Also most grape flavored things in the US are based off of Concord grapes. Thats why they taste nothing like regular grapes.
Europeans who taste test things always complain about people making this comment, but they never actually listen and understand that grapes have different species and flavors. You can't make merlot wine without merlot grapes, and you can't make concord grape juice without concord grapes.
I propose the next time they make a trip to the U.S. they go to a concord grape farm and try concord grapes for themselves so they can see WHY our grape flavored candies taste like that. Lol

Probably because it's made about 12 million times in the comments and they understood it the first 1,000 times but people keep insisting on stating it to appear like they are imparting some sort of unique and clever knowledge onto them that no on else has already stated.

I've only recently gotten into hockey, and I've gotta say I think hockey jerseys is a good look. Haven't picked a favourite team yet but the best, cleanest jerseys I've seen are the Canadiens, the Maple Leafs, and the Minnesota Wild, but the very best is probably the Red Wings.

I grew up getting these in the early 90s, they came as a strip of five or six iirc, and they are the only sherbet-filled candy I have ever seen in the US. They disappeared from shelves at most stores for MANY years, but WinCo now has them.

Blue Raspberry isn't a "made up flavor" it's based off the flavor of Whitebark Raspberries and the fruit itself is just as blue, if not moreso than blueberries. We can all agree blue raspberry sounds more appetizing than "Whitebark Raspberry", but I assure you it's just as real a fruit as strawberry or apple. ;)
They make this mistake often. Grape flavor isn't fake, either. It's just not the flavor of the grapes you buy to snack on, but Concord grapes. I have a feeling the cherry flavor they claim is fake is the same thing, but I don't know what kind of cherry they're supposed to be. Also, banana flavor is real, too, it just happens to be a flavor that was originated with a type of banana that went extinct, so now everyone thinks it's fake.

@@ms_scribbles The deeper truth on grape flavour is, the artificial form is just one component of Concords. They've never had actual Concord anything over there, so they think Concords must taste like Fanta or whatever. We need to send them some Welch's preserves, jelly, and juice. My gran made some from her vine in Michigan in the 1980s that made Welch's look sick. And these poor people think black currants are the shiz... Meanwhile, I bet a mashup of currant and Concord would be amazeballzzzz.

"I'm a sour guy!" Yeah, Dermot's right...He's SUPER sour when it comes to anything peanut butter flavored! Wonder if he's alright with peanut butter in smoothies? We actually have a small smoothie/juice place and one of the smoothies they make is a PB&J smoothie, with grapes, peanut butter, almond milk and banana mixed in. There's a couple other ingredients, but it's the four main items that you'll taste in the smoothie. And it's REALLY amazing!

Love you all! What American's call grape flavor is from a variety called Concord Grape. It has a rich, intense and deep flavor with a hint of a tang, and it's what is sold as grape jelly here. Concords are very different from table grapes, the red, green or black ones that are very fleshy/watery. They have a thicker skin, are small and almost perfectly round, and more closely resemble a wine grape than a table grape. Grape soda or grape candy in America is closer in flavor to a Concord grape than a table grape (snacking grape). Concords are named for a town in North Carolina which is where they originated. So while "grape flavor" is technically artificial, it isn't fake because it differs from table grape flavor, but because someone made a chemical that tries to be Concord flavor.

I'd love to see them try some old fashioned home made preserves like Watermelon Preserves.
Let's really confuse them: Pickled watermelon rind, and _actual_ Concord grape preserves, so they'll finally know wtf actual grapes taste like.

Lol my hubby is probably the only one in America who doesn’t like peanut butter! He told me when he was a little kid, his babysitter, who was an older woman, made him just peanut butter sandwiches with no jelly in it, because she hated jelly, she never put it in his sandwich. My poor hubby, tortured with bad memories of peanut butter sandwiches! Lol

As someone with 33 hockey jerseys i appreciate the Blackhawks sweater.
Every grape flavor you taste is Concord grape flavored. It’s deep purple and very sweet and typically is made into jelly/jam and juice. The blue raspberry is made to resemble the black cap raspberry which has a black/blue hue.

From what I understand, the name ZotZ came from a 1962 movie titled ZotZ! It was a comedy starring Tom Poston. I loved these candies as a kid.

😂 the gas station behind my work is usually sold out of these because of our staff. My boss bought an entire variety pack box from them one day and kept it in the store.
