Finally you opened up the comments! :) Crazy how all of what you spoke of happens practically in the blink of an eye. Hey Coach, pretty impressive how you make your videos with practically no cuts needed. Must be from years of speaking to people. Great video.

Anthony Goldstein thanks Anthony. I have a long way to go with the filmmaking aspect but like with my students I study successful people and learn from them. We have an adult goalie series being shot with pet peeves etc. if you have anything in your game you want us to address let us know. Regarding the comments, I know have a little more time to babysit the comment section and my wife tells me to thicken up my skin.... and I think it will be better way to help more goalies....thanks again.

Another beaut with great delivery. This way of playing breakaways is exactly how I need to play it because I’m small (5’7). The 5 vs 2 ways to score really hammers the point home. So far, so good. First pick up game, 3 breaky’s trying to open me up and go 5 hole. No shots, they deked and I was able to shut the door. Many thanks and keep up the great vids FPG! 🍻.

Great video! My son is 11 yr old goalie who moves well but has trouble with breakaways. I have been trying to tell him similar things but you articulate it much better and for some reason he listens to you more then me (his dad)!!!

I thought you had some videos on GAP control as well. I've searched your channel but can't find them. Can you point me to them?

What would your advice be, if there's anything in particular, for handling situations like the goals shown in the video? It looked like all three of those goalies basically forced the deke, but got hosed 5-hole once the shooter got them moving.

Great Question Kris. I know NHL guys are very good at going back through the goalie once the deke pull begins. Unless you are playing high junior or above, or playing rec with a former high end player most guys steer clear from trying to put it back through the goalie. But I do have some tips.
      1) On most dekes to the glove side goalies will have poor stick discipline. In many cases, thrusting their stick the OPPOSITE way of the deke which is called rolling the shoulder. In that case, the goalie must be diligent in ensuring a glove side deke is handled by leading the stick in the direction of the deke keeping 5 hole along the ice sealed at all times.
      2) The other issue is related to early pad sealing in the diagonal slide. once a guy finally pulls it the lead knee has to get down VERY explosively sealing the ice the entire time.
A great way to refine this is to do y pattern drills with a cell phone camera at ice level and watch how well you get an early knee drive and maintain excellent stick discipline.
