build. So far it has been serving me quite well and I am running way below the limits.
MWE series, back in the day I ran a 500W (or was it 600W?) version of that on an OC'd Q6600 to 3.4GHz for a number of years and it ran fine, the fan needed replacement though...

I have a unique suggestion: testing power supplies’ own temperature sensing/protection. I bought a Silverstone SX650-G SFX power supply and it would sporadically shut down on me; I discovered in a negative Newegg review that (allegedly) this PSU does not monitor its own temperature… instead the fan ramps up based on load. So if it’s actually hot in your case - which is common in small form factor cases, where you would put such an SFX power supply - the PSU will not adequately cool itself and will randomly shut down. I wound up replacing it with a Fractal Design Ion SFX power supply, also 650w, and haven’t had problems since.

I haven't come across a power supply with a noisy fan in the last decade. I don't even think I've found one that is even audible. There might have been a couple bottom bin supplies that were scratchy, but they were dead anyway. Dell full towers with the quick release supplies are kind of noisy, but those are 60mm server grade fans. (I have built, refurbished, troubleshooted hundreds if not a thousand systems in the last 10 years)

Yeah seasonic is more reputable but they don't have as many psus. I think every brand has at least one crap psu. But most brands psus like corsair, evga, msi, and so on use either cwt or seasonic. Most of those are good

The older S12II/M12II models are not recommened for new builds at all since they cant regulate voltage rails independently, and with the current deep sleep CPU states you would get crossloads that could put them in a bad situation, they also lack modern protection features afaik.

@Forward Go Actually this is not always the case. Seasonics manufacturing capacity is largely taken up by their oem manufacturing for 3rd parties. Whilst they design all their own units, they actually outsource a lot of their manufacturing - I was surprised that Steve didn't mention this in the review when it came to talking about who made that unit - a lot of the Focus models are outsourced, as were a lot of the S12 models.

I mean, PSUs were always so hard to choose. I always just kept going back to EVGA but I also always considered and recommended corsair and Seasonic ones. But that was always based on a blind belief their units are of a good quality. I can't really say I even understand the differences is their product stacks, especially EVGAs, like there's so many different "X amount of power, B something PSU like 650 b5, 650bq, 650bw, 650b, 650b2, some are BR... Etc, etc" and that exists for all tiers, it's so confusing. So I'd really want to ask you guys to help us on that matter, test as many PSUs as possible and maybe run an online Google docs chart? So we can reference all the tested models and maybe make sense of how the product lines work for the different manufacturers? Like maybe EVGA b2 PSUs are good bronze PSUs but the b5 range is not? Or the corsair cx is nice but maybe the vx isn't or something like that.

LOVE that you're noting where the PSUs are built by. That's usually opaque data, but e.g. so far Great Wall and Seasonic seem like solid manufacturers. And I know you've got some industry contacts-why not see if you can ask what they intend for 5Vsb re: OCP? All of these kinds of details are things I think your viewers appreciate. I do, certainly.
From here … more brands at a budget tier or next tier up for these brands? I lean toward the latter, but here's what I'd like to see for both:
For brands, how about CM, be quiet, Thermaltake, and … maybe some wildcards? Like how those Ventroo HSFs came out of nowhere to be quite competent. I expect the Thermaltake is gonna be kind of crap and CM/beQ to do all right. But we'll see?
Tier … a lot of folks have systems with some moderately high spec HW and they want to make sure they are going to reach for the evga G-series or similar Corsair or similar PSUs. Probably looking for 700-850W and 80+ Gold or better (yeah 80+ is crap and you explained why very well).
The real high-end stuff would be interesting sometime in the same way $300 type cases are sometimes interesting, but hardly as mainstream content. I mean it's fun sometimes to ask what do you get for your money with a high-end case, but most of us are buying cases at $70±10 or $130±20 price points, right? Similar for PSUs.

It has done very well in my key benchmarks:
1. Does not catch on fire.
2. Turns on when I press the power button.
3. When my PC breaks it's always something other than a bad PSU.

Great stuff! I would be interested in noise levels at typical loads (e.g. you mentioned 60% load as a typical gaming load ).
EDIT: It's particularly interesting in SFX modules I might add, because sff builds oftentimes stand on your desk and are thus perceived as louder at same noise output. My own (mostly) silent PC has a Corsair SF600 Gold built in, which is silent at idle but with some workloads becomes the loudest part in it (still very quiet, but noticable). I would have paid the extra 20 € for the SF600 Platinum, which is supposed to be quieter at loads, if I would have known beforehand.

I'm curious about the variation one might expect unit to unit. Basically - I'm curious whether some of the units tested here were just lucky / unlucky picks. Of course there will certainly be a degree of variation here, but I don't have the same sense of how much variation there will be in practice with PSUs like I do with CPUs or GPUs. If they're relatively rock solid, that's great to know, but makes cases where a power supply could have been rated silver, but was rated bronze instead even more interesting.
Having a sense of the typical +/- variation in key statistics like ripple and efficiency would be great, basically.
As far as different supplies to test though - I'm curious about the performance of some highly regarded supplies like Corsair HX series or Seasonic PX.
80+ Titanium units are really expensive, and maybe hard to justify for tests like this, but they're also interesting just because it seems like such an uncommon standard vs Platinum. The expense makes it hard to justify for personal builds too of course, and maybe testing would bear out that really Gold or Platinum is more than enough for most people, or maybe that there really is more to supplies that hit Titanium certification.

GameMax 850w on Amazon, I've had 2 and one has been going for almost 2 years and I had another die on me after 3 months. They absolutely refunded me though after asking what my system settings were. Hit or miss for me BUT customer service was excellent.

Yeah agree I have two of the GameMax RGB-850 from Amazon. Got them for $79.99 each and they are both doing well since May of 2021.

I opened one up, since Sohoo (the manufacturer) sent me a review sample. While they advertise a DC-DC LLC-R topology, it was in fact group regulated. I was not impressed, just based off that fact alone. While I have no business reviewing PSUs (no occilloscope, no professional tools), I would not expect the unit to meet most other advertised points either.

@@t4w1m94 mine failed on my HTPC when I slapped in a 3070 and left in the 2080 Super and set it to mine when I wasn't actively using it. Just straight shutdown, no magic smoke but she smelled a bit. Should have only been about 500w on the 12v rail.

@@t4w1m94 good to know thanks for the heads up and hopefully when they get all these power supplies tested we will have a wealth of knowledge to show which ones are good for the price or the ones that may be good from the what the manufacturer claims but once torn apart and tested show they are not.

I really needed and waited for this for a long time because it's so hard to find good reviews on these.
Because the reviews range widely from using it safely for 10 years to I build myself a homemade explosive for less than a 100 dollars.
Would love to see a more complete list next with like 100 or so power supplies which are the truely best budget powersupplies including some Chinese brands aswell

I think you need to get noise measurements (dB at 1 meter - C weighted?) for each PSU at various loads. I'm always struggling to find this type of data. It's very important for my builds that they are quiet. (At least until near full load.) Some PSUs, at low levels don't even turn the Fan on and therefore are silent. Features like that should be noted.

One of my main worries about reviews of budget power supplies, is I fully expect that some vendors are somewhat likely to swap components at a whim based on availability/cost with no transparency such as change in model number. I'm not sure how best to address this, but it may be worth keeping a careful eye out for this practice.

Thanks for helping me fix gaps in my knowledge I had no idea PSU's had different efficacies at different draws. I also recently watched the Liquid cooler Videos and I was under the Impression that the closed loop coolers were 100% liquid I didn't know they had a air bubble to worry about! Thanks for your hard work :)

Just purchased the CX650 M and am having that oh-so-common buyers remorse. The Seasonic is 100 Euros and I used to run a bunch of hard drives but I just bought a second-hand case that is far better and realized that trimming down all the HD's that sit and do nothing because of the "more=better fallacy".
It's about to replace a 10 year old BeQuiet that jas served me well but started to make some noises that I hadn't experienced before. This weekend I'm going to do a full dissassembly, install Windows onto an NVME drive, pair storage down to just 1 SSD and 1 2 TB platter.
Going to be a nice quality of life improvement while I wait for GPU's to actually cost MSRP!

I would love to see a high end power supply in comparison. maybe a Seasonic prime TX or other high end. I know these models are 2-3x the price but I would like to see both how they compare to these budget models. Is it that much better? Does it make these variations seem bad?
Gives a reference point to a high end PSU so when lower end hardware meets it, you know just how good it is.

Super flower PSU's were recommend to me, I have the Leadex III 850W gold full mod in one of my rigs. Kinda curious since it is not one of the BIG names just kinda the middle of line pricing at least when I bought mine.
Super Flower Leadex III 850W 80+ Gold, Three-Way ECO Mode Fanless, Silent & Cooling Mode, FDB Fan, Full Modular Power Supply, on newegg is the one I have runs about 99 dollars I got mine for like 75 US.

It might be good to track who's manufacturing each power supply so that you can develop trends of, say, Great Wall vs other OEMs and how much they differ based on who releases them. I'm thinking of the Fractal, NZXT, Razer, etc supplies that are pretty clearly not designed by those companies. Would be nice to expose this to spotlight innovation in the industry, much like airflow in cases, IMHO.
