The beauty of this woman's face and voice and the calmness wins me over every time. Excellent channel with extremely good tips, tricks and professional advice makes this the place to go for advice.
Oh Louise my heart goes out to you when I see the frustration in your bloopers... but I laugh along with you 😉 Be reassured you are doing an amazing job making these videos.. They are an absolute pleasure to watch and inspirational to boot 👍👏
@@LouiseDeMasi My pleasure Louise, us Aussie gals and women in general should always be at the ready to praise, support, encourage.... edify each other 👍🤗 😘 Thank you for sharing 👏
Hi, Louise. Once again I'd like to say thanks for you providing such a useful video. (My wife, Viki, is also a subscriber.) These specifically targeted videos absolutely hit the spot. Other painters refer to, in this example, using salt but the detail IS important and a proper examination of the effects achievable and the examples of use in paintings that you have incorporated the technique into are also invaluable. These remarks apply to many of your videos. As have others, I'd also like to say how professionally made your videos are and how important it is to see you work in real time:, not resorting to fast frame in order to shorten the run time.
So few artist demonstrators go beyond just showing the salt technique, into how to deploy it effectively into subjects. In fact, I’d be surprised if many do it at all, apart from as a novelty. Thanks so much. Your fox is very memorable, I give that class a go every few months and hope to one day master it!
I just discovered your videos. I always get so bogged down by the detail. It's overwhelming. great tutorial on how to calm it all down. I've discovered the beauty of watercolor blooms and salt. I love the effects. Can't wait to use these techniques. Thank you.
Ohhh wow that’s fantastic looking textures with the feathers & fur! I have used salt for winter ❄️ snow & icy sparkles mostly. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video!
This is the first video of yours I have seen, but it will not be my last! Your paintings are magnificent! I won't even dream about being able to paint like you, but will enjoy watching you, for sure! Thank you.
A simple technique that offers such an exquisite sophistication in texture and overall beauty ! Surprising watercolor results ! Thank you Louise for sharing your expertise!
By including your door bell takeout You made me laugh 'really you did' - so a very good lesson about how to use salt by a very good teacher with a self deprecating sense of humour. Thank you for making a good start to my day!
Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials! They are so clear and easy to understand. And the application examples are extremely helpful. Thank you so much again! Ps: the behind the scenes part at the end of this video did make me smile big! So cute! Thank you for your hard work and generous sharing!
I just have to say that I love your videos! I’m so glad that even though you have the frustration with making them, you don’t quit. Please keep them coming. We love them, and we love you 😍
Thanks Louise. I reviewed this tutorial on applying salt. I tried grinding course sea salt created an in between effect which suited the painting. I followed your instruction on the wetness of paper and it was effective.
Thank you so much. Wonderfully presented. I now know I always put the salt on too soon! This is life changing, as I was giving up on my salt technique. I just need to be more patient.
Lovely video. Just before last few days I found your u tube channel for water colour techniques. I like the way you explain everything. Really I m amazed to see the texture created by using salt. Thank you 🙏 so much. ❤
Thank you Rhonda! I have a family of 5 that lives on our property. I love watching the young ones play. Mum and Dad are all business but the kids are so funny to watch.
Thank you very much. That's why I wanted to show my paintings and how I used it. I see so many videos demonstrating 'how' to use the salt but not so many that show you 'why' it's a good technique to learn.
Thank you for the great video Louise. I loved the bloopers at the end; having filmed a few of my own pieces I know exactly how it felt when the doorbell rang :)
Thank you so much Louise! I now realise where I have been going wrong, up to now I have always applied the salt when the paper was WAY too wet, so it's no wonder it never worked properly. Can't wait to try again now I know what to do. Thanks also for the lovely outtakes at the end, they really made me chuckle xx
Just started doing acrylics a year ago, and now thought of doing watercolour, you make it a very interesting so will be having ago. Many thanks. Will look at your other videos. 🤓🎨👨🎨
Thank you Yvonne. I hope you're enjoying painting with acrylics. I taught acrylic painting for over 10 years. I hope to put some acrylic painting tutorials on here too. I do prefer painting in watercolour though.
thank you so much for another video Louise. Love your salt demo and then showing us how you used them in your beautiful paintings. They are absolutely stunning . I really need to get over my fear of failure and just try paint something substantial (I'm very new to watercolours)- you & your videos are so inspiring and helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. It's really good to know that my videos are helpful. It's a difficult medium to use when you first start but it's my favourite medium by far. I tried at first and gave up because I found painting in acrylic paint was much easier. I stepped out of my comfort zone a second time and I tried it again and I was determined this second time to not let it beat me. I'm so glad I did. Don't give up!
I've only just found you and have started taking your Skillshare classes. I'm enraptured by your watercolor painting techniques and by your beautiful paintings. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent. By the way, I LOVED the outtakes at the end of this video! LOL! Thanks for sharing those as well.

Thank you Louise I have started watching your tutorials & learning to simplify rather than over paint with too much detail.

Thank you, this is the first time I've seen how to get use of this technique rationally rather than using to have abstract experimental effects.
Thank you very much. That's why I wanted to show my paintings and how I used it. I see so many videos demonstrating 'how' to use the salt but not so many that show you 'why' it's a good technique to learn.

Great video, I really appreciate seeing how you apply the salt and the different effects. I have used salt before but didn't get the dramatic textures you've shown, I think I applied it too early when the paint was too wet. Will try again after seeing the fantastic results you get.
Thanks very much Jennie. Apply it when there is still a slight sheen to the surface. I hope you have better luck with it now.
