- This is the first video in what will (hopefully!) be a long series.
In this video, see how to build, detail, paint and weather the infamous Dundas model 009 kit of the ex-Corris brake van.
I lost a clip of actually applying the weathering...but the next video will show it in better detail, so subscribe so you don't miss it!
Cheers

Great video of a lovely build of this simple but effective kit. I'm just about to start my first layout, a 009 north wales fictional railway, I'm into the modeling rather than the details of the railway and am inspired to try some of the Dundas kits you've used. Great video's thanks for sharing your work.
Brilliant to hear, they’re great quality kits, so I hope you enjoy the build
Superb work on the brake van, and a fantastic video. I really look forward to more!
That’s great to hear, always nervous when you haven’t done something before! Staying on Corris theme for the next one, catch it on friday
Excellent presentation George. Succint, informative and helpful. I've subscribed! 👍
Noel
Thanks Noel, that means alot
Nice video, I liked the simple straightforward format and presentation. I think you should ware gloves when spraying it’s much easier than cleaning your hands. Subscribed.
Thankyou, I appreciate you watching!
The gloves is a tricky subject, I was hospitalised with covid back in the day, and struggle with feeling in my hands as a result, so gloves make things almost impossible - that’s why I do say you should wear gloves..but I don’t 😅
Nice one mate. I’d have brush painted the chassis as it would’ve been much quicker and saved your hands getting painted LOL. PS tamiya Matt nato black is a lovely colour. The stick for spraying is a natty idea! Look forward to the next video.
Thanks for the tip Colin, I’ll check out the Tamiya paint for future projects!
Lovely video, thanks. Hopefully you can do some 7mm stuff.
That is planned Tim! I have a few railways in mind for 7mm. 5.5mm will also be on the cards for the narrow gauge stuff, but eventually N gauge standard aswell..
I feel like I am afraid of kit building rolling stock. I worry that I won't get a result that runs very well at all. It kinda scares me.
It’s really easy, I’d suggest starting with a cheap kit to practice on and go from there!
Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black is nice and flat.
I’ve never used Tamiya, but I’ve seen people like them. I’m starting to get more ‘army painter’ paints, so will see what their black is like aswell
The roof appeared to have some light weathering but wasn't mentioned, was this the lost clip?
One of them sorry! Need a new laptop! If it helps, the roof was done by dusting on black weathering powder, then washing the roof with a wet paint brush. The weathering powder stains the roof, and settles along the rain strips
