This tutorial is the BEST! Knitting socks has always intimidated me a bit, but you make it so easy to follow. I love the way you give the reasons for what you're doing so that the whole project makes perfect sense. Socks make such a wonderful gift! (People are always so impressed!) Thank you so much!!
I know this video is five years old but I wanted to say thank you for making this video. I’m so happy with my first pair of socks and I can’t wait to make more. I learned so much and this for part series. Thank you for the Content
I was trying to knit a sock for three weeks following written instructions, other videos etc without success!! So frustrating! I then found your tutorials and “got it” straight away. I am thrilled to have just finished my first beautiful sock and am confident enough now to go ahead with the next one!! I cant thank you enough, Jana. Xx
Thank you....you are the BEST. Your instructions are perfectly understandable for someone who has never done this. I tryed books and instructions .... this is the best ever. Thank you!
I know you made this video some time ago but it is still paying forward today. Your explicit, well articulated tutorial on how to make a sock has been a real blessing and sharing of traditional wisdom. THANK YOU!!
Just completing my first sock and I am NOT a knitter!! Wonderful tutorials - clear, good pace, good camera close ups and a soothing voice to boot. Perfect. Thank you so much. 🔆
Thank you so much for this teaching series. I'm a visual learner so now I'll be able to go back and understand a pattern with this type of heel. I see you also have a 7-part sock tutorial, looking forward to watching it too. Great job!
Thank you for this series! I knit my first pair of socks last year on my own and looking back, I sure wish I had seen your videos. You helped so much in helping me understand the heel and gusset!! I kept hearing the terms and kinda knew which was which but never really understood the construction until your videos! Thank you again sooo very much. I now get it!!!! ❤️
Thank you for utterly and completely demystifying sock knitting! This series of tutorials is fantastic, and I appreciate them tremendously. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You are a Queen! Thank you so much for being so patient and helping us understand WHY we're doing what we are doing instead of just telling us what to do. You are so encouraging and sweet and made me feel like I was working w a friend while I was alone in quarantine. So proud of my first pair of socks!
You are just a natural teacher. I just finished the full series and it makes sense and seems easy to follow. I’m making wash cloths right now because I’m I trying to train myself to continental knitting (so awkward). I keep think muscle memory will kick in, but it hasn’t yet. I’m really excited about learning to make socks, though., so I’ll keep at it. Thank you so much.
This video tutorial saved my sock! I had purchased a pattern that either didn’t explain the heel turn well enough or was faulty, so I was stuck after knitting the leg. I’m so grateful for your tutorial and also the link to the sock calculator! This morning I finished the second sock, they have both been washed and blocked and are drying on a towel. Can’t wait to wear them in the cold weather we’ve been having. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your terrific tutorial.
I'd just like to say a huge Thank You for your very helpful basic sock tutorials. I've been trying to learn how to knit socks for years! However, having followed your instructions, I made my very first pair of wearable socks which I kept for myself and I've since made a great pair for my daughter and now I'm onto a third pair. I'll be looking out for some of your other videos. Thanks again!
These tutorials are great! I used to knit simpler versions of these socks years ago. Needed a refresher and decided to follow your videos because of the improved double heel and not so pointy toes! Thanks so much!
Thank you!!!!! I had another way to finish up the sock but I'm learning new ways to do it. Your videos are so well done and everything is nicely and easily explained. Good job!!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial series, I know a lot of work goes into making videos like these. Because of your videos I've finally grasped the method of making socks, and can make them any size and style I want. I'll be making all my family's socks from now on 😊
Thank you again. I have finally finished a sock. You really explained everything well. I'm so grateful. Where I live have no one to help me with any questions I might have. God Bless you.
My Finnish Grandmother knitted a pair of sox for each of her 52 grandkids for Christmas gifts. All were perfect & were passed onto siblings, because they just didn't wear out! She used wool from her own sheep. THANK YOU for Awesome tutorials! I am now not afraid to carry on her tradition w/my own 3 grands.
Hello Jana, here Kate from Canada. I wanted to say thank you for your excellent video .. thanks to you, I finished my first sock. I had a lot of difficulty closing my toes and I watched your video several times and I managed..yay .. so proud of me and so so grateful to have you to help us🤗, you are a very good teacher😍 thank you again 👍
Thankyou so much for such an amazing sock tutorial. I have blundered through a couple of socks that finished up pretty shameful. I have tried books/tutorials etc but never have I achieved such a good result as I have from your video your details and explanations are fabulous x
Thank you sooooo much for your amazing videos, I have found yours by far the easiest to follow & to say I'm ridiculously pleased with my little self having just completed my very very first ever sock (complete with your easy to do Kitchener stitch) is an understatement. I was gifted a book & some sparkly blue wool at Christmas & I put off making a start until I'd read the book, faffed about, cast on & made a real pigs ear out of my first few rows, pulled it all out & almost gave in..............then I followed your videos & yippeeeee, I am now the oh so proud owner of my first sock. Guess who will be casting on for its matching little number this evening. I wish to admit.....I think I am an addict in the making, I already have several new balls of wool for more socks after this. I somehow don't think I'm alone huh?? xxxx
Thank you, Janet for putting this series up. I knit my FIRST pair of socks! And thank you for mentioning the book "Custom Socks" by Kate Atherley. My first attempt was too large, then with the help of this book I was able to size correctly. Your tutorials helped me understand the terminology in the book. (I am not used to using patterns.) You made it so easy.
You are awesome! I had my written directions- but they tend to be confusing. You helped me knit my very 1st pair of socks!! It was so much fun! Thank you!
This is a great video. I started my first sock a few years ago with my neighbour teaching me. That heel was very scary as she walked me through it. I moved away before I got to the toe .... then it sat in my knitting box. I pulled it out today because I hate keeping unfinished projects. Before I saw this video I thought I’m going to have to find a one legged person to give it to because I didn’t think I would be able to do the 2nd sock by myself. But I am totally encouraged to finish sock one and carry on to start and complete sock #2 after seeing this video. Thank you.
I love your video....I have been trying to finish three pair of socks which are now at the toe stage and could not figure out the kitchner stitch for the longest time. I took two sock classes years ago and have been dragging my feet (pun intended!) to finish two of the pair of socks til I could figure out the kitchner stitch. Thank you for your clear instructions in this video!
Thank you so much ! Finally after 30 years of wanting to knit sock but being terrified of knitting recipes and having no patience for other people teaching me 😍 I finally knotted a perfect heel. You are a great teacher
I knitted a pair of socks many years ago and could not remember how, thanks to your tutorials I am going to give it a try again, thank you great instructions
Thank you so much I love this series and your patient caring teaching x I am onto sock #5 and have got a notions bag too so feel pretty thrilled with my entry in knitting socks! x
Thank you so much for all of these tutorials...I had no idea what I was getting into making a sock. And I didn't even have a pattern. Without these tutorials it never would have happened. And it took me awhile but I just completed my second sock. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us all. But especially me. I learned oh so many things doing this project. I wish I could add a picture for you. PS listen to everything she says...she knows better, than you.
I wish I could post a picture of my sock. Lol I have been a knitter for years but never tackled socks. My spouse gave me the strangest look when I told him it was on my bucket list. I bought a bunch of sock knitting books and decided on the pattern “Road to Oslo” from a Nancy Bush book. Although it was a different pattern, when I started the heel flap, turning, etc. I needed a little extra help. Your videos made my sock a success. Thank You! 😁
You are so awesome! I finished the second sock and I can’t wait to start my next pair! Thanks so much for showing how to make them in such a clear and concise manner. 🤗♥️
I started this project over 3 years ago and had only done one cuff🤦🏼♀️. The knitting basket kept winking at me🤣. After finding your easy to follow terrific instructions this project is complete 2 weeks later 🙌🏻🧦. Thank you so very much 💕💐
My first one wasn't so 'fabulous' and trying twice... better. Perhaps the second sock will hit the "fabulous" mark. Love learning from you. Thank you so much.
Jana, your sure a fantastic teacher. I'm a visual learner so I replay each step several time. I like how you explain how's and why's you do things. I picked up one more stitch on the gusset. I missed how you can fix that. Can you explain that for me.Thanks so much!

I love your how-to and your voice is very soothing. I would love to get a set of needles like the one you used in this video. Could I ask which brand and type you used here? Thank you so much for the time you put in this. Very useful!
I really enjoyed your teaching of making socks, I have been making socks for a few years now but really like the magic loop! What size is the needles and yarn, please? Thank you so very much!!
What size yarn and needles depend upon the fabric you'd like to create. Most people prefer smaller diameter needles and yarn for socks, so they're not too bulky. Fingering weight yarn and anywhere from 2.0mm - 2.75mm needles. (US 0-2) The size of needles will depend your individual tension and style of knitting. I just finished one sock aS per your turtorial... I think I made my heel too tall, forgot which way I was supposed to decrease a couple times but happy with my toe. Now I'm gonna do like you say and put one on while I finish the other. It won't be long as I have been knitting them at the same time. Started out both on circular needle then got confused... Now to figure how to post pictures here?
I don't think you can post pictures here, but you can certainly join us over on Facebook or Ravelry. Just search for Purl Together groups over there! Thanks for watching
These videos might be the very very best I’ve seen for knitting socks…many many thanks
Glad you like them!
Just finished! I love my sock. You are a great teacher. ❤

Since I can not remember how to do the stitches, I just come back to this video for every single sock 🤣
Thank you so much for this teaching series. I'm a visual learner so now I'll be able to go back and understand a pattern with this type of heel. I see you also have a 7-part sock tutorial, looking forward to watching it too. Great job!

You give such clear explanations of how and why, I think I’m going to have a go at magic loop.

Excellent tutorial series!
Great video teacher. So wonderful!!!!!
I started this project over 3 years ago and had only done one cuff🤦🏼♀️. The knitting basket kept winking at me🤣. After finding your easy to follow terrific instructions this project is complete 2 weeks later 🙌🏻🧦. Thank you so very much 💕💐
Great job!
When you're alternating your decrease round with a plain round for the gusset decreases, just do an extra decrease on the side with the extra one, to get back down to your original cast on number of stitches. Then carry on with knitting the foot. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and subscribing!
Brilliant tuition - thank you so much! 😊
A great refresher!
Was wondering where I find your blog for the Kitchener stitch written out..so happy I was able to do the toe decreases. Love your video...the Kitchener stitch confused me a little. Would like to have your written version. Thanks. I have subscribed.

@@PurlTogether Thank you, I really love your sock knitting techniques! I will check out the link 😊💕
Thank you - a beautifull sock - very usefull to know
I just finished one sock aS per your turtorial...
Really enjoyed your tutorial. I've ordered the book by Nancy Bush. I've also put in a request to join the Facebook group.
