  • This may well be your first look at the new Westcliff Works model of Midlander from the Talyllyn Railway. This video will show the process of painting and lining the model, with lots of little tips on how I do it along the way.
    Cheers.

    I think I'd use the sharp end of a cocktail stick for more uniform paint dots on your lining. Also I've watched nearly all your videos, and seeing that black paint go on is no less terrifying now than it was the first time I saw you do it, can't argue with the results though.

      The issue with the cocktail stick is the dot would be too small I think?

    Lovely job on this! You absolutely captured midlander's colors very well here! I saw one of the prototypes of this model my friend TomTeeLegend had back in March at a train show we do together. While I love classic midlander, I honestly kinda want to model fatlander more. I've been binging your videos recently and I've had such the urge to model the TR that I bought the fourdees Edward Thomas kit last week lol.

    When I saw Midlander for the first time (over 50 years ago ..... God, I'm old!!) It looked so much smaller than I expected and your model catches the titchiness very well.

    Great job, this looks fantastic!! Modern day Midlander makes me so confused to look at, as I am a fan of the Railway Series and TTTE so I am used to looking at Midlander as built, rather than as preserved thanks to Rusty 😂

    Lovely job. I do wonder if you should do the glazing after the black wash though as the black paint residue on the windows isn’t the best, I noticed that on the carrs particularly. But it’s a minor thing. And was all the faff with the airbrush worth it to spray the buffer beams red? I’d have brushed them. Lining is proper gorge. ❤

    • @GWilliamsonModels
      @GWilliamsonModels  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes Tbf I agree with the glazing, though after the videos I do go back and wash them, but I’ll try and do it post wash next time.

    What is your opinion on using water slide transfers before a clear coat compared to before AND after a clear coat?

    • @GWilliamsonModels
      @GWilliamsonModels  2 місяці тому +1

      It depends on what type of paint is used, you need something that the transfers will key on to. And they’ll always need a varnish to seal them in after. So as I use acrylics, the transfers don’t stick brilliantly, so it would help to give it a clear coat first, but then a second after to seal it all in.
