    Thank you so much! I am knitting (for the first time in years) a baby sock and for the life of me I couldn't figure out from the written instructions how to do the heal. This is really similar to crocheting a heel. Your tutorial is FANTASTIC!

    What a clear and well explained video! You are so encouraging! I have avoided socks for years and so I am so glad I found you on UA-cam . You used great colors for the video so it was easy to see the stitches. And YES it is magic to knit the heel cup!!! Mint chocolate was my reward. Thank you thank you!!!

    I had a pattern, I tried to trust it, I was going ever so slightly up the wall. and then I found this video and you're breaking my heart! I feel so encouraged and so proud that I turned the heel, you're right its total sumptuous heel-hugging magic. I can't wait to knit another sock and I just want to thank you so much !!!
    I found the pace lovely and also the intuitive nature of not-counting much easier to get my head around and feel like I understand more what I'm doing than just blindly counting and feeling lost. You're fantastic!

    Excellent instructions. I was struggling with the heel and read so many patterns but they did not make sense enough for me to do it right. I love your clear step by step instructions along with the explanation. I just finished the heel and it looks beautiful. Thank you. I hope you have more videos on picking up the stitches and finishing rest of the sock.

    Wow! Watching you and listening to your soothing voice is so satisfying. I picked up my needles and yarn to make a sock a little while ago, after a couple of years of no knitting , and finally got to the BEST part , the heal stuff. Wish I had found you before I did it on my own. 🤪. You are SO right about how thrilling it is to make that pocket. It’s like. A little bit of giggle joy when you see it forming. SO COOL! Is all I keep repeating. I am at the making the gusset part on this sock ( started on small circular, now on two, but really want to try magic loop next) and loved how you said to trust you... I am not seeing the gusset form yet, but trusting the pattern. I think I will watch your gusset video before I finish just so I can feel good about what I am doing. Your videos are just the best! Thank you for sharing. I will binge watch soon. And learn the math for the sock and close the book ( Ann Budd’s “the knitter’s handy book of Patterns”) that confuses the beep out of me. Your way is fabulous!

    Thanks to you I made my very first sock. Although I'm not great at following instructions your math and explanations actually assisted in not only my very first sock but a pattern of my own lol. You do am amazing job. I started knitting in January of this year and have 2 sweaters with hats to match my first project was one of the sweaters almost following a pattern ... I'm so bad ... turned out great but I wanted to knit to make socks. I have successfully made 1 of my first pair taking careful notes so now to get at the second. Thank you again for your careful explanations !!!!!!

    I’m fairly new to sock making. Have made a few from a kit pattern. But I found they’ve been a tad tight on cuff. So I’ve branched out to make them fit. ( pattern gave instructions) but it fails to explain further alterations throughout pattern. So I’ve chucked it! Started following yours from this video. Finding it making sense already! 👏🏻 I eventually want to be able to knit socks by just remembering myself! I’m fine with vanilla socks, don’t need fancy patterns. So I’m putting myself in your capable hands. Big thank you!!!!!

    Thank you for your sock videos and sock calculator. This is a great resources. I am knitting my first pair of socks following your video for the heel flap adding the extra colour for the heel. I have 30 sts for the heel flap and knitted the two rows as you did at the beginning before doing the slip stitch. As a result, I have 15 chains but am two rows short on the slip stitch flap if I count the colour change rows. Should I knit two more rows or count the colour change rows as my first chain? I am afraid I may get a hole. Again, thank you. Great instructional video.

I see the sl1 at the beginning of the row gives a 'chain stitch' . BTW - your explanation of this process is excellent - clear and slow enough to follow along. Thanks!

    9:49 the stitches that you slip are the same row for the back and the front when I try to repeat this?? So there are rows that ar not knit/pearled at all and pulled tight and curled up. That can't be right

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  12 днів тому +1

      On the right side of the work, I'm slipping the first stitch, then knitting one, slip one, knit one, all the way across. Then turn your work and purl back on the wrong side. Does that make sense?
      You can also see the written instructions in the video description.

      @@PurlTogetherwhat I probably missed here is a first slip on the pearl side and then continue with the pearl/slip pattern. Then it works out that you pearl/knit the stitch that you slipped on the other side. I'm getting there I think😅 Thank you for your reply

    What brand needles do you use for magic loop. I see they are bamboo. Thank you for such an enlightening class.

    I Have 22 each needle. How many rows up flap do I do. Help

      You'll want to knit at least the same number of rows as you have stitches on your heel flap. So if you have 22 sts total, on your heel, you'll knit at least 22 rows. You'll want to knit more if you have a higher arch (instep) though, since the length of the heel flap determines the circumference of the sock around the instep or the diagonal ankle measurement.

    You’re my go to place for remembering how to do the heel turn. Do you recall the name of that lovely purple and grey yarn you used when showing the other sock you were working? I think it was about 12 mins. into the video. Thanks!
